  1. Thanks for your quick response. Don't really know what you mean by attaching a permanent wire.
  2. Thanks for that. Please see attachment...I guess this is the Neg attachment ?
  3. Have a 19 plate Octavia Estate. Bought a Ring charger a year ago (just in case) Thought I would try it out the other day. Checking my manual, it says the Negative lead should be attached to a 'fixing point ' just behind the battery. Couldn't quite make out the picture shown, but did look like this was an attachment (Ground?) point for Neg leads from battery. So am I correct in thinking this L shaped bracket is the connection point for charger? So why not Neg to Neg on battery?
  4. Thanks everyone, to be honest I would have preferred a petrol as Paulski pointed out but I was thinking of maybe buying a caravan, so hence the diesel for torque. Will bear all advice for the future and next time stick with petrol. Hopefully sooner than later.
  5. Thanks everyone, sounds as if you are all advising yearly. myOctavia is now 13 months old with around 2300 miles. In the past with other cars, I tend to go around every 18 months. Should my diesel be treated any differently?
  6. Three months ago bought a 'nearly new' (2019) 1400 miles on clock. Octavia 2.0l Se-l estate TDI Have enquired about its first service. I have been informed by dealership that the regime is flexible, which is after 2years or 20k. I currently only cover approximately 6000 miles per year, mostly local driving. I thought I may need a basic oil change within first 2 years?? Does this info sound correct?
  7. Just seen Skoda King's post, saying it's the air flowing through the exhaust.
  8. Thanks guys I did crawl underneath for a better listen. The ''hiss' is actually coming from the exhaust pipes themselves. Not sure why though? I did upload a sound file in earlier post.
  9. Thanks for that. Only bought the car at beginning of August. ( Main dealership) Just over 2000 miles now on 2019 plate so will have a word.
  10. Here is an update to earlier thread with sound file. Engine on tick-over. Octavia E aac_VID_20200915_161318419.mp4 state 2019, 2.0l diesel
  11. Ahhh, OK. Will get a sound file and upload it.
  12. Octavia Estate 2.0l diesel 2019 Walking to the rear of the car (exhaust area) while the engine is running, there is a 'hissing' noise. Anybody else out there hearing the same, is this normal & what is it?
  13. Wow what a response!! Thanks Jake (greenstripe) & everyone, very informative. Hadn't even thought of regeneration. So I guess being a newer model this process is automatic if needed. So as this process is automated, I guess I do not need to buy DPF additives to add now & again? Also, yes the fan was going for a while. Thought the car was about to blow with the smell. Thanks again.
  14. Have had my Octavia Estate SE-L 2.0 (2019) nearly a month.Got home last night after driving 7 miles. On switching off engine we both remarked on a 'burning rubber' smell....I vaguely remember seeing another post on here mentioning same? Any ideas what maybe causing this. Done 1700 miles to date.
  15. Thanks for all the info. Yes I have thought about paying out the extra pennies for vpower, the way to go. Maybe just an occasional shot of additive down the line!! Thanks guys.
  16. Thanks guys, yes it does use AdBlue, does this also help with keeping the dpf clean or more of an environmental thing? Can I just top up the adblue whenever, or should I wait until the car tells me to (or miles left on pop up screen) On the subject of dpf, one of the supermarkets had a sale on with dpf cleaner & diesel additive so bought a few of each. Haven't used them yet, but my thinking was, a new engine, a shot of diesel additive now and again so keep it running clean. Any thoughts on using these selectively?
  17. Just purchased an Octavia 2.0 2019 Estate SE -L with 1400 miles. Are all models fitted with DPF's now? Would have preferred a petrol version but considering the price with 2 cars to part ex & this model was nearly new I was swayed. We don't intend to tow a caravan but will probably fit a towbar for a bike carrier so maybe the diesel will provide the extra torque. As far as the dpf is concerned I now work only 2 days a week, work 5 miles away using dual carriageway, a 10 minute run. I guess I will need to do an occasional longer run to keep dpf clean??
  18. Hi John. I as a new member will say "hello" even if nobody else does. I joined today. Just bought my first Skoda, an Octavia Estate 2019 SE-L 2.0 with 1400 miles on the clock. Very impressed so far. A campervan I would love, great for weekends away & somewhere dry to put the kettle on!
  19. Just bought my first Skoda.....SE-L Estate 2.0 2019 1400 miles when purchased. Very impressed. Lots to discover. A little worried about having a dpf but will post under relevant topic.
