  1. Thanks for that, I’m sure when I use main beam I also have the dip beam side of the H4 lit , that’s why I went for the LED , I was worried that with a standard H4 halogen they would get too hot
  2. That’s all extremely interesting thank you I assume your cat had reflector headlights from the factory ? can I ask, when you switch the main beam on does the green dipped beam warning light remain on or go off? mine stays on.
  3. Yes, I found the main beam fuses blew fist time, was it you that said to update it? once I fitted a 10 amp they worked fine. ordered the LEDs in case the H4 wasn’t supposed to run both filaments at once & melted the light unit 😂
  4. No, I’ve swapped the headlights for H4 non projectors as fitted to base versions of the car. the only thing I’m not sure about is the dip & main beam now come on together when on main beam. Some people say that’s supposed to happen, I always thought that the H4 bulb was designed to have one or the other lit.
  5. Hi i used these. expensive but good so far NOVSIGHT H4 LED Headlight Bulbs Hi/Lo Beam 55W/Pair 10000LM 6000K Car Replacement Lights of Halogen and Xenon Kit 2 Lamps https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07S178H9Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_CZ1BESV024BB0CAVK1FY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  6. Fantastic advice , thanks. the door card has been on & off so many times I can do it in my sleep!
  7. Thanks I’ll try it. Thanks , the amount of bellendery I’ve seen on this car anything is possible 😂😂
  8. This makes sense. The door lock had been messed about with when I got the car. I fitted a new one. what do I do? Just hold the key all the way over in the drivers door until all the windows drop, then go the other way? cheers gareth
  9. Hi i have a 2008 Fabia 2 1.4 TDi estate ever since I got it 3 years ago the drivers window switch has operated in the wrong direction. Up is down & down is up! someone said it might be a LHD switch but that doesn’t make sense. does anyone have any ideas? cheers gareth
  10. My 2008 Fabia 2 doesn’t have a seatbelt warning system either.
  11. Just to finally put this one to bed. I’ve fitted a pair of LED bulbs to reduce heat & current draw. the headlamps are brilliant now. my friend is a MOT tester he’s had a look at the beam pattern (on the beam checker) & can’t find anything wrong.
  12. Oh yeah I know with separate lights they stay on. I just aways assumed H4s were wired to switch over. im sure it’s just something I’ve assumed & never needed to question 😂
  13. Ah! Thank you for the original tip , I should have remembered it before!! I always assumed it was that one filament was shrouded & the other wasn’t that gave a H4 dip & main. I think I’ll Chuck a couple of spare bulbs in the car just incase & see what happens!
  14. Just another small update. I got thinking about this & something someone said about changing a fuse rang a bell. I checked & found the main beam fuse blown (5A) changed for a 15amp & I now have flash & main beam. HOWEVER I’m almost certain that on main I’ve actually got both dip AND main beam filaments of the bulb lit! Obviously they won’t last long like that 😂
  15. Yes, there’s all kinds of options but I’m not good enough to do the electrics / electronics. I’m looking at other options. I can just throw the original lights back in & eat more carrots 😂😂
  16. Hi. thanks for the reply. The relay isn’t in the headlight. I’ve just been over to the car & the main problem I’ve identified is the wire that lights the bulb in the HDI light is the dip feed to the H4 That’s why I’m getting permanent dip beam. I can’t get voltage out of the wire to the shutter so I’m a little confused about that. I think I’m giving the idea up & investigating changing the HDI units in my existing light units
  17. Hi. finally got time to install the H4 headlamps into the car. the problem I have is I have dip beam but when I operate the main beam or flash nothing happens. the lights stay on dip & the dip beam warning stays on. The main beam warning never illuminates. I suppose that as above the wiring diagrams are too different. so, where next? As I can still use the car (although it won’t pass MOT, so shouldn’t be on the road) I’m going to look into Changing the projector units in my original lights. They are about 1/2 the price of new units, I’ll remove the projector before ordering so I know I’ve ordered the right one etc.
  18. The plugs look the same & someone else on here said they plug straight in 😳😳😳😳 I suppose I’ll find out 😂 thank you for all the information, greatly appreciated
  19. Hi just to update the topic. I’ve ordered a good second hand pair of H4 headlights. not looking forward to playing with front bumper fixings again but it’ll be worth it! keep you posted 👍
  20. Thanks UrbanPanzer, yes I was aware , just using projector & halogen as shorthand. I’m running osram night breakers but the light has slowly got worse. They are set up correctly on my friends MOT bay equipment. thanks for the advice on normal lamps working ok. I think I’ll get a pair.
  21. Ok, just answered my own question. H4 lamp units are out there. BUT will they work on a car that left the factory with projectors 🧐
  22. Yes, I was suspecting that would be the case. Can you get the same shape unit that just has halogen lamps in?
  23. Hi I’ve got a 2008 Fabia 2 with the projector headlamps, the ones with the single bulb for dip & main beams. they are absolutely rubbish! I’ve tried better bulbs, still rubbish. Doing some research I’ve found some YouTube videos explaining that the aluminium reflector deteriorates causing poor light output. (He’s got a SAAB) he started to take you through dismantling the headlamps to change the lamp units but by the time he’d had them in his kitchen oven for 20 mins & bent them all out of shape pulling the fronts off I switched off ! SO ….does anyone know any other option than £20+++ for a new pair of headlamps? does anyone offer refurbished units? Is there a fancy LED bulb that wouldn’t be legal in a good lamp or anything?
