Park Distance Control very intermittent
This sounds similar to a problem I had while on holiday in France last year under the previous (1900 I think) software, where the infotainment got into a constant reboot loop every 3 mins or so and after repeating this about 10 times just shut down completely with all the warning lights on you mention, no sensors, no reversing camera, SOS error etc. Leaving the car locked for a hour or so caused it to reset and start the cycle again. It didn't affect how the car drove physically but made me realise how interconnected the infotainment screen is with parking sensors etc. After spending a lot of my holiday on this site/Google I managed to trace it to it trying to auto-download DAB radio station logos (presumably for the 'wrong' region in my case) and turning off that setting in the Radio app settings stopped the reboot cycle. Not sure if this problem still affects the 1941 version though as I've had the setting turned off ever since.

It will be very interesting to see if the 1969 update makes any difference to this issue as my current guess is still that it's something to do with insufficient time being allowed by the software for the relevant modules to start up properly before checking the parking sensors.

I still get this regularly on cold starts if I don't do the workaround of switching on ignition for a few seconds before starting the engine. I've had it in two different dealers for it and both times they 'reinitalised settings' or similar (with general lack of interest in resolving the issue). This seemed to make it go away for a few days only for it to return. Still fairly convinced it's related to the 1941 infotainment software as I never got this particular glitch before that got installed around last November. It seems this mainly affects earlier cars from 2020-21 so something to do with older hardware perhaps?

I just rechecked a video I took of the dashboard showing the errors on start up. Confirming that I do get the Manoeuvre Braking Currently Unavailable error, plus also Rear Traffic Assist and Park Distance Control Not Available errors (with about 5-6 warning bongs). Reversing camera still works. I think that all of these functions are probably dependent on the parking sensor module and when that module fails a start-up check it triggers all three error messages. Restarting the engine immediately clears all these errors. If I switch on the ignition (i.e. press the engine start button without pressing clutch pedal), wait 2-3 seconds to let the dashboard screen fully start up, then start the engine then I don't get any of these errors as ALBACORE mentioned above. This is a good workaround, although still an issue if needing to sell the car. I'm still fairly convinced that this is related to the 1947 infotainment software as this particular problem started shortly after that update was installed, and obviously the infotainment screen needs to connect to the PDC system to show the visual representation of proximity to objects etc.

Same situation here after an overnight visit to the dealership last week. It was OK for a couple of days after they reinstalled/reinitialised some software (not totally clear what they actually did) but the PDC error was back again yesterday. I was wondering as discussed above if it's related to battery voltage on start up as I sometimes don't use the car for a few days and then the error nearly always comes up on cold start. However it also does it when the engine is already warm, and seems to be pattern of every 4-5 engine starts. Also this problem never occurred before the latest big infotainment update late last year. I'll try the tip above with switching the ignition on first, letting screens start up, then starting engine. However I've now decided I don't really want to have the car outside warranty after 3 years of bugs and problems so am probably going to trade in for something else shortly. Hopefully they may fix this one in another OTA update at some point...

Spoke too soon on this sadly - PDC errors back again on starting today after not using the car for a few days.

Just to update on this, a further OTA update that arrived yesterday appears to have fixed the PDC issue on my car tentatively. No further PDC errors after after about 8 engine restarts now. Fingers crossed this continues at least until the next update probably breaks something else!

I've definitely learned my lesson with this over the past three years with the Octavia! Bit of a shame as I still think it's a great looking and very practical car and I had this one as a factory order to my preferred spec. However I also need dependable family transport without having to spend lots of time on troubleshooting/unscheduled workshop visits so not sure I'll be keeping it long term at this point.

I don't have an OBD scanner I'm afraid so there probably isn't a lot I can do about this right now

Thank you for this. I guess I will have to wait for the dealer to try to fix this then.

First post after using the forum as a very useful info source with the many software issues I've had with my Octavia since new in 2021. I've currently got the same issue mentioned here with the parking sensor system failing approx every other engine start (accompanied by a chorus of warning chimes and PDC error messages). This appears to have developed since the car updated itself to 1941 software a few months ago and then applied a more minor update on top of this. The error normally goes away temporarily after restarting the engine but is still very frustrating after I finally thought the car was working properly after 2.5 years and the 1941 update. I have it booked in but first slot isn't until the end of Feb and I'm concerned that getting these software problems resolved is going to get expensive after warranty expires. If anyone has any knowledge of DIY solution to this one I would much appreciate it. Car is on H56 hardware version.

Greetings
Hi all, Just saying hello as I've finally got around to registering on the forum after owning a Skoda for nearly 3 years! Currently have a 2018 Fabia SEL DSG, with an Octavia Hatch SEL now on order to replace this in May. Cheers, Jon
