Kamiq Is It For You
Thanks for all the suggestions some of them are above my head however in respect of tyres my car is new and treads are fine, also this happens on perfectly dry roads. To add to my tail of woes I went on a 50 mile round trip this morning and towards the end of the journey there was a loud metallic rubbing noise from the front of the car and a lack of power. I stopped the car and switched off the engine . On inspecting the front of the car I couldn't find a anything obvious however there was still a quieter noise from underneath the front end . on returning to the car and driving away the noise had gone and everything was fine. I've seen on a forum (can't remember where) that this is a DSG problem when a gear occasionally can't be selected. I know this sounds as though I'm looking for problems but it's not the case. I've had approaching twenty new cars over the years and had no problems at all with any of them.

Kamiq Is It For You
I'm in a quandry as to what to do....either stick with it and hope I get used to it and it becomes more driver friendly or get rid at at a severe loss and try something different. My son bought similar spec new Kodiaq at the same time and doesn't seem to have the problems I have.......maybe the moral of the story is newer technology isn't always better. I know I'm on a Kamiq owners forum but I'm still surprised at the positive reviews.

Kamiq Is It For You
Yep fair point . I'm coming from a fairly large car in the top of the range CR V and iKaroq t's not a fair comparison however I don't expect wheel spin when picking away at low revs and lack of usability in the instruments in a new model.

Kamiq Is It For You
Having lived with my Kamiq for six weeks I've decided to share my experiences for those who visit the site when deciding if this is the car for them to buy. I have had my car for about six weeks having previously had three Honda CRVs and a Karoq some of which had auto gear boxes. I decided to go for the Kamiq as I didn't require as much space, wanted a reliable auto box and for financial reasons as I am doing far fewer miles. The positives of the car are as follows:- The car looks good , seems to have good build quality and has a well laid it out interior with adequate space for a couple or small family. The steering is light and responsive. Unfortunately I've found several negatives which at this table makes me feel as though I've bought the wrong car:- The infotainment and cockpit controls are complicated e.g. The air con has buttons on the dash and on the main screen instead of just one area. The lane assist jerks the wheel back and is very irritating. It requires to be turned off on every journey. The front assist was set to medium yet the brakes slammed on when a car emerged at least forty yards in front of me when I was doing less than 30mph. Extremely dangerous and I've now set it to LATE. Finally the auto box and 1.5 engine are a disappointment. Firstly the DSG seems to search for a gear on occasions for no reason. Also if you are looking to nip away from a standing start a little quicker than normal it seems to wheel spin despite light even pressure on the accelerator. I'm an advanced driver from my occupation and do not drive hard or fast so this is perplexing having previously driven several auto cars with no problem. One last moan is that the car sits quite low, not a problem in itself but I find rear visibility really poor compared to my previous SUVs. im coming to the conclusion that I've bought the wrong car and hope that my experience assists any prospective buyers.

New Kamiq
I bought the same car as yourself in September 1.5 SEL DSG race blue. My car had just been built and was awaiting shipping which suited me as It cut out the build time. I notice that yours has different alloys which look good. As for the connectivity and virtual cockpit, I've not really got a clue and just Drive it. I'm waiting for my son to come over and have a look at the settings. As discussed in another thread I had a scare when the front assist emergency braking kicked in despite the car in front of me being at least 40 yards away. I've since went into settings and set this feature at LATE ( there are three settings early, medium and late). Hopefully this remedies thie problem. Hope you enjoy the car.

Lane assist is dangerous
Yeah it's a good point...maybe didn't express myself well. I agree that safety features are a great innovation and outweigh any minor irritation however my situation with the front radar assist should never occur and suggests the system isn't set correctly

Lane assist is dangerous
I have only done about 500 miles in my new Kamiq and although in general I like the car I find the supposed safety systems range from annoying to downright dangerous. I consider the lane assist an irritant and switch it off on every journey however this morning I experienced a scary and dangerous incident involving the collision avoidance/ frontal assist. Iwas travelling in a30 mph zone in our small town and the road was reasonably quiet when I saw a car approximately sixty yards in front of me onto our road. No problem the driver had plenty of time to make the manoeuvre and I was doing less than 30. However almost instantaneously a car drew up to a give way from a side road immediately to my near side and stopped in accordance with the give way markings. The emergency braking system in my car activated and more or less brought my car to an emergency stop. If anyone was on my tail it would almost certainly have resulted in a collision. I was so surprised at what had occurred it took me a while to fathom that it must have activated due to to the car pulling up to to the give way junction on my near side. I would stress that the other driver complied with the give way, came to a halt and did nothing wrong. Anyway I'm losing a bit of confidence in the car due to the supposed safety systems

Becoming a new owner of the Kamiq
I got my Kamiq 1.5 SEL DSG about a month ago trading in my Karoq. I was a bit worried about the lower driving position however it's fine and the steering is a bit lighter which suits me. Rear legroom is ok and boot space just about adequate. Auto gearbox also very good. The only slight niggles I have are regarding the updated dashboard and controls from the Karoq which I've not really come to terms with (I'm a technophobe) especially the fan for the climate control which is adjustable on the navigation screen and I don't find it user friendly.

Accessories for Kamiq
Incidentally fergiet the car I'm waiting on is also a 1.5 DSG in race blue. I ordered it through the dealer after/as it was built and therefore didn't have much choice of colour or spec. I'm interested to hear how u like the race blue in the flesh and what u think of the 1.5 engine (I'm changing from a 1.0 TSi manual Karoq)

Accessories for Kamiq
Thanks for the reply I noticed somewhere else mats are standard, however that didn't stop salesman emailing me asking if I wanted protection pack for £200. I think it's another case of a salesman not being fully conversant with his product.

Accessories for Kamiq
Hi, I'm new to the site so hope I've posted this in the correct place. I am awaiting delivery of a new Kamiq 1.5 DSG SEL and have been contacted by the salesman to ask wether I wish the protection pack containingfloor mats and mud flaps at an additional cost of £200. From what I can see these additions only cost £125 when ordered separately however I think he may have neglected to mention that door edge protectors are included. Can anyone tell me if the door edge protectors are standard on the sel model and advise wether or not they think the protection pack is worth buying....thanks
