  1. That’s the sort of thing I am looking for but with the purpose to cool the cabin and passengers as fast as possible. So set the ducting to the body level fans, set sync to ‘on’ and recirculation on, temp to cold and fan to max. But then when switched out of that mode it reverts back to whatever each side previously was set to and the ducting back to how It was before, recirculation off etc. too. I vaguely recollect having a hire car once that I thought had this feature (possibly in the US) but I can’t remember what it was.
  2. I wish I could reprogram the REST button for this instead of whatever it is supposed to do as I never use that! I will get the switch panel looked at I think next time it goes into the garage. Thanks for the ideas.
  3. The dial doesn’t work reliably on my car. There’s a ‘max’ setting for winter screen cleaning and I simply thought there might be a way to create a min setting for summer.
  4. Is there a way to set the AC to lo quickly that doesn’t involve winding the temp wheel backwards all the way?
  5. The exterior door handle on the passenger side of the car is starting to feel a bit sticky. The car is about 14 months old. Frankly, it doesn’t get used a huge amount, and the drivers door, obviously three times as much as the passengers door. Any ideas how to stop it sticking? It’s a very small amount of sticking right now, just want to do something about it before it gets any worse. Before I shove some WD-40 in there, has anybody had this problem before, or have any thoughts on the best way to deal with it? I could go as far as taking it to the dealer, but it would be a pain having to do the 30 mile round-trip for them to shoot a jet of WD-40 at it, and give me the keys back…
  6. 2k revs sounds really high to me - and must make plenty of noise frankly as 1300 revs is hardly quiet! What does your car need 700rpm more than my car for even on a cold day?! I don’t think I’ve ever owned a car that starts in need of 2000 revs in over 20 years of driving so if mine were behaving like that I would have it checked, especially if it wasn’t doing that before, and it’s a new behaviour. Getting it checked might probably be a bit of a painful process if there is no engine management fault code light on that can easily be reviewed… I imagine there are quite a few things this could be. For example I once had a car where the idle erratically became higher and it was a problem with the sensor in the accelerator pedal. Super quick (and cheap) fix, but the nature of the fault was such that the car thought it was my foot on the pedal so no engine fault code. I had another car where the previous owner had undersized the battery when replacing it - that caused all sorts of weird things to occur…). Not suggesting these are your problems here though). If you do end up taking it to a mechanic, please report back what they say, I’d be very interested.
  7. I own a 12m old 1.5tsi dsg too. 44mpg right now is incredible - that’s what I get in the summer on a good day. re downhill behaviour I don’t expect it to decelerate like a diesel might. Mine does shift to lower gears but doesn’t decelerate dramatically (I see it as a ‘not letting the car run away’ sort of approach they seem to have put in place. I also own a 3cyl small diesel car - the compression on the diesel and just general characteristics make it an entirely different drive. The diesel is manual but unless the gas pedal is pressed 8/10 times you are going to slow down if you drop a gear on a hill. Re distinctly high revs. I just went out to start mine up in the cold. It’s 1°, and the engine hasn’t been run today. Ran at about 1300 revs for 20 seconds, then dropped down to about 1100 before I switched it off. I expect probably another 20 seconds before it dropped back down to the normal idle. Is that what your was doing?
  8. Today my Columbus infotainment system did an update, but the info about what the update did was sparse to non-existent. Anyone know how can I find out exactly what has been fixed? Or what new features are in place?
  9. Just wanted to bump this one, and see if anybody had made progress? Mine is going in next week for someone to take a listen to. The noise hasn’t gotten any worse, but it’s certainly there. Any case of the steering wheel been turned to the left, and accelerating, and you can hear a distinct noise of some sort of friction. and does anybody know what that TPI is above?
  10. I don’t get grinding noise when releasing throttle, it’s very specific to turning left and accelerating. It’s quite subtle - my wife can’t hear it but it’s bugging me as the car is brand new.
  11. Yes I think that’s it. Sounds like you can hear whatever joint is under more pressure during the acceleration manoeuvre. Glad to hear it hasn’t got worse for you. Same engine?
  12. 2022 UK sportline 1.5 petrol dsg. 3k miles. If the steering is pointing left when accelerating there’s a noticeably different noise. Hard to describe but sounds more mechanical (rotational) than I’d expect. Admittedly it’s a tiny noise, wife can’t hear it, but now I can I hear it all the time….! Anybody else noticed the same thing?
  13. If you’ve replaced your bonnet badge with the aftermarket black one I keep seeing talked about, how did you glue it down? I might change mine on my sportline but am a bit concerned about how to remove it (fishing wire?) and how then to clean up what’s left, then most importantly how to stick the new one down. feedback appreciated as always from anyone who has already done it
