  1. The Kamiq has been thrown outside temporarily whilst I prepared the boss's car for winter. all done now and pretty pleased with the result of two days work. Hope you agree. Steve
  2. the more i drive it the better and smoother it gets. took it in this morning re sos warning re passenger airbag, needs an actual replacement part ( not in stock) . had a steady ish drive there and back sticking to limits mostly 110 kph as mostly dual carriageway. averaged 47.4 mpg for round trip including town stop start stuff, so well impressed as it has only done just over 600 kms now and engine still tight. love it, feels more lively and responsive and less ponderous than the old Karoq and actually only a few inches difference in size but less height which must affect cog. well happy
  3. horses for courses, we all like different things, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, hence we all like different cars and different aspects of them, thank goodness we have choice
  4. no, not really, all ranges of suv's seem a bit like russian dolls these days, only so much you can do with a shell five doors and acheive the amount of space you need and get economy figures governed by wind tunnel tech, citroen id very different
  5. thanks Zoharin, i hope so too. fingers crossed it will be a simple ten minute fix
  6. you mean Citroen perhaps. I don't agree
  7. Hi there, thank you for the reply, the language had deferred to french as it was purchased in France. luckily I've now sorted it and also done a system reboot thereby solving the Front Assist defect. the passenger Airbag won't go out after several attempts to switch on and off, so taking it in tomorrow to my dealer to analyse what is causing problem. I suspect software rather than hardware fault. In any case I appreciate your reply and thank you for it. regards Steve
  8. Hi, hope someone can help. got an error message on my screen SOS Airbag and Front assist fault. So thought i'd do a factory reset to see if it cured the problem. only trouble is it has defaulted back to french and I can't seem to access right screen to reset language to english. any help please appreciated regards Steve ( if you can tell me how to reset on an english car it would probably help me navigate all the screens)
  9. Yep all done, really intuitive when you know how to do it.
  10. Nice when common sense prevails
  11. Yes, and it's brilliant, again to judge by size is a flawed theory, LED tech ensures excellent visibility, and I drive a lot on unlit country roads. You don't have to imagine how something is if you try it first.
  12. I would never judge another's purchase decision as strange, without knowledge of the decision making process, you may see it as a downgrade, I don't, hence my purchase. Purchase decisions are not only objective, but subjective too. I also run a citigo and new fiat ducato campervan. all bought for differing reasons. As for your assertion of the Kamiq being, relatively, a tiny tin can, shows a real lack of appreciation of the car itself. I've run 6 Superbs over the past ten years, great cars, but then I did long distance stuff, carrying a lot of gear, I find the Kamiq a much more pleasant and responsive car than the Karoq, and very Golf like to drive ( hardly a tin can I feel). If you judge cars by square footage of sheet metal as the overriding criteria, I think it's a flawed process. Horses for courses, as they say, and each to his/ her own. over the years I've driven most stuff, from basic ( austin 1100/ ford escort) to exotic ( Citroen SM/ Maserati's) low and high performance. Apart from a WartburgKnight with Zero brakes, I've learned to appreciate what makes a car, but don't criticise other's choices as they are personal decisions!
  13. I agree re all season tyres, but I suppose the factories are tied into contracts negotiated on bulk supply basis. Just as an aside I changed to Micheline Cross Climates when I had my 2017 superb hatch, and it transformed the car, deadly accurate steering response and wet weather grip amazing. never had opportunity to drive in snow, but the ratings are good, I will definitely put them on the Kamiq when the time comes to change
  14. Hi JR, the Malus charge was 280 euros, the carte grise 414.76 euros and the delivery pack 390 euros ( nice little earner). The options list seems to be worked differently here and different from that as advertised on Skoda Fr. website, but being as the figures worked in my favour I accepted them! regards Steve
  15. Hi Edbostan No definitely not. prices over here are ludicrous by comparison. all in mine was just under 35000 euros about £31000 at today's rates, got a good discount of around 4000 euros, but big advantage over here is the comparatively slower rate of depreciation. got, what I considered, an excellent exchange on the Karoq so changed for about just over 8000 euros , two years old Karoq to fully loaded Kamiq 1.5tis dsg. lost touch with what's happening in the uk, but my last experiences on depreciation were horrid. seriously some of the prices here for used cars make buying new a no brainer, but just that bit more expensive I think
  16. I had the same conundrum with the Karoq, it had five year warranty so three to run, but what the heck, shrouds don't have pockets, if you want to do it, do it and enjoy the new car, I think you would be amazed at the progress the Kamiq gives. things move so fast these days, I love the digital dash for instance with a choice of five different views/ displays, not vital I know but really nice to have and gives the car some extra interest. Your dosh your decision, just my view on things. My life experiences make me think this way, but we're all different, and who's to say who's right. whatever you do, enjoy!
  17. Hi. apologies for delay in replying to this, new to Briskoda site. I get on fine with the access / egress, and it normally is a problem for me. Only 5ft 9 but with a relatively new hip replacement and fused spine, seating and seat height is very important. Once seat height set correctly for me, easy with electric seat option, absolute breeze to get in and out and I find I'm more comfortable in the Kamiq. The slightly lower driving position feels much nicer and less ponderous, and placing / manoeuvring really telepathic. I love it to drive, smooth very quiet and today, just returned from a 80km round trip including stop start in a local market town and averaged 50.2 mpg. And that's with a tight engine, the very best I got from the Karoq with the same set up mechanically was 44mpg. Really think I've done the right thing. Hope this helps. regards Steve
  18. Oh, and I forgot to mention Skoda Estelle!!!!!
  19. Hi all, just an introductory post. English but been living in Brittany now for two years. Always a petrol head and now on car 72 in my driving life. Range Rover Evoque ( disastrously bad) And Skoda's well, Octavia VRS tdi, superb hatch and estate's ( 3) Octavia VRS petrol (yum yum!) mk's. Bought my lhd Karoq in France and came back to uk in it and used it to move wife myself and three dogs to france including roof box and a ton of luggage, never missed a beat. Wife now has new Citigo petrol auto ( great piece of kit and lovely to drive) and I've just swapped the Karoq for the Kamiq you see here. Sorry if it's boring, but I just love cars. Best regards to all Steve
  20. I think you're right. I already immediately double click on the wheel option buttons to disable as soon as I set off. After 51years at the wheel I think i have managed nicely without hitherto, regards Steve
  21. Thanks, the gadgets are really good, but i soon disconnected the lane assist, horrible device that immediately becomes annoying. Fine if you sleep at the wheel all the time I suppose!
  22. thanks. it has genuinely surprised me as to how good it is. feels sophisticated and friendly at the same time. feel as comfortable and at home as in my last 3 series touring back in 2017, and that's real praise indeed
  23. Picked up my new Kamiq 1.5tsi dsg four days ago. love it already, so far, so much lighter and more responsive than the Karoq, loads of space, quiet , very smooth and already 47mpg. My twelfth Skoda and hope it will be equal to the others ( octavia, vrs, superb/ estate karoq etc)
