  1. Thank you for that information I will check it out, fortunately the garage I'm using now to service my Yeti is an independent owned by my son in laws uncle.
  2. @Westbury63, Thank you for that I have added a bookmark to my computer.
  3. Thank you both for your replies.
  4. First off I have had the car new direct from the factory, delivered June 2016. I have just had my Yeti battery tested during the cars 5th year service, the battery records 75% charge. The garage has suggested it is replaced at the end of the summer? I believe the recommendation is to change the battery at the 5 year point, in my case June 2021 (this year). I understand the stop start function when fitting a new battery has to be considered? Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement battery, I would prefer a quality battery and not something as "cheap as chips" as the Yeti is going to be with me for some years yet. I will also be changing the timing belt and water pump at the same time, I expect to have the work completed in May this year. Thanks in anticipation.
  5. The Edge that I am looking at on the Opie website is clearly marked LL and VW504. I understand what you're saying about 'oils', in a past last I worked with fuels and lubricants in the RAF.
  6. Hi Weasley Fully understand that information, thanks. I also read reference to Opie Oils on here, it also recommends Castrol Edge 5W-30LL as it's approved by Skoda. I will almost certainly purchase the oil from Opie. I have picked up some really useful information so far on here and I thank everyone who has responded to my question. I plan to keep my Yeti for some time, so far it has been faultless with no major issues. I did have one broken rear spring but that was a warranty job, drivers door mirror glass un-bonded but was re-affixed under warranty and that is pretty much all that has "gone wrong" since I collected the car new from the factory at the end of June 2016. I have had some issues with the dealer and Skoda UK and and am not impressed with Skoda HQ here in the UK, but that issue got sorted eventually to my satisfaction. Overall I rate the Yeti highly, and that's coming from an Audi A4 2.0 FSi to Skoda. Huge price difference as well, but I still get to my destinations okay, so no complaints from me about the Yeti.
  7. Prezafab, your comment about the 2 year work and parts cover is interesting, something to ask Days about! As for things going wrong, my son in laws family have many years experience in the motor trade, specialising in the first instance in Alfa's and Fiat's etc, hopefully they have the knowledge not to screw things up. These days cars in general are no longer so different, with most manufacturers using a multitude of parts suppliers from around the globe.
  8. Hi Weasley, thanks for your suggestion, I had considered Castrol Edge................
  9. Hi Prezafab I am aware of Unit 18, however I intend to use Days Mk on Blakelands, mainly due to a family connection via my son-in-law. His uncle is the owner of Days. I see that Bedford Skoda is now owned by Marshalls who now own Skoda MK, they seem to be buying up franchises and this of course limits customer choice.
  10. Thanks for that info I will take a look at obtaining that oil, unless someone else has another suggestion. My cam belt and water pump will be due changing in June 2021, I will discuss that with the garage at my next service. Thanks again
  11. Hi, I run a 2016 Tis 1.2 (delivered ex factory end June 2016), I am planning to start using an independant garage for my future servicing needs, the car has now run just over 41000 trouble free miles. I am able to take my own oil to the garage and wondered if anyone has any advice on brands etc, Mobil1 springing to mind (perhaps not the right oil though) also at some point I'll need a cam belt/water pump replacement doing. Does anyone have any advice as too when this should be carried out, I think I have a belt fitted, not a chain, and I'm unsure if the change is miles run or age? I vaguely remember 5 years being quoted, then I think 60,000 miles? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  12. Hi, I have been slow to register here, but the time is right as I should have done this far sooner. I have a factory delivered (June 2016) Yeti Tsi in Moon White Metallic. We have enjoyed just over 40,000 miles together and I'm planning to keep her for a wee bit longer yet as she has been 100% reliable todate (fingers crossed for the future). My mileage like many has reduced considerably over recent months due in part to Covid 19 and the fact that my other half is now working from home, I am retired and the car clearly has not been as busy as it normally is. Hopefully my stay within these forums will be long and rewarding.
