  1. I have noticed in these winter evenings that the interior door handle on the drivers side has light , illuminating it so you are not groping round in the dark :)

I have spotted that the passenger one is not lit up so guessing the bulb/s have gone,  I have scoured the net to try to find

    a) what bulbs are used,

& b) how to remove to replace.

I dont want to remove twice, want to get bulb/s 1st
    Can anyone help ?

    Thanks 👍

Hi , I wanted to ask about high millage Skoda as well , I found one Skoda superb 2.0tdi technology 2016 with millage 120k , is in worth checking it out or the millage is too high ? Relaying on the car description, there was  1 owner from new , service done every 15/20k and water pump and cam belt done at 116k

I bought a mk3 L&K 138k miles 2017, 2l diesel,DSG as long as it has full service history paperwork, if its DSG the oil is regularly changed you should be ok, the water pump & belt change has saved you around £500 already. Provided you continue to get service done regularly these older diesels are good for over 500k miles.

I would strongly recommend you test drive the car for at least 30 min, again if its DSG, if you feel ANY gearchange then it will be a new clutch in the near future ( had to do mine 😞 )

  3. To answer both your questions in 1 word - YES .

I recently bought a 2016 L&K & traffic sign recognition just needs to be activated using VCDS, also did you check if the leds on the fan dial lit when knob was rotated, some were not so, these would need to be coded on as well.

If you want the paddles you will need to buy the paddles with wiring loom to connect in, then this will also need coding in with VCDS. Its easier for the VCDS owner to do both paddles and traffic at the same time. Price the whole job up 1st then decide. Personally if you have the DSG why bother with paddles, might as well just have a manual. ;)

When I bought mine, I have a friend here in the South East who has the full blown VCDS and knows his stuff, to plug in and check for errors, he activated everything that could be & even permanently switched off the stop start ( so I do not have to press the deactivate button every time I use the car) .

Word of advice If you want anyone to do any VCDS work on your car make sure they come well recommended and have done paddle fit before, get this wrong and it can cause major problems, just 1 setting out and you can have very strange effects. ( I fitted a MFSW and when it was coded in the horn stopped working :) was very simple to fix as the guy knew what he was doing ).

    good luck on your choice

    Hey guys.
I would like to update my map for navigation, I have seen in several places also at Skoda Portal

that it is just to download the file and put it on the SD card (of course unzip first) or buy a larger 32GB if I want the whole of Europe.

must only be a minimum of Class 10.
But I can not make it work, have tried copying from the original and over to 32gb and it also does not work when I put it in the car.

I have formatted the card in the same standard as the original Skoda SD card. Any good ideas?

My car is an Octavia Combi 1.4TSI DSG from 2018 with Amundsen navi.

Only way I could do mine.

Had to be done on a PC - dont use a MAC

    download zip file.

    do not unzip .

Open the zip file, then Copy / Paste to the fully formatted SD Card.

Hi guys, could anyone please explain how to update maps on the 32 gb sd card that came with my 19 plate karog 1.5.

Ive tried 3 times and the process freezes at about 45%. Is it possible im trying to download the wrong maps.

I was trying to download 2018/9 europe 2020.

It seems its not as easy to update as the vid on youtube suggests.

    I

Have the original Skoda supplied SD Card, have you reformatted the card @ FAT32 and tried.

Get your chassis number from the car and make a note of it. ( usually  in a little window in either driver or passenger side of windscreen )

Goto the Skoda downloads site and put in your chassis number.

Download the latest  maps file onto a Windows PC  ( not a MAC ).

extract the downloaded file onto your reformatted card.

Insert the card and follow the on screen instructions .

  6. Recently accquired a mk 3 Superb and the parcel shelf strings are missing 😞

Having looked around I can see why , the peg in the shelf is a massive weak point  so I want to use what they use in the Fabia / Octavia, the heavy rubber ball on the underside the shelf.

