Overheat on 2.0 diesel.
Getting a rare intermittent issue with the car where occasionally it will just overheat, and I have to stop for a few minutes until it seems to regain control and pulls the temp back down. Googling seems to indicate some swollen seal on a valve in the water pump (they like to complicate things that should just work). Is this likely, and can I ask what it's likely to cost to replace just so I don't get taken to the cleaners? Cheers.

It was very straight forward, a pair of pliers and something to remove and then store the fluid plus 10 minutes is all you need.

I'm guessing there is something, I'm more just aggravated at how obtuse they have made what is essentially a very basic process. A bit like sticking a silica bag in the coolant header tank, sounds fine on paper (I work in maint eng), but in practice causes additional issues not accounted for that exceed the problems you attempted to compensate for. First maint job completed, I can open the old one up before I dispose of it if people are curious, it appears there is something in there.

So completely unable to get to anything via Erwin related to servicing, I did manage to pull a vehicle data PDF and spotted something in the spec, it appears it doesnt have online records for this, it also has nothing on the My Skoda app. So it looks like the bits of receipts I have is the service history, not impressed to be quite honest. Real leaps forward and progress over how it used to be done.

Yes no options for that. I can get those from the left pane menu but have to pay. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

I must be doing something wrong, everything seems to be asking for a flat rate so I assume it is a paid for service just to see service history.

Forgive me for asking what may be a silly question, is that paid access? Am I able to download copies if I pay for an access slot? Cheers for the part number on the reservoir.

The infotainment system has impressed me tbh, it covers everything I was after really as the BT audio works great for all audio from my phone and the nav system (minus the postcode search) is actually pretty solid. My rack feet have arrived so I have external transport for bikes, the boot cover is ordered, just need to get mats and a replacement coolant bottle (going to try the local dealer first) to put those to bed. Two new issues though, It looks like the grill is already cracked, I think it happened literally on the drive home so rather ****ed at that, and a small rattle has developed, not in time with engine revolutions though so likely a cover or something silly I hope.

Cheers all, picked it up and it hasnt took long to get used to driving, it feels pretty solid, certainly an upgrade over the old focus. The infotainment appears to be the Columbus unit with the big screen? The coolant looks good but looks like the dual chamber, no spare wheel (stupid foam and pump and I have the locking wheel nut in the car. Overall pretty happy so far.

Good tip, I was actually a bit too casual this time checking the bits as I didn't go with the intention of buying it as daft as that sounds. The infotainment can stay as it is then, that seems like far too much when I'll likely change it out for a newer one next year if I like it. Thanks for the replies, all useful.

Cheers for the replies, the sat nav was working whilst I tested it, I didn't actively set any destination but the mapping was working and tracking along so I just assumed all was ok. The coolant looked good and the fella that owned it prior kept all receipts so I can see it has had the cambelt and water pump changed plus pretty consistent servicing. Is there anyway to get the online records at all? Cannot check anything else now as I won't see it again till pickup next Friday.

That would be unfortunate, I would assume the headunit itself would need to be changed if I really wanted that feature then. The deal is already struck on that so I doubt I'll get a key out of them, also not a Skoda dealer specifically. Here is the car and thanks for the reply. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104151387311?fromSavedAds=true&advertising-location=at_cars

Car purchased some quick queries.
Firstly hiya and hello, newb alert. I have just put down a deposit on an Octavia estate to dip my toe, the specific car was not the first choice but if all goes well I might commit next year into something a bit newer. The car has a couple of niggles, the first one being it only comes with one key (buying from a dealer). Are these at all problematic to replace and is there a rough estimate on cost? And secondly the infotainment didn't appear to have mirrorlink (too early for smartlink I think as a 2014 car). This is an annoyance and I wonder is it likely a software update at a dealer or a head unit change if I want to have the facility? (I don't have access to the car again till next week to check model). Otherwise the car is pretty solid and I look forward to seeing if we get along. Cheers.
