  1. banging noise from beneath the car travelling over rough surface
  2. Just for the benefit of Northern Ireland Skoda folks, mine was done for the same price at the JW Auto Centre, Castleroe road, Coleraine. Good people.
  3. Bargain, just shows you that providing you have confidence in the guy or company doing the job for you, then you don’t have to be blackmailed into paying unjustified prices to dealers sporting a logo.
  4. I am in Northern Ireland, so this is a UK price, my car is a Octavia 1.6 diesel of 2012 vintage. The garage used is a VAG approved workshop in Coleraine, work took 4 hours to complete.
  5. Following the purchase of my 2012 Octavia saloon last week, as it had no record of the the cam belt being changed I took it to my local VAG registered garage and they replaced the timing belt/alternator belt/ water pump for £360 all in including VAT. Thought this was quite a good deal.

Hi everyone, just bought my first Skoda, a 2012 1.6 diesel saloon . I am 75 years old and have owned many makes of car in the past including my current classic, a 1972 Triumph 1500 FWD. On the classics I perform all tasks, on the every day cars, I tend to have the dealers do the work. I have to say, I have owned the Octavia for one week, and am very impressed with the performance and comfort in this 73,000 mile example , as a precaution, I am having the timing belt and water pump replaced later this week, as there is no record of this being done in the service book. Looking forward to many more miles in this car.
