Dash cams - which is best?
VeedubyaGTi replied to cherry evo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Seen this recommended on the Briskoda FB page the other day, looks a steal for this price! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281903204584?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT -
Personally, I would`nt bother with a decat. I`ve gone for a bigger downpipe and sports cat on mine(ebay special) as I really could`nt be bothered with the hastle at MOT time. You are spot on, the best gains are with a bigger downpipe, as this is what`s most restricting on a Mk1 vrs
-
I`ve got a downpipe and sports cat as I can`t be bothered with the bother come MOT time. It`s the downpipe that`s more restrictive on the vrs anyway, not so much the cat. Car feels a lot more responsive, sounds great, and spins up the turbo faster

I`ve heard that if you put a small blob of silicone sealant at the base of the window in the channel either side it stops it? Can`t vouch for this, as I`ve not tried it yet though.

Check the above, and if you have a sunroof, check the drains in the A-pillars and behind the rear wheels.
-
I`m getting mine done in a few days, including water pump, alternator belt, and brake fluid change for £380 at a garage near me. Did`nt think that was too bad.
-
Yet another vote for the drain tubes, mine were blocked earlier this year, caused quite a considerable leak in the drivers and rear passenger footwells. The front ones are In the A-pillars about halfway up, I pinched them and managed to poke a small screwdriver in there, problem solved. AFAIK the rear ones come out behind the rear wheels.

Run amplifier powercable engine to boot
VeedubyaGTi replied to Merkel's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Surely this is a joke? Crazy idea, don`t think cables like that are designed to be run UNDER a car!!I Would never do such a thing. -

As Paul said, remove the glovebox, and it`s about level with the top of where the glovebox would of been. I`ve recently done this myself. Don`t forget to run your power cables one side, phono in the middle, and speaker cables on the other side for less interferance. -
Welcome back, best colour too. #Teamblack

Mines a Mk1 Octavia vrs, and can vouch for Pagid, not heard of Meyle stuff sorry. I`ve got Pagid discs and pads on the front of mine for the last 2 years, and they`re superb, and barely look worn! so much so, I`ve now got a set for the back to install very soon

Anybody Used Slick 50 engine treatment?
VeedubyaGTi replied to johnrowley's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Years ago in an old 100k Renault 18 with a big end knock. Added a few cans of this before trade-in, quietened it down no end -
Does anyone on here have the X-plate VRS

Speakers replacement - need help
VeedubyaGTi replied to Apo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I`m replacing all of mine, and adding a cheeky little amp and a Mazda bass enclosure while I`m at it very soon. The speakers I have bought for the front of mine are Infinity Reference 6530cs component`s that have a mounting depth of just 60mm http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/infinity-reference-6530cs Hope this helps -
I recently had the same issue with my drivers door after the daughters friend hit it GRrrr. She admitted it, and offered to pay for the damage, so I decided to get a few quotes, one bodyshop, and one mobile dent guy, both said because the door had gone in and hit the impact beam inside, it would need a ton of filler on it. The bodyshop said they would be better getting a second hand black magic door, so I thought I could do that myself, which I did, I won`t lie, it was a long job, but the paint matches very well indeed because they`ve both faded of course. After I polished up the door(by hand) you honestly would`nt tell.

Piper non-resonated all the way for me, just had an ebay bigger downpipe and sports cat fitted too. Nice burble(not too loud) on tickover, sounds fantastic on song
-
Yes they will fit, I`ve heard of Dare, they seem an ok brand AFAIK? I would ask about the weight as mentioned. I`d also be wanting 19" on a Mk2 Octavia though personally.
-
Mine has broken in the up position too, utterly useless. Mine is covered to some degree by the armrest, however I now keep it stocked up with those cup sized packs of chewing gum, sorted lol

Looks great, and the best colour, although I`m a tad biased lol I`m with you on the badges, the new style ones will look so much better -
Hammerite FTW! I`ve been using it for years, not an issue.
