1. Ask on tdiclub.com forums about the regeneration frequency of your 1.6 CR engine, do mention your engine code, thats why I put mine in my post (I know its different from yours).
2. This is great, thank you.
3. I have the older, 2009 BLS engine, mostly drive 20km round trips per day (part town), no issues for last 70k kms (I know this because belt time is coming up). This is for those who tend to yell - you should drive it more! It regenerates like a clock and yes, I have checked its there. 12 -14k per year is my mileage. 351k on the odo, bought it with 283k. My experience is, if you have problems with the DPF, there is something wrong with your engine, fix the engine first.
4. I've sent a message to Eddie regarding an upgrade to a Maxidot on October 17, 2023 and he has not read it yet...that brings it to almost a year not loging in so far as I'm concerned.
5. Yesterday (first -4 C of this winter) drivers door started not to open. Was picking up daughter from kindergarten, the temp was in the positives, so its not like something broke because of the cold. I can hear the central lock mechanism inside the door working while using the fob, also the mechanism unlocks when I pull the handle from inside if the inside door lock button (near gear shift) is used. Also inner handle is a tad loose at the end of travel, but that might just be due to wear and tear. Tried the banging on lock method while using the fob, no bueno. Anyone had a situation like this? Thanks for your input.
6. Check out reviews on Youtube. LED technology has moved on quite a bit, theres quality items available from alot of bigger manufacturers - Osram, Philips, etc. Tried to get some from a Ukraininas manufacturer Carlamp, but they dont ship abroad. Afaik they get parts from Philips, so theres that.
7. A little research shows thats actually the case - CV joints are the same, thank you for clearing this up.
8. The Scout has 41mm higher clearance than the regular Roomster. That would mean the regular joint operates at a slightly different angle than nominal when installed in a Scout. Could be the reason both of them have failed and would explain the weird clunk as at excessive wheel travel the joint has deal with a bigger angle, lets say, than it is meant to. But then again, its just a theory of mine.
9. Philips and a Ukrainian firm manufacture high quality LEDs that have correct placement and work really good (better than HIDs). Philips is helluwa expensive, somwhere in the region of 200 Eur, the Ukr ones are about 60 ish. I suspect that the problem with projector headlights like my Scout has is similar to what i've seen with BMW projector headlights - hot bulb in a small confined space heats the tiny mirror up and it fogs up / starts to burn out: thread: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?7459-E90-ZKW-projector-bowl-retrofit-My-progression But then again, its just a theory, I haven't taken my headlights apart yet. But, having just switched to my Scout from a Golf MkII, and that had noticeably more light spite being a 1989 car with 30 year old headlights...
10. Hi there, just registered. Both my outer CV joints are due for a replacement, with drivers side being the first. In the parts catalog i order parts from I see that there's a CV joint for the Scout particularly and then there are some for the regular Roomster. Its also twice as expensive as the regular one. Can anyone confirm that the Scout has a different CV joint due to being higher that a regular Roomster? I suspect mine has been fitted with regular ones as I randomly get a weird clunk in the front suspension while low speed cornering, when the wheel has up and down movement. Suspension parts are nice and tight afaik.
