  1. My 20 plate Octavia hatch was purchased in June 2020 on a Solutions PCP. Under the finance agreement, I asked in July for a complete settlement cash figure to buy it outright. Paid the cash by bank transfer and its now all mine free from any obligations.
  2. A few days ago now, ajw1100 mentioned this 'bong' chime could be associated with a dashcam. Yup, it sure is! After exhaustive testing, note keeping and observations, I realise the sound only happens when my Aukey dashcam boots up or saves its video files. Thanks ajw1100
  3. (Love the typos and banter my post has generated ) Just to say many thanks for all your idea and thoughts on my post -- all appreciated. So far I cannot put it down to any of these situations or faults. Will try out some things and see how we go.
  4. On my Octavia 2019 1.5 SE L hatch, there is a recurring soft 'bong' chime sound quite regularly. It is not the door open or seatbelt warning sound. On the dash, no alert lights or alarms show. Quite a mystery! It is in the background and not obviously linked to any event/data/switch or other action. Does anyone have a possible explanation? While the chime is not intrusive, loud or annoying it would be nice to know what it is. Thanks in advance, folks.
  5. Well ... I double checked the situation today. Yup, sure enough, the ski portal access-cum-armrest takes up the space where the headrest anchor bars would normally go. So, it means my Octavia hatch is a four seater, with an occasional use of the rear centre seat. Other posters have commented similarly. Clive
  6. Cheers for Gerrycan mentioning the rear centre headrest height adjustment -- or lack of it when associated with the 'ski' portal. Today, I had three up for the first time in the back of my 2019 Octavia hatchback. I tried to raise the rear centre headrest to a safe height but failed. Could not work out why for the life of me. Will double check the situation tomorrow...
  7. Many thanks to all who replied to offer their opinions and experience. I read them all and, as a new poster, now appreciate this BRISKODA forum's deep knowledge. On reflection, I shall save my money and not do this early oil/filter change. The Skoda 2-year fixed price service plan will be used and I shall drive the car sensibly and not stressed/trashed in the first few months. After two weeks of ownership, I have only covered 290 miles. Thanks again for all your comments. Clive
  8. My first Skoda Octavia Mk3 1.5 TSI DSG hatch is brand new, barely two weeks old and comes with the 2-year fixed price service offer. Is it worthwhile booking it in (and me paying for) at 1,000 mile point a simple engine oil and filter change by the Skoda dealer? As an engineer, I fully understand that machines do need to be run in and some early wear/oil contamination is likely. I want to keep the car for up to five years, so early care might be prudent?? What are your thoughts? Anyone else done a similar thing?
  9. In June 2020, I collected my first ever Skoda, a 1.5 petrol DSG Octavia SE L hatch in grey. After owning c.14 cars throughout my life, this is only my second-ever, brand new, no previous owners, shiny new car with only 11 miles on the clock. Am I excited? Yup, I sure am. Clive from North Kent
