Just taken delivery of my new Octavia and very happy so far. Good build quality. I’d really appreciate some Columbus Infotainment system wisdom from the experienced owners out there.
1. Connectivity - Skoda seem to provide 1st year connectivity through the embedded e-SiM which covers all the Skoda Connect services including internet radio streaming, map and other updates BUT not hotspot service. Do Skoda limit internet use? And a hotspot service is separately purchased from Cubic Telecom. Is that correct? Not convinced of the point of the hotspot service - everybody has 4G service with their mobiles. The hotspot converts 4G to WiFi - is it not just a waste of money? Or am I missing something?
2. Navigation - setting a destination. How do I add a UK postcode and house number? And can I just search for like B&Q or Tesco? How do I access the POIs? I guess I’ll get used to it but not a patch on Garmin software!
3. Infotainment Apps. I read in reviews that there would be embedded Apps for e.g. Local Weather, News, Spotify. I have nothing. And nothing available to download from the ‘Shop’. Any clues or was I fooled by marketing? I’m sure too I read that additional car software based features such as fog lights as turn lights, traffic sign recognition etc. Could be purchased and turned on - no options?
4. service records. No service book with the car. So assume services are held electronically? Where? And how will I be able to access my service records?
sorry for the long questions. Thank you in advance for your feedback. Hopefully your answers will be useful to others
thanks. Graham
