  1. I got a straight pipe done on my PD170 VRS less than a year ago, the tips are now looking like this. The guy who fitted the exhaust also supplied the pipe and tips, is it rust and can I remove/ prevent it? Thanks https://imgur.com/a/pm7p26X
  2. Hello all, apologies if this is in the incorrect section. I use a clip on phone holder to my air vent and unfortunately in traffic it looked to have broken, but I don’t think it’s snapped. I’m just wondering if anyone had a trick to get it back on the pivot thing, or what’s my best bet? please see pics attached thanks
  3. Will see if I can get my deposit back so 🤣
  4. 🤣 I have literally 0 tools and less knowledge By the time I have everything bought and hope the car doesn’t fall on my head there might be 50/100 in the difference
  5. @KenONeill thanks for the advice, following those steps is probably out of my comfort zone 🤣 By the time I have stands, brushes, paint etc bought it would probably be the same as getting someone to do it I found a guy who said he would do it for €220, painting the drums and callipers so I’m just going to take the hit and get it done right I think 🤣 Loosening the wheels and driving a small bit is a brilliant idea however
  6. Cool, will give that a go No never, the wheels are possibly rusted on and I don’t have proper axel stands at the minute to knock them off, so didn’t want to chance it. The brakes were checked at last service by mechanic and he said they were okay.
  7. Hi guys Ive noticed the inside of my wheels are starting to rust/ corrode and am just wondering what is the best action to take to get these looking good? I’ve no experience with cars in general however would like to give this a go myself if it’s not too big a job. Please see pics attached, thanks!
  8. What’s the difference? Sorry I have literally 0 mechanical knowledge
  9. @Nosnxhaha don’t even mention it, prices of used cars in Ireland are actually going up at the minute due to a shortage 😂 4.8k was considered cheap 😆 My mechanic did a pressure test and a block test and nothing showed up on either, think it’s worth getting a second opinion on it though before it’s written off. if you were in my position what would you do? I was considering getting an entirely new engine for it
  10. @mac11irl I actually have another thread open I’m having a few issues at the minute 😛 Any recommendations greatly appreciated
  11. @mac11irlLimerick You?
  12. @Nosnx it was bought for 4.8k and the balance has been repairs/ additions I’m not sure if I could afford another 2-3k bill, as I am only 23 i recently put an induction kit on it, would that cause any issues that you know of? I have the diesel model

Hi, have just joined this forum Driving a blue Octavia VRS MK2 08 plate in Ireland
  14. Hi guys, I have just bought a 2008 Octavia VRS and have been absolutely loving it however last week I noticed a considerable lack of power in the car and that the coolant was nearly down to the min line after being topped up about 1k miles ago Brought it to my mechanic and he said the turbo is blown along with “water getting in to the internals”? Not sure what is meant by that. Basically I am just trying to weigh up my options here, I know the car is old but I’ve only just got it. Is it worth getting the turbo fixed even though there’s a possible coolant leak? Should I buy an entirely new engine? Or try to sell it to someone who would be more mechanically minded? Ive about 6k put into the car already willing to spend more if it guarantees to longevity of the car but at the same time need to draw the line somewhere And feedback would be much appreciated
