  1. Not having a huge amount of cash to splash on Thule bars, I took a punt on some Cruz Airo T aerodynamic aluminium roof bars in a smart black. I've used Cruz kit before and found it perfectly solid, if a little basic. I have a Spaceback with a panoramic roof, and the Cruz bars fit this perfectly - the mounting brackets don't touch the glass panel at all. Fitting was simple. Most of the mounting bracket is pre-mounted to the bar, with the car-specific 'fitting kit' being a shaped bracket that fits into the holes in the door aperture and curves around the car, bolting to the bars using 10mm bolts. This has rubber gaskets to prevent damage. Adjustment is via a 10mm bolt in the roof bar. A bit of measuring makes it easy to fit the bars to the car solidly and centred on the roof. You can undo one of the fitting brackets to lift the bar off the roof without having to readjust everything. The optional lock kit locks the plastic covers over the bracket bolts and provides some security. I'm happy with these bars. Now to get some cycle racks. I need four...
  2. The cover on my Spaceback is held on by two plastic rivets and two metal clips. The clips are at a funny angle, which made replacement fiddly. Have you tried using a trim removal tool?
  3. Rick-rolling is still a thing. In fact, the man himself was rick-rolled on Reddit not too long ago.
  4. It's possibly a Takt time issue. At Toyota (I'd imagine it's not too different for Skoda), the Takt time is time it takes for a car to move from one station on the production line to the next. The time it takes for parts to be fitted is timed to the tenth of a second, and each station is tasked to fit parts so the average time taken is close to the Takt time for maximum efficiency. I say average because it may be that the only way to fit certain parts (say the Canton radio) is for it to take slightly longer than the Takt time. Obviously in this case, they can't send too many cars with Canton radios down the line in a row as the assembly worker will get further and further behind, causing quality issues and/or line stoppages. So they'll sequence, say three Amundsens and one Canton. Frustrating for those that want all the toys, but rejigging a production line is time consuming and expensive, and I imagine a complete no-go in this troubled times.
  5. It might not work. A USB SSD generally appears on a computer as a hard drive, but a USB memory stick generally appears as a removable drive. Many head units will only work with removable drives.
  6. Well, that deal fell through. There was a quibble with the admin fee, so I had to sign the finance paperwork twice. Then when the paperwork finally went through and it was time to arrange pickup, the dealer told us the car had been reserved! Bah! So I've found a 66-plate 1.2TSI SE Sport in race blue and placed a deposit this time. More expensive tyres, but cheaper tax and a panoramic roof! All things happen for a reason...
  7. How do, I'm Mark from Derby. I work in document automation for a company that you won't of heard of, but I guarantee you have something from one of our customers in your house, or even your body. By night I enjoy starting things I rarely finish, be that in electronics, programming or reading a book. I'll hopefully be taking delivery within the week of a blue Rapid Spaceback 1.0TSI 110 SE Tech. Looking forward to it as it'll be the newest and best car I've ever had. Cheers, Mark
