  1. It was more important SWMBO was happy!! 🤣
  2. I can only speak as I find. I thought the Octavia was as comfortable if not a little more than the Superb from the drivers seat. Certainly no noisier, albeit I only drove it for an extended test drive, Circa 130 miles. If anything it drives in a more taut manner, probably due to the lesser size/weight. I'm not looking for vRS handling or Rolls Royce quiet. Motorway driving was relaxed, A roads including some pretty dodgy Welsh road surfaces controlled and confortable. Throttle response was better, and concidering the driving style employed (ex Service Engineer) fuel consumption was better. Both cars are of a similar mileage, the Octavia slightly newer at just over 2 yrs old. Horses for courses I guess, but I liked it.
  3. It's true, I am deserting the Suberb fold and joining the Octavia owners. We test drove the Octavia and was I very pleasantly surprised. Whist it is smaller on the road it didn't feel small inside, I'm just under 6ft and a few pounds heavier than I should be but was very comfortable in it.
  4. I may have just traded it for a 2022 1.5 TSI SE L Octavia manual Hatch.... similar miles (sub 11k) and similar colour. Deposit paid (99 of the squids) online but fully refundable. Much as I love the DSG when on the open road and the gear change is seamless most of the time I just can't get past the 'Its not proper driving' plus we're going to sell swmbo's car and the Superb is a little HUGE! Am I correct in thinking the 1.5 TSI will be ACT as well?
  5. We're in the same position. Albeit SWMBOs chariot is a small petrol SUV. Cost wise the Superb isn't much different to the Mokka, although I do tend to drive them differently. The Superb is a relaxing 70 mph whereas the 1.2 Turbo Mokka needs a bit of poking. Having said that, with the sports button pressed it's fun, but for short journeys! One day we'll be sensible and reduce to a one car household but until that day....
  6. I was told years ago by an old mechanic friend of the family to run the a/c at least once a week. Having had a few PHEV's as a company car and very carefully checked mpgs over the years, it does cost a little but not as much as you'd think. Initially with the Outlander, I didn't use the heater or a/c but after a few winter months of coat wearing, I gave up and used the creature comforts!!
  7. Despite buying a DA I LIKE to polish by hand but I also suffer from the 'car looks nice' right shoulder! Why, why, why do I alway only use my right hand to polish the car? I try to use both hands but within a few minutes realise that the left is redundant again.
  8. What rating are they though? My card is a SanDisk Extreme V30 (200 MB/s IIRC). It might be worth chucking £14 at the problem and buying something like this
  9. I'm using a 128Gb micro card and adapter. No issues. It was an old card from my drone so 4K speed, maybe it's a speed issue?
  10. Many thanks. Having read these threads raises another question. Has the problem been resolved when the engine starts on pressing the button?
  11. Can you tell me where this fits? Is it below the switch? Mine only does fairly short journeys so isn't a major issue but...... Many thanks.
  12. Does any body else take too much on holiday? Whenever we go to the caravan I always pack 'site stuff', 'going out' stuff and 'evening wear' (clean jeans!). I then proceed to wear one pair of shorts all two weeks!!
  13. Today, I mostly left her at home and drove SWMBO's Mokka 200 miles to the sister in laws......TBH (said quietly) I was impressed. 136bhp, three pots and a light body made for a fun drive across the country a and b roads. On the way back I discovered the sport button that made it even more fun. Swap???? Never but good for a blast!
  14. Continuously variable transmission https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission Hope this helps
  15. Wanted to upcycle the old mat from the Volvo boot. Added some carpet and some contact adhesive. A small strip of stainless steel and a couple of bolts..... Threw it into the boot, went for a spirited drive and this happened. Wanted to protect the (dirty) bumper. Happy with that for no cost.
  16. 100% agree, in fact at low speed I quite often miss a gear change or two, as in don't realise it has changed.
  17. I can't comment on CVT but I do find the DSG very smooth. I had a Volvo XC60 as a company car previously, that was incredibly smooth, the electric motor ran seamlessly with the 2 litre engine and felt almost like it never changed gear, unless in sport with the right foot buried! The DSG isn't far behind. Didn't like the DSG/auto handbrake combination when trying to creep slowly into a reversing space, but that's just learning the car. I did have a CVT in the '70s, a 50cc Mobylette. That just screamed and didn't go anywhere, unless downhill!
  18. Upskirting on a Zebra crossing? Just a thought, sorry for my mind!!
  19. Looks like a camera to me. Dashcam with a different perspective?
  20. Just a little bump to keep this alive. Did my rears today, rain stopped play on the fronts. Thought I needed to take the front wheels off but after reading this, I'll get my coat! Parts from Skoda-parts.com, brilliant service.
  21. Used Platinum Skoda for a fleet of Octavias, for many years. So happy with them, I bought my Superb and they will be servicing it.
  22. Fitted the VW (not Skoda) Data plug (same part number) and installed Connect Lite....... its not got a huge amount of data but if it means I can find the car it's worth it!!.....and £5 from eBay isn't going to break the bank!
  23. So it wasn't via the door rubbers at all. The air bag just keeps going and i wasn't going to cross it!! As previously mentioned between the dash and the A frame, below the dash board, then up the side of the windscreen, tucked neatly in and then across the top. The only issue I had was fuse 47 missing, no rear wiper, but the good news is although the output from the fuse is missing (there's only one set of contacts, so half a fuse holder) the fuse holder half that is there, is live. Happy days.
  24. Update below. It works! Now to find some other stuff to do! Got the dash cam to go in but it was peeing down on Saturday. I did notice, no fuse for the rear wiper, not surprising as there is no wiper but didn't get as far as testing it... Bloody weather!! Put the 16inch space saver in the boot, so that needs checking on the car but it seems OK, after placing it carefully against the existing 17" on the car.
