  1. Have you read the posts above? Unzip using Windows (right click, "extract all") rather than 7Zip or similar. I bet your download is OK, it's just been zipped oddly by VAG.
  2. Not sure if it helps but I got the stop/start dash warning, and limp mode, a few times last winter when it was cold and the car hadn't been used for some time. Charging the battery always fixed it, and it hasn't happened since. Maybe it's the first thing checked, or the most sensitive to low battery voltage
  3. I thought I'd read somewhere not to use micro SD cards in an SD adapter. I could never understand why, and as I happened to have a 64GB micro SD card handy I used that for the update, which worked fine.
  4. I found the new (2021/2022) update didn't fit on a 32GB card.
  5. The impression I got was that it's considered a factory/dealer fit option so covered by the 3-year vehicle warranty (or at least, doesn't invalidate the warranty!). Hope I never need to find out. Price of most electronics/tech stuff at the moment is high, and supply chain is very constrained "because Covid".
  6. I think it was £350 inc. VAT. (2019 Scout)
  7. I had mine fitted by Professional Retrofits near Nuneaton (right next to the MIRA test circuit). Paul did a great job, and there's a nice walk along the canal while you wait, as it takes several hours. Official VAG parts and registered on "the database" apparently.
  8. Is there no way to edit the download so you can just update your home country? That would only take a few minutes to install. I'm pretty sure I won't be taking my car outside the UK for at least another one or two map cycles, so I really don't need the latest maps of everywhere else in Europe.
  9. Same here - late 2019 UK TDi 190, 7 seats, factory retractable towbar. Ride is fine.
  10. The Owner's Manual says NTFS is supported for USB media
  11. This is what my 32GB card looks like after unzipping:
  12. A minor point but unlike the 2020/2021 update, this one won't quite fit on a freshly-formatted 32GB NTFS card (so don't waste 20 minutes or so unzipping it until it fails at 99%). No problem unzipping / installing when reformatted FAT32. (I'm not sure why some Youtube videos recommend NTFS, though that worked last time for me).
  13. I bought Ebay item #303564562916 (£18.99). It's flexible plastic rather than rubber but seems fine. Fits perfectly and, as the listing says, no odour like some I've had in the past. Doesn't go up the sides as you mentioned though.
  14. Noob here, but anyone find it odd that the way the Columbus SatNav lady says road numbers? I'd pronounce the A123 as "A one two three" and the B1234 as "B one two three four", but she says "A one hundred and twenty three", or "B one thousand two hundred and thirty four". (Also she pronounces Shrewsbury the wrong way, as did I until I moved to Shropshire).
  15. I had two X-Trails previously. Like the Kodiaq, power normally goes to the front wheels but it can send power the rear wheels if it detects the fronts are slipping. Nissan use an electromechanical clutch rather than the hydraulic Haldex. I'll find out which is better in a couple of weeks!
  16. I'm very new to the Kodiaq but on my previous 4wd cars there was a limit of 2-3mm difference in tread between front and rear. Any more than that could (allegedly) cause excessive wear to the front/rear differential and confuse the power split of the 4wd system. Does that apply to Skoda's Haldex-based 4wd?
  17. Yes both sockets need fuses. The supplied one is for the dashcam, and you put the one you remove from the fusebox #34 in the empty piggyback slot to power the original circuit.
  18. My Dec'19 Scout doesn't have the auto door protectors. Dealer said they are now part of the "Family Pack" option. Though reading the forums maybe that's a good thing. It does have a spare wheel rather than a can of foam, which surprised me for an ex-demonstrator.
  19. All fuses work either way round. I used fuse #34 as recommended - just pulled it, inserted into the spare socket on the piggyback, then pushed that in the now empty socket. I think the supplied fuse with my kit was 2A. Hope you remembered to connect the earth to the Torx bolt too! The camera will charge only when ignition is on, whatever that means these days with keyless start. I also have a 522GW and that doesn't mind its internal battery going flat. (Well, down to the point the protection circuitry kicks in). Why not try charging it anyway with a mini-USB lead and mains USB charger? Do you have the official Nextbase v2 hardwire kit? When I upgraded to the 522GW on my previous car with a generic cheapo Ebay kit, the dashcam continually rebooted itself using so I got the recommended Nextbase one.
  20. Many thanks. You're so right in that the hardest bit was getting the glovebox down. I found I could do one side (using two hands) to just past the "point of no return", then the other side. I tried first doing both sides at once but failed. I have a Nextbase Hardwire Kit V2 for my 522GW and the business end of that is small enough to feed through so you can start from the top.
  21. https://www.skoda.co.uk/car-finance/new-car-deals "To lend a hand, we’ll cover your first 3 months payments and we'll pay your deposit contribution between £2,250 - £4,250". (My bold) When I was considering new that's how the salesman explained it, but I went for an ex-demonstrator which didn't qualify so paid cash, and didn't go into the PCP deal in detail.
  22. I thought the current deal was that Skoda make the first three monthly PCP payments, so you'd lose that if you paid in full after 14 days.
  23. Picked up my ex-demonstrator (Dec '99 5000-mile) Scout TDi 190 DSG from the dealership yesterday. A highly technical question - should it come with two umbrellas? I only have one.
  24. Just home with my almost new (ex-demonstrator) Kodiaq Scout. My previous two cars were both Nissan X-Trails but I never even considered another one; the Kodiaq is superior to the current model in every respect, and for a similar price. Wish it would stop raining - I want to go play with it, and I don't mean the free umbrella!
