Map updates - Again!!!!
I'm pedantic myself about things that I understand! No need to apologise! I was a pre WW 2 child and my computer knowledge has been acquired through making many mistakes rather than by tuition. Rather annoyingly my son is a teacher and an IT specialist and my grandson is doing a degree in Cybersecurity but they are in Adelaide which is rather a long commute! Can't let them know that I am a computer duffer though can I? (LOL) Stay Safe!

Map updates - Again!!!!
Success at last!!!!! Problem was that I had transferred the unzipped 'HIGH12' folder to my usb in its whole form, that is rather than transferring its three units individually. Simples!!! Thanks to BOD20's detailing of the process I am up to date!!!

Map updates - Again!!!!
Thanks for your help BOD20 - time isn't a problem (particularly in lockdown!). I hope that this is the answer to my difficulties. The Nav sees the usb but can't find the data so I guessed that it was something that I either wasn't doing or was doing by the wrong method! I will certainly post if it works!!!!! Stay safe!!!!

Map updates - Again!!!!
On it as we speak! I just copied the unzipped HIGH12 direct to the usb. If I understand you correctly the three files need to be transferred separately. I am atm transferring the three files individually to my USB stick and will try again. Sorry for my computer ignorance but will that get to the 'root' of the usb? Just noticed your location! Funnily enough my Superb 3 SE l Estate was previously owned in Glasgow!

Map updates - Again!!!!
Noticed on an old post that BOD20 transferred the three update files Mib1, Mib2, and Text file to the USB individually, or so it reads. Another poster specifically states that the files need to go on the USB 'root'. He seems to reject the simple transfer of the HIGH 12 extracted file. I am not sufficiently computer savvy to understand this but could that individual transfer method make that subtle difference?

Map updates - Again!!!!
Thanks Rusty! I am beginning to doubt everything tbh!!! I wonder if there is something that I haven't done after buying it, having bought it from a large secondhand group. I have used the Sat Nav etc which works fine, set the seat arrangement and so on, but is there anything else? I have connected to the Skoda portal and registered there, also downloaded maps from there, got my service printout from My Skoda . So I can't see any reason why it won't work.

Map updates - Again!!!!
The two slots have SD cards with my media choices on them. The nav says that it has spotted the usb stick but when I tap the 'update' tag it searches but can't find the update. Same when I put the update in as an SD card. I guess that there will be in indication on the handbook details, along with the VIN, which indicates the infotainment model.

Map updates - Again!!!!
And that is what I have. I notice that on windows 10 the default format has changed. Whether that would just be the problem I wouldn't know. I have tried FAT32 in the past anyway wil no result. As far as I can see the download process is good, here are no odd files in there, I have mib 1 & mib 2 & the text file. I' ll keep trying but will use the agent if necessary. Of course my Columbus might be duff, though everything seems to work ok.

Map updates - Again!!!!
That is exactly the same process that I have followed several times. I have used different formats out of frustration, but Fat32 was on most. I have contacted a local Skoda agent who will do it at no charge and I will probably take this route in conjunction with my MOT later this year. I understand that the use the internet process direct. Thanks for everyone who has offered suggestions etc. I am plainly not the only owner who has suffered!!!

Map updates - Again!!!!
I haven't had a problem downloading , its just getting the car to receive it! My download from the skoda site is now extracting and I will try again. I noticed '(1)' after this download so some change at least. I hope that I can get out of the Waypoint setting that I accidentally triggered! Never rains but it pours!!!

Map updates - Again!!!!
I have considered this tbh. My car is parked in my drive alongside the house with my server within feet, on the other side of the wall! I have a wi-fi booster which I could employ if needed. I am at the moment waiting for another download to finish and I will try again. I will have a look at how to connect the car with the internet. Do you use your phone or is it direct from the Infotainment system? I inadvertently touched the 'Waypoint' section and couldn't cancel it, so that needs sorting first.

Map updates - Again!!!!
Thanks for that offer BOD20 , much appreciated. I haven't quite given up yet! Trying a new update, from the official Skoda site this time. Will get back to you when I've had enough!!! Thanks again.

Map updates - Again!!!!
Still no success! Might have to try a dealer and actually pay for the update. No real panic, not going anywhere so will just keep trying I guess. The data in the system is from 2018 so that might be too old in the tooth to update?

Map updates - Again!!!!
Just back from another unsuccessful attempt. When I go to settings it does fleetingly tell me that it is reading the USB/SD and I go to the 'Version' tag, tap the update option, this then tells me that its looking for the updates but eventually tells me that it can't find any! Mine is a 2017 Superb and it sounds as it is the same version as Jeff's! I now have two USB's with the info on as set out on previous posts, extracted by different computer apps. I am going to try putting the data onto an SD chip to see if that works. It is something really simple but very frustrating!!!

Map updates - Again!!!!
Got that! Can't see why it shouldn't work, but then I'm not a computer geek. I'll keep trying and hoping.

Map updates - Again!!!!
Thanks for your response! I have tried after removing the odd content but again, no joy. I am now downloading again from Martinib 's post. I noticed on another post that someone had success after unzipping using 7zip, so I might try that at some point.

Map updates - Again!!!!
Hi sorry to have to re-visit this topic again but I have downloaded the Zip File and unloaded that (version 187) and tried to update the car (2017 version Columbus). The car can't find any data. Having checked my usb stick (64GB) I find a file in addition to the Map file. It is annotated WMPInfo, xml Dated 31/12/2097 (xml doc). The date of 2097 intrigues me. Have we been in lockdown that long? I am inclined to delete the WMP file and try again. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Updating Columbus
Got it, thanks. Just finished download!!

Updating Columbus
Thanks for that! I have downloaded that thinking it had been updated. However, the Skoda portal seems to indicate downloading directly to a SD or USB stick, or am I wrong again. My last effort was downloaded as a zip file, unzipped onto my computer hard disc and then onto a 64 GB stick. I haven't tried to update the car yet. Will the direct download from Skoda work without unzipping, as it seems to indicate? What should the stick be formalised as?

Updating Columbus
I have version HIGH 12 P184 EU 2020, is that the old version?

Stiffer suspension?
Hi, thanks for the post, atm I haven't had a chance to tow anywhere. My very few runs in the car to date are very positive so I'll get out and towing asap. My interest in cars runs ahead of my properly analysed requirements I'm afraid! I started messing about with building cars (we called the 'specials' in those days started when Colin Chapman (Lotus) was still building Austin Seven specials!!!! He moved on of course but I continued! I have never tried spring assistors but know at least one caravanner who uses them. I can't see that it will be that bad tbh. We'll just wait and see and hope that Covid disappears asap.
