  1. Defo an electrical fault bud. If you were in Glasgow I could recommend a top guy. I asked for recommendations and most garages recommended him. Anyway good luck
  2. Hi, it was an auto eletrician who found them bud. He said that he tied them back from touching the manifold. Does the light come on even when the engine is cold?
  3. Hi thanks for replying. I'm not sure what type it is (help), it's a 2.0 litre diesel.
  4. Hi can anyone help please. My octavia mk 3, 66 plate has started to develop a rattling noise coming from below the engine. When I depress the clutch slightly it goes away. I've read that it's probably clutch flywheel wear. Any idea how long I can go without replacing it as I'm skint right now? Thanks in advance.
  5. Well done bud. Please let me know the cost of a new one and how you got on.
  6. Thanks bud. I've got a taxi test in 2 weeks. Will let you know how it went.🤑 lol
  7. Hi my skoda octavia 2.0L tdi mk 3's boot will only open if I long press the middle button on the key. Anyone experienced this. Any help would be much appreciated.
  8. Hi, thanks for your reply. I've managed to open it by holding the boot key symbol on my key for a few seconds. Hopefully it will keep working.
  9. Yes, it sounds like it's opening but isn't.
  10. Hi, I've got a 2.0 litre tdi 66 plate octavia . Recently the boot has stopped opening either by key or switch. I tried lubricating the lock but it seems to be getting worse. Anyone had this fault?
  11. Hi there. He did, the problem was a couple of wires were too close to the engine manifold and this was causing false signals been sent to the ecu. Hope this helps
  12. Thanks for the reply. The other car had the same problem. An erratic engine overheating warning light. I've had sensors, thermostat even waterpump changed so I think it's an electrical problem. Going to see an auto spark on Thursday so here's hoping.
  13. Thanks for your post bud, I haven't got any leaks though. I'm sure it's an electric problem as the warning light comes on sometimes when I start the engine and then randomly. I seen a similar post from 2017 which makes me wonder if it's a common fault.
  14. Hi Ryan, I'm having the exact same problem with my 2016 octavia 2.0 litre tdi. I've had all sensors, thermostat, waterpump changed still no affect. Did you find out what was causing the problem?
  15. I've got a 66 plate skoda octavia. I mentioned earlier on another post that the engine overheating warning light and associated screetch has been driving me mad. I've had all mechanical components checked and have been assured that the engine is not overheating. It's a wiring problem. I've been quoted up to £1500 to fix it as I've been told it's a lot of investigative work to suss out the origin of the problem. I can't afford that just now so can anyone please advise me how to lower/ mute the volume of the warning sound until I can afford to get it fixed.
  16. Thanks PipH, that's what I thought. Will get that checked asap.
  17. Hi folks, I've spent a few bob trying to sort this problem and I've still got it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Engine overheating warning light comes on sporadically and the engine stutters (not always). I've been told it's not overheating and I'v had new waterpumps, sensor and thermostat fitted. Sometimes the warning comes on straight away before the engine has a chance to heat up. Lately the coil light has also came on and I have difficulty starting. When I do start, I run the car for a few miles (think it's in limp mode) Stop the car, restart and the car drives normally. It's driving me crackers.
  18. Yes thanks, that was something they thought might be the problem
  19. Hi everyone I'm new here. I'm a Glasgow private hire driver and drive a 66 plate 2.0 litre Skoda Octavia. Lately my temperature warning light has been coming on randomly. I took it to a garage and ended up paying over £700 for 2 new water pumps, new thermostat, new sensor and new thermostat. This however has not solved the problem. I have been assured by the garage that the car is not overheating. When the light comes on sometimes the car loses power for an instant sometimes not. Also the temp gauge occasionally drops to zero then back up sometimes going higher than 90. If I turn the engine off then on, it goes back to 90. The light also comes on sometimes after just starting the car, when the engine hasn't had a chance to overheat. I'm not sure if it is related to breaking as sometimes it comes on when I break, not always though. I would be extremely grateful for any advice.