So having spent too may hours trying to find out the length of these strings,  does anyone know -

How long the genuine Superb strings are ? ( so I can make my own up if the Fabia / Octavia ones are too short )

How long the Fabia / Octavia ones are . ( I may be able to get from a write off if they are ok.)

    Thanks

  7. I have just spent a bit of time researching before I bought my Superb, looking at 15 / 16 plates , Diesel hatches with 50-60K on the clock, private sale are £12,500 - 15,000, depending on condition, and service history, and lower end price if they have been 2 owner ( most likely pre reg cars). Estates were approx 500 more as there seems to be less of them around. Dealers were £16,000 - £17.500

Experience has shown that there are a few people who are not keen if the car has had pets in, as animal hair is a real B... to get out of the carpets,  also just be aware that you won't get anything back on boot liner or cage price wise.
Also just a thought, you say that the cage was specifically made for the car , so taking it out and selling it separately will be very time-consuming  convincing a potential new owner it would fit their car.

Any buyer will take the bootliner, specially in the estate.

Personally with such low miles + being an Estate I personally would set sale price at £16,499 , and not take less than £15,900 with cage you would sell but not too quickly unless there is someone specifically looking at your spec. and  you - WILL - get chancers offering you £12.5 - £13, using low miles not being good for engine / its had a pet - personally tell them to get lost. Quick sale - No offers £15,000

When you do put it up for sale, expect the following questions,  Whats your very / Best price ?  Will you take £ {stupid offer] ? , What do you want for it ?

Specially from our easter European residents ( sorry if you think this is a racist or whatever comment but its a fact). Also beware if you sort of agree a price they turn up to have a look and then suddenly drop their offer , making up any excuse.  Just say goodbye and walk away from them.

I am telling you this based on recent experience selling my winter wheels from the Yeti, and my son selling his car to buy my remapped Fabia VRs.

Set your sale price above your real wanted price and stick to it.

  8. Recently picked up a 2015 Superb L&K , Gizmo has used his magic VCDS to activate all that can be 👍 Many Thanks.

The boot is humungous , very comfortable , amount of toys is like being in an electronics toy store .  The Fabia vRS is a great car and I will miss it,( gone but not forgotten) but its time for comfort.

    Hi All,

great forum full of invaluable knowledge!

Due to budget airlines currently not operating, I found myself having to do a 900 mile trip across Europe to Czech republic possibly every 2 weeks until our house here is sold. Car will be used here for 30min journey to work on lovely twisty b roads plus the long trips home. Budget is tight but at the same time don't want to end up on a hard shoulder too many times. I have found lovely unmolested Fabia VRS mk1 for around 2k with VOSA guaranteed 100k on the clock. Not bothered about too much of comfort, I have a good phone nav and external speaker, what I need is something reasonably economical that will be happy to sit on the autobahn at 100 mph for few hours and not be a total pig on my commute to work here in UK. I have driven one couple of times years ago and remember having a total blast. Does this make sense for what I need? Many thanks!

I have my 2nd MK1 VRS, which blew a turbo and replaced with a PD150 fitted as the car is remapped ( has 160k miles), could have had a refurbed PD130 which should be fine as a replacement for the unmolested you have found,  Try and find out if there is history with it, check when water-pump and belts were done ( should be 80 k / 5 years), As long as it has been serviced regularly, engine is bulletproof.  Check carpets are not damp / wet otherwise it has the dreaded leak  and replacement of ALL door seals  seems to be the best fix as it can be virtually impossible to track down where it is.  Plod at 130 kph on European motorways and you can get 48 - 50 mpg, rack it up to 160 kph and you may be lucky to see 45 mpg.
If you want decent handling on the B roads either strut brace front and rear, or invest in a decent suspension that lowers car 20 - 30mm, beware with suspension you get what you pay for ( I have Bilstien Sport S2 which are not cheap but excellent).
The stock head unit with speakers is not good, replace it with a know brand unit,  even the Sony single. DIN actually show how pretty decent the speakers are, I have a Pioneer Android Unit with stock speakers and sound is pretty good.

