Hi, I've got a 2.0 litre tdi 66 plate octavia . Recently the boot has stopped opening either by key or switch. I tried lubricating the lock but it seems to be getting worse. Anyone had this fault?

could be that the mechanism is failing. when you go to open the boot, do you hear the mechanism working?

Yes, it sounds like it's opening but isn't. 

Sounds like a failing mechanism to me. I had a similar issue with a door mechanism.

 

Quick google, you can pick up a 2nd hand mech for around £40.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've managed to open it by holding the boot key symbol on my key for a few seconds. Hopefully it will keep working.
