1.6tdi injector coding apps
Hi all, my brother has a 2010 octavia 1.6TDI that has just suffered a failed injector. I am pretty handy with a spanner and I am confident I can replace it for him. However, is there a way of coding the new injector to the car without forking out loads of cash on VCDS? Are there any less expensive apps that would do the job? The other option I suppose is to pay someone local to do it. Many thanks

Remapping on a stock clutch
It is probably so that nobody goes back and complains that their engine isn't producing the specified power. It could also be due to the fact that if they told the true power it could hurt sales of the more powerful/more expensive models in the range.

Remapping on a stock clutch
I did hear a rumour that these engines produced more power as stock than originally claimed. Many Gen 3 GTi's have been rolling roaded at around 260bhp stock. So the gain whilst still good isn't 100bhp

Remapping on a stock clutch
I don't think there is a huge difference between winter and summer petrol. Diesel is another matter as it has to contain anti waxing agents (often kerosene) to stop is solidifying in cold conditions. That makes your MPG worse. I am not too fussy where I fill up, Usually it is Esso or Shell as they are nearby but if I am near one of the supermarkets and their fuel is cheaper I will fill up there. I can't say that I have noticed any difference between them. On my standard car I was running standard E10, but tried a couple of Tanks of Esso momentum which is supposed to be E0 here. Logically you wpould expect a few more MPG due to the lower ethanol but again I couldn't tell any difference, nor in terms of power output.

Remapping on a stock clutch
I am thinking of getting a stage 1 map on my Mk7 Golf GTi which obviously has the same drivetrain as the VRS, and have had similar concerns with regard to the clutch. My car has done 40,000 miles and there are no hints of slip on the standard map. I am led to believe that 4wd cars such as the Golf R and S3 are more prone to slip, because the grip from the tyres is no longer the weakest part between the engine and the road. Obviously that wouldn't be true on high gear roll on acceleration, but it would be a factor in lower gear acceleration from lower speeds. I may just get it done, and if it slips either revert the car to standard and sell it, or buy an uprated clutch and fit it myself.

Definitive answer required. Blanking EGR and can it be done with DPF in place?
Thanks for the help everyone. We were going to physically blank it and then get the EGR mapped out, but if an emulator is the way to go that would probably work out at a similar cost. I know that during a regen the EGR is generally closed to increase combustion temperatures so that the regen is more effective. I have experience with Alfa and BMW diesels but not so much VAG.

Definitive answer required. Blanking EGR and can it be done with DPF in place?
Hi Everyone. I am posting this on behalf of my brother who has an Octavia 1.6 TDI CR The car appears to have had the emissions fix done back in 2018, and it would appear that now the car is suffering EGR sticking problems. On previous cars I have had the EGR blanked and turned off, and it hasn't affected the DPF or regens, but will it cause a problem on his car? There seems to be mixed information on this. Personally due to my experirnce with other marques I would say no but I would like to get a few more opinions before he gets it done. Many thanks

Hello everyone, I just found this forum as I am thinking of buying an Octavia VRS TFSi. I am currently running a BMW 120d, but need some more space and I would like to go back to petrol power. :)
