  1. Yes you should get it checked in the workshop. Its very easy as you just have to open the inspection cover on the timing cover. I think u must have got the updated tensioner. But get it checked and confirm. And what is the mileage of your engine?
  2. Hey did VAG updated the faulty tensioners and the faulty oil rings with the pistons and connecting rods with new designed ones in the EA888 Gen2 1.8/2.0TSI at this time??
  3. Yes but it was replaced in an authorised Skoda Workshop and they said that the engine was manfactured new on May 2017 and fittted in my car on July 2017.
  4. Heyy mate i own a Skoda Superb 1.8tsi 2012 ( January manufactured ) model which had a full engine replacement at 54k kms due to a warped piston head causing missfires and vibrations ,on 2017 with a new Gen2 TSi engine from authorised Skoda workshop. Do u have any idea when did VAG update the Gen2 EA888 engine with the updated/revised tensioners , piston rings and conrods?? I am pretty sure that the updated these faulty parts but when i don't know. Am i safe with the new engine which is Gen2 1.8TSI but made in 2017. As the new engine was manufactured on May 2017 and fitted in my car on July 2017 , will it have all the updated parts??
  5. Hey mate. I checked for the engine code written on the top timing cover and found this. The code is very different . Is this the engine code?? And can u please send your's engine code sticker pic on the timing cover.
  6. This is the engine number which was replaced in my car. It shows that it was made in 2017. I replaced my engine at an authorised Skoda Worskshop. I think it was imported from Germany as the engine code word and other things are written in German and not in English.
  7. Thanks for the information mate. And yes the engine was replaced at Skoda authorised Workshop by a official Skoda dealer. Jst check the image there is the new Engine code and date of manufacture. I think its imported from Germany as the engine code word is written in German.
  8. This is the Engine serial number written on the replaced engine.(Image) And the original one had engine serial number:-CDA272192
  9. I have seen many issues with EA888 1.8/2.0TSi engine for timing tensioner slipage and oil consumption is the greatest problem which is faced by many owners worldwide. I own a Skoda Superb 1.8TSi MT (2012 manufactured) with 80k kms in the odo. My original engine at 54k kms was replaced by Skoda with a new Gen2 1.8TSI on 2017 due to a warped engine head and some coolant leak and there was a lot of vibrations while driving. I am driving with the new engine and have driven it around 26k kms with and the problem which my car gave was a bad fuel pump and a bad water pump. Engine has no issues till now. I have a question for all the experts over here , which i think most of the EA888 Gen2 owners need to know. My question is that when did VAG update the faulty timing tensioners with the updated one and update the pistons rings with revised rings and con rods for the oil consumption issue? I have mostly seens the issues cropping in the EA888 Gen2 engines from the year 2009-2011.

  11. I dont think they provided me a 3rd Gen engine. It was a 2nd gen TSi engine. But i wish it has got the revised timing tensioner and piston rings.

  13. Thanks a lot mate. U made me sooo much relieved as i love my car sooo much and i am very concerned about it everytime thats why i am always worried with it and after looking at those 1.8TSI failures and issues i got worried more. Thanks a lot for clearing all my doubts i wish both our cars would be reliable and serve us for a long time. BTW my original engine number is CDA27**** It was manufactured in January,2012
  14. I bought a Skoda Superb 1.8TSI MT on 2019 and its a 2012 January manufactured model with 72k kms on the odo .But when i searched for the service history in Skoda workshop the service advisor told me that there was a problem of misfire and coolant leak which caused a warped cylinder head in the engine at 54k kms on the odo, so they replaced the whole engine with a brand new base engine on 2017 . I was very worried that is it a good buy or not but then i reasiled then i nearly got a new engine which has ran only 18k kms . I think i am lucky to get this car with this replaced engine. What do u think?? Does this mean that as i got the engine replace with a new one on 2017 the engine will come with updated timing tensioners and updated piston rings and con rods for reducing the oil consumption issue beacuse i think they were updated by Skoda at that time??? Can anyone tell when did the Gen2 engine got its updated tensioners and piston rings?? I am pretty sure that Skoda updated these parts in Gen2 EA888 1.8TSI but when??? And ami I safe with this new engine??

  16. As i got my car with the engine replaced on 2017 but it is a Gen 2 EA888 1.8tsi so does it mean that it comes with the updated timing set and tensioner and also with the updated piston rings and con rods which were faulty in the Gen2 EA888 engine in the inital days??? Do u have any idea when were these faulty parts replaced with new revised parts in which year for the Gen2 EA888 1.8tsi engines?
