Delivery times?
Agreed! When I reported on here that I had been given a week 1 2022 build date I then heard that everything was shut down until the 10th.. which seems accurate, because there are news reports online that say the same. What is going on? Maybe my car is being built after all!!

I have now!

Car Rejected Activated
Absolutely not a criticism in anyway - I hope you didn't take it that way. Just trying to get an understanding of the issues as I've got one coming (eventually). I have obviously read a lot of bad things about the software, but I am hopeful at least that that is something that can be fixed over time after taking delivery (although of course this shouldn't need to happen). Mechanically, I haven't heard too many complaints (yet).

Car Rejected Activated
Just out of interest, are the reasons for rejection all around the software or are there mechanical issues as well?

Oh well - doesn't look like my car is getting built first week of Jan then 😐 I doubt my dealer is lying, especially since I didn't even ask for this update - probably just reading off whatever is on the system.

Delivery times?
I think the strange bit is me being given a build week right in the middle of the shut down! No idea what is going on there but I guess we will find out. Eventually.

Ah, interesting! Let's see what happens then.

Delivery times?
I just received an unsolicited communication from my dealer 🤩 So actually, no new news since this is the same info I had before, but this is the first time they have used the term "confirmed build week" and also interesting to see the timing estimate from build. Fingers crossed. For those interested, a fairly standard 1.5 Tsi SE Estate ordered end Sept 2021.

Thanks Lee. I'm wondering if "provisional" is just a word my dealer used himself, rather than an official designation, on the basis that all build dates are provisional until it has actually happened. I do have a week, which is week 1 2022, although that sounds implausibly soon to me (ordered end Sept, 1.5 Tsi SE estate).

Where did you get that from Jonny? Also, commiserations - what model have you ordered?
-
Delivery times?
Just curious Lee, but did you ever have a "provisional" build date? This is what I have at the moment (apparently), and just wondering what it means in the real world and how likely a provisional build date is to become a real build date.

Yeah, communication could definitely be improved. The best would be some sort of login so that you could just go and check on the status of your order - this would also save the dealerhsips the work of responding to queries.

At least you are getting updates! I have heard nothing unprompted at all from my dealer in 3 months, but to be fair he did answer fairly quickly to a request for an update about 3 weeks ago. I don't want to keep pestering him tho, so will limit myself to monthly update requests. It would be nice to know that I would get updates if anything changes - perhaps that only happens once the build has started?

Delivery times?
My take on it, FWIW, is that producing cars right now must be a logisitical nightmare, with part finished cars being stored up, some orders that can't be completed, some that can be completed in one go etc etc. Putting all of these cars into some sort of order probably requires the logistics to be considered first and foremost, with honoring the chronological order of the orginial orders some way down the priority list, if indeed it makes that list at all. So from the outside it looks fairly random, but I imagine there is a system at work in there somewhere..

It does sound from a few posts on there that more basically specced petrol cars are being built reasonably quickly (it's all relative!). That may be wishful thinking tho, since that is exactly what we have ordered as well!

Delivery times?
Hard to know without better information, as you say. Can you try and get an estimate for each? (probably not!). Also hard to suggest anything without knowing the relative value you put on the rear view camera vs getting your car earlier. If a rear view camera was a plausible aftermarket addition, then it might be worth thinking about just adding it later.

I missed out on the 0% deal, and the truth is that losing that and going on to something 4%+ is likely to cost you a lot more than a simple 2.5% price increase (which is what I think they have announced). I'd be extremely annoyed if they pulled this deal because of a delay which is more their fault than yours (insofar as it is anyone's) - let's hope they don't. If they were to start doing things like this, I'm sure it would annoy a lot of people!

I'm assuming that they don't actually do this though, do they? When I ordered mine (via Drive the Deal) part of the sell was to get in before any price rises, so certainly the spirit of the deal, if not the letter, would imply that my price is locked in. I'd be extremely peeved if they tried to extract more money from me during this process on top of the 6+ month wait!

Thanks for the uptdate Lee, that gives me a bit of hope since we have ordered the exact same model, perhaps two months after you. It sounds like things are moving a bit.

Octavia Estate SE 1.5 TSI, with metallic paint, LED interior lights and Simply Clever pack.

Delivery times?
Yeah, that's the impression I'm getting - I'll temper my excitement, which had gone up a notch after this morning's email. Still, my dealer had already made the sale so no particular reason for him to give a much earlier build data than he had originally, if indeed a build date in Jan actually does translate into a UK delivery before April.
-
Delivery times?
OK, thanks - I did wonder. So your build was brought forward 6 months from the original provisional date you were given? Maybe things are starting to move a bit then, if I've understood that right..
-
Delivery times?
That's what we were expecting, or at least to take delivery around that time (April(ish) was my best guess). I was actually worried it might be even later having read this thread, so I decided to drop the dealer a mail on the off chance they had some info. To be fair, he answered quite promptly but they have not been forthcoming with an information otherwise - in fact I haven't heard anything from them since the day they took our deposit. Assuming that there is any validity at all to the 1/22 date, perhaps it is because we have a fairly hair-shirt version with little in the way of extra electronics? (no cameras, no front sensors, no fancy sound system etc).

Delivery times?
Hi All, Since I've been lurking around on this thread for a while, I thought I'd join up and add another data point, now that I have received a delivery week. We ordered a bog-standard SE estate, with LED light pack, simply clever pack and metallic paint (no further options) at the beginning of October 2021. We were quoted up to 30 week delivery. After reading about estimated build weeks etc I decided to drop our dealer a mail this morning, and he told me that we had a provisional build week of 1/22 - yes, the first week of 2022! If that is true, then I guess things might be moving a little faster than anticipated, but I just wanted to check whether "provisional" build week had any real weight (is it just a place holder for "some time in 2022"?), and also wondered if anyone had a rough idea how long after build week we might expect to actually get the car? We are UK based.
