  1. Right a bit more info. Interim service 2016, interim service and brake fluid change 2018 and this month has had service, commensurate with age, whatever that entails plus cambelt and water pump Not sure what happened between 2018 and now, probably nothing. Is a Euro 5 Now re emissions. As stated by dealer 'With regards to the emissions status the vehicle was not impacted so did not need any work doing ie. It did not require the engine management changing or a new flow device fitting' So do we think it is worth £11k? Comparing with others out there price seems fair to me, but what do I know? Nothing when it comes to Skodas hence on here😊
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Dealer will have to put an MOT on it. Past ones look as you say nothing of note. Will ask dealer re service history. I did wonder as it lists 99g CO2/km just inside the zero tax band, very convenient😉 It does come with 12 mths warranty. I think a call to the dealer is required.
  3. Seen this and looks, to my mind, not a bad deal. Anyone think otherwise? https://usedcars.skoda.co.uk/en/used-cars/skoda/octavia/16-tdi-cr-se-5dr-nxcvhch
  4. Yes I have Android so whatever it called will do.😀
  5. Hi Seems one can use any unit that comes with something called car play, one learns something new every day. Seems the way to go, as have said to others now that is sorted just need the car. Thanks
  6. All good on the knowledge front all I need now is the car.
  7. Hi Right think have got my head around it. So good to go if it has CarPlay, have made a note of that.
  8. So are you saying, hope I am correct, is I download maps onto the phone from as you say home internet and when out and about do not need to be connected via a mobile signal just have the phone switched on and somehow connected to the radio/display.
  9. My question also. One must need a connection to get mobile maps whereas a satnav stand alone unit is well a satnav unit not needing connection to any paid service.
  10. Yes but do I not need a mobile signa1 for it to work. That ia a great problem because lots of areas where I live the mobile signal is non existant.
  11. Hi Thanks for the reply. In the written off Freelander I had fitted a Garmin satnav, took the place if a sort of cubby hole in the top dash fitted a treat and worked a damned sight better than the LR version. It had a SD card for maps but also had usb cable appearing in glovebox from it to update maps as unit was fixed behind dash and to take out SD card involved a bit of dash dismantle hence usb cable. I never listen music in the vehicle anyway nor the radio so no probs there. As the mobile phone signal here is rubbish at best, which you might be aware of as in Norfolk also, I would not want to reply on needing one to get live maps. Hence the like to have one containing the satnav built in. So are you saying I need to look for one with Amundsen unit?
  12. Hi Ah see that is the setup I least want. I often forget my phone when going in the car that does not help things. Plus I like a satnav to be a satnav and nothing else.
  13. Now I may have this totally wrong but I thought Bolero was radio and a few other things only, no satnav. For that I thought one had to get Columbus. Been looking at ads and in one vehicle they show a map on unit marked Bolero so I am at a loss. Am I missing something obvious. I like cars with built in satnav not ones where you have to connect phones up, I am not into all that malarkey.
  14. Hi Gaz Seen a couple of beige interiors as you say must lighten it up compared to the black. Re sat nav will do thanks.
  15. Right another question regarding radio etc. I thought to get sat nav one needed the Columbus setup. Am looking at a car listed as having the Bolero but screen shows sat nav. Am I missing something?
  16. One thing I forgot to note is interior colour is okay if one likes black.
  17. Yes the only way to do it really. Only problem will be listening to the salesman's bull.
  18. Trawling through all the ads but no joy yet. I find the trim levels not the easiest to get my head around. Should, in theory, be getting the hire car today so will trot off and have a look at some models.
  19. Think I need to visit local Skoda dealer and at least sit in an Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq for starters.
  20. I have lloked at the Kodiaq also but unsure. Always had LR 4x 4s
  21. Thanks for the input. Never had a DSG box before but they seem popular on VAG vehicles. The 1st one you list is a bit odd in stated as a 2017 model on a 19 plate. I wonder what happened to 2018. Seeing a 1.0 litre engine attached to a Octavia, and an estate at that, did get me wondering about performance, or lack of. Not having sat in either an Octavia or Superb I cannot comment on how spacious either seems. Will have to venture out this week when my replacement hire car turns up. I am used to vehicles with a fairly high commanding position of the road and will not want one that sits low like my wife's Audi A4 . In that ones a**e feels inches off the road surface. Now is many moons since I bought a car off a dealer and I know prices are high but what % figure should I be aiming for to get discounted for a cash sale?
  22. Ah so no good fro trips to the tip loaded with allsorts😄 On my previous posts about this topic was told the 1.2 is not a bad engine but nobody mention the 1.0 litre. Any thoughts on the price discrepancy between the two sites? Thanks
  23. Just noted car is on Autotrader at £27500 and on Skoda website at £22990 seems odd to me.
  24. Is not this car somewhat underpowered? https://www.group1auto.co.uk/skoda/used-cars/octavia-estate/se/se-tsi/2466949
  25. Joined a while back with intention of replacing current vehicle. Has now been decided for me as was written off last Thursday. Guy has admitted was his fault, trying to adjust his contact lens, one born every day. So am now seriously needing to find something. Want to be driving the replacement hire car as little as possible. So as before was tossing up between Octavia and Superb estates. Am not asking what is good in those, got a lot of helpful answers last time, more as what should I avoid? Any real lemon engines out there, same for gearboxes. I am happy with any fuel and any gearbox.
