  1. Hay, I had to just get it fixed in the end .. but wasn’t that much! Paid just over £1000 fitted and that was at a Skoda dealership .. Had to wait a good few weeks for the part.
  2. Just been trying to find out information to see what experiences other have had with their DSG gearbox. I've seen that some have had issues? I have a late 2017 2.0 TDI 7 seat with a 7 speed gearbox. I'm just wondering if a software update might have caused the issue. Last week it went in for a service and apparently they also did "recall" work which happened to be a software update .. not sure exactly the nature of the update but anyway. 4 Days later driving along warning light gear box in emergency mode .. there was also a message saying that unusually high energy usage?? lost odd numbered gears. Seemed to reset itself when the engine was switched off but the issue returned on the return journey. Next day booked car in for diagnostics but would be another 4 days. Still needed to drive the car so did do but cautiously .. happened again but this time only had two gears 2 & 4 .. this was the Saturday .. didn't have the issue at all the rest of the week. Took the car in for diagnostics today .. confirmed it was the mechatronics unit .. 😞 .. thing is I'm now sure the car is shifting differently .. and more smoothly .. since the diagnostics! Any advice would be welcomed.
  3. Yes its the minimum width .. I have to admit I can't remember which footpace we have 😆 and I'm away at the moment.
  4. This might help if people are worried about the weight .. https://www.trekoverland.com/pages/roof-load-rating-for-roof-tents this very nicely shows you all the ‘maths’ going back to My original comments .. the Thule foot pack casing protrudes along the bar towards the centre of the car further than other bars … Hence why asking if others who might have other makes of bars might be able to measure the distance between them. I only need another inch.. but I think I might just be about to get the drill out to move the tracks on the roof tent .. will be the cheaper option at least! 🤣
  5. Yes maybe I’ve not described the issue. It’s not the overall length of the bars that is the issue is the distance between the foot packs along the bars. Different makes of bars have different fixtures so I was hoping that someone else might have a different make of bars and be able to tel me the width between the rear bars. I take your point about the max weight and I’ve already considered this.
  6. I've recently bought a lovely roof tent. I have to admit we didn't read the specification carefully enough. We didn't realise that the Thule Roof bars only had a maximum distance 31" (ish) but we need about 33"! its fine at the front .. hadn't noticed that they actually get slightly narrower towards the back! So my question .. as any got roof bars that are NOT Thule bars? If so what usable distance do you have between the fittings? Thinking it might be easier to buy new bars than the move rails on the tent AND drill new holes .. Help is appreciated.