    Hi,

I know there are a few posts on this but to be more specific. I am thinking of installing a tuning box onto my 150bhp 2.0tdi.

I was considering racechip gts but they don't offer engine warranty in Ireland. This is the same with dtuk and tdi tuning.. I was looking at tuningbox.com evolution. It offers a 2 year engine warranty.. Bluetooth app control etc..

Has anyone had any experience with tuning box evolution?

Also has anyone used a tuning box on the 150bhp 2.0tdi... Have you had issues or are you happy with the gains? Remap isn't an option as I don't want to drive up and down 2 hours or more to get the map reverted everytime I get a service. Cheers..

Dont understand why you would mess about putting on and taking off the remap just for a service ?

Unless whomever is doing your service dives into the ecu  to check the configuration of it, they will never know. or they drive the car and notice the increase in torque.

I have had 2 Skodas that were remapped and dealers never said anything after service, about warranty invalidated .

Unless you were trying to get over 200 BHP from your 150, then this will stress parts and cause failures,

Any decent person who does remaps would kill their business if they did maps that caused damage.

  11. it boils down to budget , and the number of miles , and how much space do you really need ( not want).

You already know how big the Octy is with the seats down, Superb is a lot bigger,  If you are doing less than 18k miles a year then it should be petrol,  with those in mind it just boils down too how much you have.

  12. Keep hunting, till you find one you like, I have been on the hunt for a while , found one, but lockdown stops me going for it.
Have seen a couple of others since as alternatives IF this one falls through.

Are you concerned about High milage Diesel ? if not there are some 2015 / 2016 at good / decent prices.

  13. Having had plenty of Skodas, 2x MK1 Octavia, on 2nd MK1 Fabia vRS,  MK2 FL octavia VRs, Wife had a MK2 Fabia 1.2, we currently have an L&K Yeti 👍👍👍 alongside my vRS.

I have decided that I now want some comfort and am waiting for lockdown to be lifted as have found a 2015 L&K Superb, 120K miles - 1 owner ,150 Diesel , DSG, FSH , all paperwork, I did look around and could have got lower miles lesser spec model for same price but am fed paying the ever increasing annual tax , this is £20  which swung it for me.
I have done all the checks and have access to someone on here who has had Superbs since they came out - IIRC, so can pick their brains for niggly bits.

Cragyboy9 - suggest you keep looking as plenty come out each day, specially as it looks like I will be paying around 1500 more than you are going to pay.

  14. Where I work has 4 Nero ( unfortunately Plug in Hybrids) work cars, and have had a few drives, was quite impressed with it.

Solid build quality, slightly soft of firm ride, coped will with potholes, LOTS of toys perhaps too many that will be used all the time ( that explains the HUGE  manual).  They were Auto's and liked the handbrake being a foot pedal, you could actually feel when it was being applied and released.

Would I personally have one, Yes if they weren't Hybrid.

Hi, Only too glad to help, the part number on box is

3T0905217CWHS Start-Stop Switch, paid about £32, from TPS Poole, genuine parts supplier (branches Nationwide I believe).

I resisted changing it until it was absolutely necessary.

    Good Luck

    Many thanks

Trying to get right part number from Internet was nightmare it was giving me number for Karoq,  while it might actually be the same not taking any chances.

Will order and when it arrives it will get done immediately .  you pick random points on the button for it to start, and its pot luck when you hit it,

Yes did try spray and it lasted a couple of days.

  16. Really useful info, I have the same issue on our Yeti  you have to guess where to press the button for the engine to fire up 😡
The car is 6 in May and used every day.

Hope you dont mind answering the following ?
Do you have the ETKA part number?

    How much was it ?

Where did you get it from ?

I really need to change ours it is soo frustrating ☹️☹️.
