Just had my VRS petrol serviced at Skoda Leeds and they have replaced the engine cover with the new (safe) cover.

Does anyone know if the auto handbrake which engages when the engine is off can be manually disengaged? For example in event of breakdown, can the car be pushed or towed? Never needed to do this yet, but maybe one day!

Anyone had a replacement yet? Maybe the cover does not do much, but the uncovered engine looks a mess. It cannot be a big job to re-design the cover clear of the hot parts. It seems like Skoda are being lazy and hope their customers are not bothered if their engine compartment looks unfinished. This is not good enough. Unless someone can confirm that replacements are on the way, I will contact Skoda UK for their comment.

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. I have tried the dashcam fixed to the side window and it still does not pickup GPS which suggests the dashcam is faulty. I have discussed with Nextbase who have agreed to send me a replacement, so hopefully this will be the solution. Once again, thanks for your posts.

I have fitted a Nextbase 622GW dashcam to my 2021 Octavia VRS but it does not pickup a GPS signal and so will not record my speed. I have contacted Nextbase tech guys who say it could be due to the heated windscreen which stops the GPS signal. Has anyone else experienced this with Nextbase or any other dashcam?
