  1. RootToot, you are spot on. When I was with Kia, I had a service book. It did have different pages for different service acquirements. Also informed you what they needed to do at every service. A very upfront way of telling what was involved and completely above board. Skoda are not very open as what a service involves. Not a practice I like.
  2. My car that had glass headlamps was a 2015 Kia 4 tech. Not that many years ago. The Skoda Karoq is still the best car I've had. Please don't knock readers opinions, we are all entitled to our views.
  3. I have been a bit harsh in my comments. Never had plastic headlamps in a car before, and my last car was only five years old. I went for a drive today and left my headlights on. Yes they did clear. Thank you to all the members who commented. I admit, you learn something new each day.
  4. I agree that LED headlamps are an improvement over halogen or xenon. What I'm concerned with is the fact that dealers, so I've heard, think that headlamps getting misted up is normal. Surely the condensation will, in a long run cause electrical failure. Men can be sent to the moon, but Skoda cannot make sealed headlamps. I have had many cars over the years, and never suffered headlamp condensation.
  5. I have owned many cars in my time, my karoq @£30k 16 months old suffers with condensation in one headlamp. All my other cars have had glass headlamps, not cheap plastic like Skoda. Wish I'd known about this problem before buying, would have saved my money.
  6. It has been there for days. It doesn't look wet, just a dry fog, if you know what I mean. Thanks for your reply.
  7. Sorry if been asked 100's of times. Has anyone had their headlamps go misty from the inside. If so is it a warranty item. Only done 4900 miles, 16 months old. Thanks
  8. Thanks Paul.....It seems a bit of a minefield. Got the car 16 months ago, was never offered a plan when new. Because it was set to Flexible they just said see you in two years. Then got a email saying my service was overdue. All I've had is an Inspection service this month. I have asked if I can go on fixed, and buy a plan. Now waiting to see what Skoda say. Cheers for your informative post.
  9. Thanks Xman, Some say on flexible you have the inspection service every 24 months. Dealers say you have them every 12 months. I will get it put on fixed whilst its in warranty. After that I'll get my local mechanic to service it and change the filters when needed, most dealers don't change them anyway. I can see when the breaks are warn. I used to service my own cars, but they have made that awkward now. Have a good day mate.
  10. Hi Chris, Thank you for the information you provided, the VW site gave a better indication of what is needed. I think when I have my 1st Flexible service, I will get it changed to Fixed. 9,300 miles between services seem very short periods. If I have to go to the dealer for inspections once a year, no point in having flexible. Just wish they would publish like other companies, and have a chart from 1st service to service 6th would make life a bit easier. XMAN, You are right about price because of the difference in long life oils. Thanks
  11. Thank you guys for your input. CJJE. I want to keep the flexible 2 year service. It was the dealer who said I must have a inspection every year. Even called Skoda, they were no help. Kept advising to speak to a main dealer. One just ends up going round in circles. Dealer said they can't predict what's needed on a flexible service, as it is very awkward to price.
  12. This has probably been asked before, so bare with me. I have a Karoq from new set on flexible service. 2 years or 18,000 miles. After 1 year I had a inspection service, lights work, bodywork OK, in other words just looked around it, £60. I asked the dealer, can I buy a service plan, and was told no, because it is set on flexible servicing, they tried their best to get it put on every year, or 10,000 miles. Does anyone know if that is correct that I cannot have a service plan, and what would be the reason. Look forward to your helpful replies.
  13. You do not get free servicing on a new car, unless you take up their pcp package.

    Google Maps

Thank you John999boy. I downloaded from the site, and the speed cameras showed up on my map. It works. Having said that, it says the database was updated 04.06.2020. I have to inform everyone that it's well out of date. Cameras that have be around for a while, were missing, and cameras that have been removed are still showing. It's a pity they can't be updated from another source. I suppose you cannot complain, it being free.

    Google Maps

Thanks John, I've spent weeks searching these forums, and most are 3 to 5 years out of date. You can load them to work with the Columbus system. They don't work with the Amundsen MIB2 system. I have been using pocketGPSworld since 2006, never had a problem. The problem is getting software to convert the files and icons from PocketGPSworld to work on the Amundsen unit. Never mind I'll have to use Waze, that works very well. Once again thank you.

    Google Maps

Thank you all for your replies, appreciated. Just wish I could sort out how to place speed cameras onto map. I load them in, but the camera icons are just blurred. Looks like a 1cmx1cm pixilated square. I use pocketGPSworld for files, and use POIbase to load onto card.

    Google Maps

Hi John999boy. If I route to a destination, the route is highlighted by a green line showing the route. The chess pawn very tiny markers are still on the map. I have no idea what they are.

I have a Amundsen Navigation system (GEN2 MIB2) on a 2020 Karoq. Has anyone else noticed, a small black chess like symbol on local roads on their maps? It seems to been where there are road names. I've never noticed it before.
  21. Hi All, This is all the information I know about my system. Software MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0478T Device part No 565035874 Hardware H41 Software 0478 Navigation database 5L0051236BJ (GEN2 MIB2) 1310 ECE AS 2020 Shield: Shield 2016-44-(Build 309) Media code 4101.0.0.0 Bluetooth Ver C300 Smartlink 4101.438.1.5 Radio database ver 1.10.10 USB surfstick ver 4101.438.1.5 Thanks for your help.
  22. Hi Rob, I download speed cameras from PocketGPSworld.co.uk, Their files are CSV, GPX, ACS, OV2. I might be wrong but Amundsen Navigator uses db3 files. I'm at a loss, as I pay for Pocketgpsworld's files. Thanks anyway.
  23. You already have the latest update. The one on this site is a year out of date.
  24. I have just come across your post. I'm at a loss how to set out the sd card. Do I give the sd card a name when I format it fat32. Do I then make a folder "PersonalPOI". Then unzip the camera files to that folder. I get my speed camera files from PockerGPSworld. What if I have other poi's. Say, shops or zoos, do they all go into the same folder, "PersonalPOI"..Sorry if I seem a bit confused. Thank you for your reply in advance.
  25. Is there anyone out there, who can give advice how to upload My Own POI's to Amundsen navigation unit in: Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG . 2020 plate. System Information is:- Device part number 565035874 Hardware H41 Software 0478 Navigation database:- 5L0051236BJ 1310 ECE AS 2020 Everything I look at points to Octavia, or it is in German. I've seen MIB2HIGH, MIB2 unit. For the Amundsen MIB2, MIB2TSD folder. I haven't a clue what any of that means. I would be grateful if anyone could give a step by step guide, on how to install my own POI's on the above system, what ever that is. Thank you in advance.
