Buying Guide for 2.0 TDi Superb?
i have only test driven one sel executive and the rear brake discs were shot to bits, i believe its a common fault with the the superb, it had only done 36k as well so dont foreget to shine a torch on those discs, and for suspension noises the only way is to have a proper test drive , and that jerkiness you mention is only the dsg, the manual gearbox is smooth as silk , anythink with 50k on the clock will have to have a proper dealer history with a dsg service if its an auto, i am still looking for one myself its not easy there always miles away from me, and with dealers being closed its frustrating.

"gearbox error ok to drive"
Update on the gearbox issue, I had a call of bob gerard leicester today, skoda northampton rang them and said the low oil in the gearbox came out the factory like that, and even tho its out of warranty they will foot the bill, which is a new gearbox called a MECHATRONIC, that's what they called it, so i defo dodged a 30 caliber size bullet. Someone will be buying that in a month or two i just hope the young lads fitting a new gearbox no what there doing, is this a common problem i wonder?

"gearbox error ok to drive"
so the garage was right about the rear discs? as for the mystery surrounding the gearbox oil, who knows whats happened, bob gerard garage told me they will let me know if they get to the bottom of it, so the lesson i have learned from this is dont be buying a car without a propper test drive, but even then you can still end up with a lemon.

"gearbox error ok to drive"
the car had a dsg 7 speed box, bob gerard garage are going to ring mobility next week to find out why they didnt send it to skoda for the work, but its probably because of costs? the car also had a replacement agm battery changed by the RAC, and it had rear discs and pads changed at the last mot, bob gerard told me they have changed a lot of rear discs on these cars interesting, i will look out for this in the future , but in the mean time i have to try and get my £150 road tax back of dvla, and i am still waiting for my insurance refund , its just one big balls up of a year and this caps it all off.

"gearbox error ok to drive"
penpusher ....i rang skoda northampton today and they told me that the mechanic drove it and the warning codes came up so he took it back checked t it out and it was low oil in the gearbox amongst other things, it was a mobility car before hand and they sent it to a back street garage to do an oil service on the gearbox and they never put enough oil in, so soon as i heard this from skoda i then rang the garage i was buying it off and i told them i am backing out the deal and i want a full refund £15,500 they were ok about it but they paid the money back in my account straight away, and i got a full refund of sheilas wheels because i was insured for under 14 days ....so apart from the train to leicester which cost £28 i am quite happy i think i dodged a bullet, and i went with my instinct and walked away, looking back i dont think it was the smoothest of drives there was quite a bit of road noise and i think it was a bit of a harsh ride, i test drove a corolla sports touring a few months ago and the ride was like a rolls royce the suspension was brilliant but the car was to small inside, so the hunt goes on for my retirement car.

update skoda northampton told me the tech couldn't replicate the fault so if they get a chance someone will drive it tomorrow and see if the error message comes back on......not happy!

"gearbox error ok to drive"
hi everyone, hope someone can give me advice, i am buying a superb 67 plate 150 ps se L executive estate, on the test drive it was perfect its done 36k miles so i didn't expect anything less, now the stressful part i was driving home and a warning light came on with the above message which went off and left a yellow warning triangle i took it back and the guys felt as bad as i did, they couldn"t have been any more helpful there mechanic connected a diagnostic pad to the obd, and a few different faults came up one mentioned a air intake voltage problem or something similar, they give me a small car to drive home while its booked into skoda marshall in northampton this morning, part of me wants to walk away from it and its the one in 1000 what will have problem after problem, should i be worried or not?
