  1. You need an RCD330 that’s Skoda specific. Look for one of those. They have them for VW (I have purchased one) but it has red buttons instead of green.
  2. You saw the route I went listed above with Pab. Get with him, he will get you squared away if he’s still doing it. It’s not gonna be cheap regardless, so if you have to replace it, you might as well go through someone reputable and get an upgrade to Apple CarPlay than trying to get a used set off of eBay that may or may not work and won’t be programmed to your vehicle. He got me squared away, shipped to my house, plug and play ready except for content protection on the amp. (It worked, but I only had one speaker). I can only say kind words about the guy.
  3. Yes to all of that. Lol. It all works. Gotta send a file of the options specific to your car from VCDS and it will all be programmed to your new unit. It will be explained to you like it was explained to me if you pull the trigger. The picture on the front of my unit is of a MY18, but it’s still a škoda estate.
  4. @Jbeat, I went with option 1. Works great. MIB2 with Apple CarPlay. I did have to get a MIB2 amplifier from Pab. He’s an absolute pleasure to work with. Everything came pretty much plug and play and has been running like a champ ever since. I just installed an aftermarket reversing cam on it.
  5. Ok last question I hope. If I were to purchase the 3vxxxx21c, could I take it to Škoda and have them remove content protection and active car functions, do it myself, or find other options to have it done.
  6. So I just purchased a 2014MY Octavia RS and my wife is adamant on having carplay here in Australia. If I'm correct, I currently have a Columbus MIB1 and to achieve this, my easiest route is to get an MIB2 Columbus unit and my screen would not need to be replaced. Programming would have to be done on the new MIB2, and I would need a new USB interface, but other than that I should be good to go...or am I way off base here. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
