  1. Today, I mostly left her at home and drove SWMBO's Mokka 200 miles to the sister in laws......TBH (said quietly) I was impressed. 136bhp, three pots and a light body made for a fun drive across the country a and b roads. On the way back I discovered the sport button that made it even more fun. Swap???? Never but good for a blast!
  2. Continuously variable transmission https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission Hope this helps
  3. Wanted to upcycle the old mat from the Volvo boot. Added some carpet and some contact adhesive. A small strip of stainless steel and a couple of bolts..... Threw it into the boot, went for a spirited drive and this happened. Wanted to protect the (dirty) bumper. Happy with that for no cost.
  4. 100% agree, in fact at low speed I quite often miss a gear change or two, as in don't realise it has changed.
  5. I can't comment on CVT but I do find the DSG very smooth. I had a Volvo XC60 as a company car previously, that was incredibly smooth, the electric motor ran seamlessly with the 2 litre engine and felt almost like it never changed gear, unless in sport with the right foot buried! The DSG isn't far behind. Didn't like the DSG/auto handbrake combination when trying to creep slowly into a reversing space, but that's just learning the car. I did have a CVT in the '70s, a 50cc Mobylette. That just screamed and didn't go anywhere, unless downhill!
  6. Upskirting on a Zebra crossing? Just a thought, sorry for my mind!!
  7. Looks like a camera to me. Dashcam with a different perspective?
  8. Just a little bump to keep this alive. Did my rears today, rain stopped play on the fronts. Thought I needed to take the front wheels off but after reading this, I'll get my coat! Parts from Skoda-parts.com, brilliant service.
  9. Used Platinum Skoda for a fleet of Octavias, for many years. So happy with them, I bought my Superb and they will be servicing it.
  10. Fitted the VW (not Skoda) Data plug (same part number) and installed Connect Lite....... its not got a huge amount of data but if it means I can find the car it's worth it!!.....and £5 from eBay isn't going to break the bank!
  11. So it wasn't via the door rubbers at all. The air bag just keeps going and i wasn't going to cross it!! As previously mentioned between the dash and the A frame, below the dash board, then up the side of the windscreen, tucked neatly in and then across the top. The only issue I had was fuse 47 missing, no rear wiper, but the good news is although the output from the fuse is missing (there's only one set of contacts, so half a fuse holder) the fuse holder half that is there, is live. Happy days.
  12. Update below. It works! Now to find some other stuff to do! Got the dash cam to go in but it was peeing down on Saturday. I did notice, no fuse for the rear wiper, not surprising as there is no wiper but didn't get as far as testing it... Bloody weather!! Put the 16inch space saver in the boot, so that needs checking on the car but it seems OK, after placing it carefully against the existing 17" on the car.
  13. My new toy.... MY2020 1.5 DSG SE...... shame its not the SE L I wanted but genuine 4.5K miles was too alluring. Returning my company XC60 phev on Friday so a welcome to retirement I guess.
