  1. Ok so essentially, even if I could source a used MIB2 unit, I'm still going to be up for replacing the amp with one thats MIB2 compatible to get the system up and running? If so then yep it looks like this is going to end up being quite expensive! I'm not that concerned with Android Auto for this car. It's never had it so I was hoping that replacing the unit with an MIB2 unit would just give me all of the functions the car already had prior to it failing. If somehow it got Android Auto without making any other system changes (apart from a new USB connector) then that would be a bonus. I've been struggling to find any MIB1 units around, they've mainly only been MIB2 or 2.5. I'll keep looking but I haven't got much hope. The alternative would be to go down the aftermarket route I suppose. Thanks for your response, much appreciated!
  2. Hi, My wife's 2013 Octavia Elegance has an issue with the infotainment system where it powers on but goes into a boot loop: shows the usual ‘Welcome to Skoda’ screen then gets stuck on the Menu for a few mins before restarting again. The screen won’t respond to any touches at all and I’ve tried the soft reset method several times with no luck. Took it to the local Skoda dealership here in Australia who advised that the glovebox unit was faulty and quoted us over 8,000 AUD for a replacement! So I've started looking at some used examples on Ebay and from local salvage yards. The unit we currently have is an MIB1 with the part number 5E0 035 045 A. The screen is the 8inch version (pictured below) but I'm not sure of the exact part number and unfortunately unable to retrieve it given the system isn't working. It also has navigation and is Canton. Just wondering how interchangeable other units are with the screen we currently have? Unfortunately I've been unable to find a direct replacement on Ebay and I would really prefer to only have to replace the glovebox unit and not the screen if possible. Am I able to simply replace the existing unit with any MIB2 unit such as 3V0 035 045 B without needing to replace any other component such as the amp or screen? I understand any replacement unit will require content protection to be removed but the service dept at the dealership have said that they are happy to remove this for me and code it to the car. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
