  1. Spot on. My first Apple was a 2008 MacBook which was supposed to be just for using when I was downstairs to save me struggling up and down the stairs. The Windows desktop was upstairs. At the time I was a very mature student with the Open University but because of health I was struggling. It took me just 3 weeks to be converted to Macs. The accessibilty functions, the ease of use; no constant updates. I was in 7th Heaven. The Windows machine sat there gathering dust. The old saying, 'Once a Mac, you never look back' was certainly true in my case.
  2. Those were the days! My first car was a Hillman Imp. The only issues I had were the so called 'friends' who said they would fix the rust and were quite happy to take plenty of money off me for the repair work; which admittedly they got stuck into with great enthusiasm. The only problem was they didn't have a clue what they were doing, and only thought they did . You can imagine the guy's reaction who did the MOT for it, when he investigated and grabbed the wheel arch to find a old of artex type putty stuff peeling away! No amount of covering up half damp layers with the same colour paint as the rest of the car, could hide it
  3. This is so true! We didn’t go for the 1.5 engine as from what I have read, they still haven’t sorted out the ‘lag׳ and kangarooing problem. At the time we had one, they were adamant there was no problem and it was the way we were driving it! As both myself and hubby have totally different driving styles this was not the case. Both the dealership technicians and the RAC who are partners with Motability said it wasn’t doing it, even though we knew full well it was. We did an early termination in the end as we valued both our safety and that of other road users first. Then when we decided to go for a Suzuki Vitara which was the nearest we could find to a Yeti, we had problems again. This time we had photos. The road speed signs that would come up were way out for what they actually were. I.e., 90 in a 20mph zone, very distracting. They blamed it on the camera misreading and ended up replacing a £3,000 camera for it to be exactly the same! Again they said they couldn’t replicate it. I had taken photos when travelling as a passenger, but they would still not acknowledge there was a fault. As it happened the car was written off after an accident where again the distracting software showed a puncture which was debatable as the pressure indicator went back up to normal. So here we are again. My hubby had now gone through all the hassle of downloading the app and registering etc; along with resetting the kilometre/mph twice. It seems to have settled down but we can’t say for certain yet as only been out in it once since then; time will tell!
  4. The other key has been used though Kenny. I haven’t even driven it yet. He kept changing it back to mph when using his key. Then if for example we stopped off somewhere or park up for the day; the next time he went in and started it, it would default back to kilometres so he then had to change it back again to miles. Even if it was defaulting to my key, as my key is set up for miles it should remain the same.
  5. It seems to have settled yesterday for no apparent reason, but we are still very wary. I have emailed the dealership to get it logged just in case it is a temporary respite. We have still had the voice command come on at random though. It is if it it switching itself on in response to when we are speaking; but only at random. I have also mentioned this in the email. I will update when I get a response from them.
  6. Yes, we are using different keys. But if the default settings are mph, or they have been changed to mph, should't they stay like that whatever key is being used?
  7. I was given this link after posting about our issue as follows: I took delivery of my new Skoda Karoq 1.0 last week, and hubby noticed that after setting everything to Imperial measurements; in particular miles, it has been reverting back to kilometres after the engine has been switched off for a while. I have yet to drive it as still nervous after an accident on Christmas Eve. He said it could be a coincidence, but this seemed to be obvious after I had set up the Skoda Connect with both the app and via the Infotainment screen/settings. He has had to reset it 3 times now and has deleted my profile. The only thing I can think that is causing this, is that for some reason, my profile is set to kilometres; however, neither of us can find anything in my profile settings that show I have to set it to miles/Imperial as well as the general settings. I notice although most of you say the KPH/MPH is on the SatNav, we have this issue on the normal speedometer. Hubby is an experienced driver and it totally threw him when it came up with 46 in a 30 mph zone. It is dangerous. We are going to start from scratch again tomorrow, although even if it is the fact I had put my personalisation in so the Skoda Connect function will work, this still shouldn't be happening. I noticed some of you have said you have had the 'voice' function come on by itself too. We have also had this happen twice. We are on the Motability scheme and have previously had issues with an early termination with the Karoq 1.5 which was another story!
  8. Hi Chris. Because of Covid they did the bare essentials plus valeting etc. It is on the Motability scheme too. You are quite right about the danger side of things as hubby is very experienced at driving and it totally threw him. I did do the personalisation option purely to be able to use the Skoda Connect functions which we have free for a year. Tomorrow we are going to see if my personalisation is still there; as far as I know hubby deleted it. If it is I will delete it anyway and start from scratch. Then if it runs okay in mph, I will set it up again for Skoda Connect and observe very carefully what I am doing. Should it still do the same as before then definitely it will be going back. Sort of takes away all the pleasure doesn't it? We had the Karoq 1.5 a couple of years ago and had the gear lag problem. Both the RAC and the dealership said there was no indication of that problem, yet as soon as we got it back it would do it again; very dangerous at roundabouts when putting your foot down and nothing happens for a few seconds. By that time someone coming from the right could have gone straight into the car expecting us to be going at a typical speed for the circumstances. It went back as an early termination. When replacing the Karoq we went for a Suzuki Vitara and would you believe it was deja vu but this time with the electronics. 90 in a 20 zone and all kinds of weird and not so wonderful road speeds to distract. They supposedly put another camera in as they said it was linked to the software for reading road signs but it still did it. Unfortunately we had an accident in it just before Christmas, so we thought we were doing the right thing going back to a Skoda, and avoiding the 1.5 engine. Maybe not so! I will update as and when. Thanks for your help.
  9. You must have been on the scheme a while then :-). I have now posted in the Karoq forum if you want to have a look.
  10. Hi all. Has anyone come across this before or have any help to offer? We have had Skodas before and are familiar with them. Many thanks.
  11. I will yes. Just been having tea along with my favourite medication. Have got an issue after picking up new Motability Karoq so I will post later.
