  1. In case google leads anyone else here softscoop was spot on, I wrote down all the modules in the old gateway then put the new gateway in and put all the modules onto it. The long code is different but it works perfectly. Thank you! Words for google: obdeleven can gateway long code extra byte program gateway
  2. Thank you, I'll give that a shot. Does anyone else find this kind of small fettling with cars satisfying? I've made no real progress in getting it sorted but had loads of fun just poking around removing bits of trim and fiddling with stuff!
  3. So. A problem. After playing find the canbus gateway last night (it wasnt behind the glovebox or the steering column, I had to take the wipers off and go in past the scuttle panel) I got the new can gateway fitted but I cannot figure out how to code it with obdeleven. My old gateway was 1K0907530k so I bought an 1K0907530l off ebay. I thought it would just be a case of copying the long coding string over (bd3f034007002303) and that would be it. The problem I have is that the new gateway needs an extra two bytes so the long code doesnt work. Whats best to do here? Open the gateway and tick the options for the installed modules to make the new long coding? I had a shot at it bit I couldnt seem to find them all and it didnt quite work... whats the obvious step I am missing? Please help!
  4. I'm probably not the best person to give a detailed review of audio quality talking about depth of sound and clear crisp highs etc. I don't know what any of that means, I'm a visual person not an audio person... For what its worth it sounds to me the same as the swing that's coming out. I listen to planet rock / classic fm or radio 4 depending on my mood. They all sound just as good. I can sing along loudly to some Maiden, enjoy some classic fm and make out every one speaking clearly on radio 4. However if your one of these people that can tell the difference between mp3 and flac files don't rely on my opinion at all! You hear detail in things I don't!
  5. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone here again! Ive bought a rcd360 pro off facebook marketplace local and it does exactly what I wanted. Ive got a copy of obdeleven pro and found my can gateway is 1K0907530K so I have bought a 1K0907530L off ebay and will code it when it comes. All following the advice from on here. Thanks!
  6. Ive never done a sump on one of these but having done them before on other cars it may look like theres no oil in it but there will be enough to make a mess if your not ready. Dont forget to have rags handy... Also my old corsa was very sensitive to getting the right tourqe on the bolts. To little and it oooozed, to much and the gasket crushed and it ooozed. Good luck!
  7. Thanks Sasha. Did you need to code the rcd360? Did it fit in the stock trim? I love that it looks oem. I had a read of all the work you've done on your dads car, it looks great!
  8. Actually just seem the columbus doesnt do android auto which is what I am after... nevermind. Googling for info on these seems to be a minefield! I dont suppose there is a simple guide of what does what and fits where any where is there?
  9. Hello, Ive just bought a 2007 octavia estate that has a Stream mp3 head unit. Its a bit dated and I'd like to fit something newer. Ive searched the forum and know I need a canbus adapter and would like to fit a columbus head unit. What I cant figure out from searching is if I need a new fascia or need to code the new radio with rcds? Its a basic pre facelift 4x4 Ive bought without steering wheel controls and the basic dash display if that helps. Thanks!
