fast charging options
In fairness I was looking for a bit of genuine advice from anyone who may have done this but never mind. I'm obviously aware it's an aftermarket part, but like I mentioned i'd seen one in a mk4 mondeo hard wired, unsure as to whether or not this can be done in a mk1..

fast charging options
Morning guys, I'm just curious as i use the car quite a lot doing deliveries in my spare time, I find sometimes the 12v cigarette lighter can't charge my phone quick enough, I vaguely remember buying a mk4 mondeo once upon a time that had an aftermarket charging port fitted in place oif the factory 12v outlet, which ion turn allowed fast charging, I'm wondering if this is an option for my mk1 octavia. Cheers

Vegetable oil
Hi Guys, so I may or may not have been watching car throttle last night, the one where he buys the high mileage mk1 octavia. He successfully ran the the car on waste veg oil. it got me thinking. I used to many moons ago have an Isuzu Trooper 3.1 which i could run on vegetable oil and wondering if my 2002 1.9Sdi octavia would be capable of the same, obviously i know there is issues with fuel filters clogging quicker and the viscosity of the oil being different to diesel but can it be done? i did run a search in this forum but couldn't see any results. Cheers

Looking for advice
from previous experience driving old 1.9 tdi taxis, used to get this quite a lot, would be fine until you needed to hammer it up a hill or at a junction etc, or even just putting your foot down a bit to overtake on motorway, and every time it was turbo related issues, like previously mentioned. vanes chocking up full of crap, normally always brought up a boost issue code too. car would be ok to drive around the doors not going very quick but would happen as soon as you booted it!

Radio troubles
Just incase anyone else ever has a similar issue, I figured the problem out, checked for power and was getting power at the permanent live, but nothing on the wire for the switched ignition power. then had another look at the fuse box diagram and found fuse number 10 mini 10 amp fuse protected the Ignition, S-contact (For power consumers, e.g. the radio, which can be operated with the ignition switched off as long as the ignition key is not withdrawn) stuff. this fuse was blown swapped it out for a good 10 amp fuse and problem solved.

Drum brake issues
No need to apologise my friend, it was worth a punt for 71 pence each haha, I thought there may be an issue with the backing plate but I managed to source a whole rear disced set up for 60 quid so can't moan haha

Drum brake issues
Perhaps is a bit on the extreme side, but I've never ever got on with drum brakes lol, I know they work and aren't as bad as most people think but I hate working on them, with a passion. Disc conversion it is haha Thank you to everyone that has contributed advice and info 👍

Radio troubles
Hi guys, so in my octy I have a pioneer radio, that was already in the car and working etc. I had a spare Sony explode radio lying around with Bluetooth USB aux all that sort of stuff, it was a working unit 6 years ago and has been lying around ever since, I connected it up but was no power, put it down to the unit being knackered. Went to put the pioneer back in and there's nothing, doesn't seem to be getting any power. I've checked the 15amp radio fuse and it's fine swapped it out for another 15 amp just incase and still nothing. Is there likely to be another hidden fuse anywhere or am I likely to have knackered the once working radio 🙊 Cheers

Drum brake issues
Managed to source some of the little plasticy nylon slide block thingys! ebay was very expensive looking at £20-£30 for a pack, tried coverdale but TPS came out on top 71p each and can collect on my way home from work so can get them fitted today! fingers crossed it solves the problem!

Drum brake issues
Evening everyone, hoping someone can help me out a bit here. I've recently bought a MK1 Octavia 1.9 sdi, and it isn't without it's problems. The first problem I've encountered is a sinking brake pedal, brakes worked well but pedal started to sink, was waiting for some clearer weather to have a look at bleeding the brakes up. before i had a chance to do that i lost my pedal completely, traced this to a piston popping off drivers rear wheel cylinder, so i ordered a new wheel cylinder and set about fitting it, fitted it with no issues bled the system up with an eazibleed all was well until I went to check the pedal and it was firm them sunk to floor rapidly with a pool of brake fluid under the rear brake drum. stripped it down to take a look and found the shoe has slipped off the piston and the piston popped out AGAIN making me wonder if there was even an issue with the wheel cylinder to start with but, cleaned everything up and inspected all the parts and reassembled. upon reassembling I noticed that it seems as if the right hand brake shoe was sitting too close to the backing plate. i could pull the shoe forwards into a better position but it would not stay there, it seems almost as there should be something on the backing plate to stop the shoe hitting it but i'm unsure. has anyone experienced anything similar and may be able to give some advice please?
