  1. Hi, yes they just pull off, I think it was temu I found them on.
  2. Sorry I've no idea, I had to find a DSG specialist as my own mechanic doesn't touch automatics. They've a good reputation so I'm hoping the work to be of high standard. The last guy that done the work on the box has since retired. I'll only have the breakdown of costs when I get the bill I assume. I can post it here later. Car will be getting fixed shortly.
  3. Sorry, I asked the garage the cost for the fly and clutches and that's what they said. I only assume my clutches will need done as it's 90000 from from the last change. The fly is the major issue. Hope this helps.
  4. Thanks gammyleg for the quick reply. When the mec failed it had apparently damaged something in the box. How long do the clutches normally last? Does the £1400 quoted sound reasonable?
  5. Hi all, 2017 DSG flywheel rattle at 185000 miles. My question is when changing the fly do you also replace the clutches? I've been quoted £1400 to do the above work. Does that sound reasonable? Car had mechatronic replaced at 90000 and possibly clutches also. I can't remember exactly but it was a £3000 job. Anyway any advice very much appreciated.
  6. Thanks ApertureS, that's clears things up. Much appreciated.
  7. I've searched all over, no vids for halogen H7 hi beams. I'm fairly competent at this stuff. It's just the dipped bulbs connector has a handle to grab but the hi beams don't.
  8. Ok I think the screw I'm seeing is one of the retaining screws for the contract ring, is this the simply push an twist using the connection block ? Don't want to force anything!
  9. Hi we're the high beams easy to replace, there appears to i be a star screw in the housing.
  10. Hi guys, had a look at replacing the hi beam bulb but the holder id much different from the dipped beam. Appears to be a star screw holding bulb in place. Is it just a matter of removing that screw to replace the bulb ? Many thanks in advance for any help you all can offer. Will.
  11. Well spotted 😊
  12. Yes I think that's the plan, apparently the knobs just pull off so should be an easy fix. It's interesting that this hasn't happened to anyone else as far as we know.
  13. Hi, you can see the turning grip has broken, it is the same for both knobs. I found out Skoda sell replacements but they are €30 each ! Some Chinese copies are available for 6 or 7 euros each. At the moment the knobs still work ok.
  14. Superb V3 standard unit no nav.
  15. Hi, has anyone experienced the round audio knobs on the media/radio falling apart. The fronts seem ok but the sides you touch to adjust volume etc are falling off. I'm very surprised by this as expected better quality from Skoda. Oh btw, no I haven't got hammers for fingers lol.
  16. I have the 10 and 12mm long glow plug sockets. Bought them for this job. No issues removing the actual plugs, warm engine and WD40. Surprising amount of rust on the threads. Ceramic grease went on the new ones. Been working on my own cars for 30 years. Only light stuff now due to old age pains 🤪 Hopefully other members will find this info useful and your link for the removal tool which is a 10mm. Remember the sensor plug is a 12mm.
  17. Yes I had no.4 open circuit but as you said I replaced them all at 136000. Just so annoyed the no.3 connection broke. As I said in my post I glued it together and it seems to click on and hold ok but when driving today after clearing all the stored codes I got open circuit cylinder 3 (the sensor circuit). Gonna wait to see if it's a glitch before taking a hammer to my scotom.
  18. Unfortunately there is a clip on the sensor plug lead which is impossible to see. The clip would be at the end of the lead and almost impossible to get at to squeeze the tabs when the plug is in situ. When I pulled the lead off as gently as I could the contact on the lead snapped off leaving the rest of the contact still on the plug ! I was able to remove the rest of the contact with long nose pliers from the plug. Luckily some strong glue and insulation tape repaired the contact lead. So beware the sensor plug lead has a push on clip and cannot simply be pulled to remove.
  19. Are you sure, this is the pressure sensor plug I'm referring to in cylinder 3. It's a superb V3 1.6tdi CR.
  20. Hi all. Does the no 3 plug lead remove like the rest, IE just pulling. I've read there is tabs to squeeze ? I've been putting this off until I know exactly how no 3 comes out. Heard horror stories of plugs breaking in the head
  21. Thanks for the reply guys. I do service my own cars as MarkyG82 mentioned. It's good to know you can reset using diagnostics. Have anyone heard of this button failing before, or ever been replaced on the 3V.
  22. The trip test button has stopped working. It wouldn't annoy me only for the fact you need it to reset service light. Is there another way to reset this without using the ignition and trip button ? Thanks in advance..
