Which Karoq DSG?
It's a lease car and goes back in December 2024 - it will probably be around 40k miles by then so unless there's a recommendation by the dealer to do so, then no.

Which Karoq DSG?
My December 2020 manufactured 1.5 front wheel drive Tiguan is the DQ381. Can't say I've notice much difference in real life driving between it and the DQ200 in my Skoda

Karoq SEL incoming
Thought I might have got away with not servicing it during my 2 year lease term which is up in December, but it's been racking up the miles as I've been going into the office 4 or 5 days a week, instead of 3. It was set for long-life servicing from the start, so a single oil, inspection and filter change service today at Skoda Aberdeen for £264 doesn't seem too painful over the lease term. The Bridgestone 19"s are still at 5-6mm all round after 19k miles so not even close to wearing low. I can honestly say this one of the most simple & straightforward cars I've ever had - no constant niggles, warning lights, recalls, software updates or everything else that seems to afflict most new cars. I put that down to the "lack" of the latest tech in the car, instead having tried & tested stuff instead. It's just done everything smoothly, reliably and without fuss. Ride comfort has been fine on the 19s, but our Tiguan with higher profile 19s is definitely a tad more comfortable It was genuinely difficult to decide what to do 🤔 - whether to look for another Karoq deal, extend this one with Zen or look at other models.. I had thought about extending the lease from 2 to 3 years, but instead have made up my mind to change into something completely different which is scheduled to arrive in October/early November, and Zen.Auto will be taking this back 1-2 months early 🙂 Right decision? Time will tell...

Dashcam 2023
I fitted this instead - can't remember the price at the time but I bought it anyway with some gift cards Plugs straight into the OBD diagnostic socket so very easily removed, and provides constant power to two USB sockets for powering dashcams - I had a Garmin Dashcam already but anything that takes power from a standard USB socket will work. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-010-12530-23-Constant-Power-Cable/dp/B094Y3KNFJ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=garmin+constant+power+cable&qid=1691871087&sprefix=garmin+const%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-3

Software Update...?

Is VW Taos a Karoq in disguise?
Yes, it is closely related to the Ateca/Karoq https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Taos
-
Rearview camera, any options?
Whereas on our Tiguan with a slightly different camera setup (seems a bit higher resolution than the Karoq) and full park assist (but not area view), the yellow lines are overlaid on the grid and do move with steering inputs
-
Rearview camera, any options?
No, as I can park reasonably well all by myself
-
Rearview camera, any options?
This is how it appears on mine with the basic reversing camera and not the upgraded area view - the green/red grid is fixed, and the yellow path/guide on the left of the screen reacts to steering inputs

Aircon not great.
Skoda sell their models all over the world, including in hot/humid/tropical countries and reuse the same hardware across a number of models and trims, whether that is for Norway. Sweden or India & Singapore, or anywhere in between these temperature extremes. In the European market regions, they fit the same air con condenser as they do for very hot/humid/tropical countries, but choose to have it set at a lower power rating for WLTP emissions purposes, as driving the air-con unit at full capacity all the time will have an impact on fuel economy. Simplest way to think about it is that if the car interior is at 30 degrees when you get in and you want to get it cooled to 20 degrees, the car (when in hot country mode) will achieve that target temperature in a quicker time than a car set in non hot country mode - whether that is 5 minutes quicker, or whatever...I don't know, but my car does seems to get cooler at a quicker rate than before I made the change. https://obdeleven.com/en/ is where you can buy the hardware device needed to connect to the diagnostic port

Aircon not great.
OBD Eleven has a one-click app to tweak the settings of the air-con system to set it as a 'hot country' setting - it does work and makes a slight difference in real life, based on trying it out for a few weeks now. It sets the compressor to work at a higher cooling rate to help bring the cabin to the desired temperature more rapidly - I imagine for emission/WLTP/fuel economy reasons, Skoda set most of Europe as 'non hot country' (Middle East/India/Singapore/Australia, etc.) Clearly, it can't make the temperature any colder.

Pointless automotive trends part 232
I’ll be using a place called “We Restore Alloys” that operate out of Dundee as well as Stirling and Kirkcaldy - they have their own lathes on site and do work for all the local main dealers as well as luxury brands like Lamborghini and Bentley dealers They have no issue matching to exact OEM paint codes. Have used them before to repair a diamond cut wheel for my wife’s previous A4 - that was a pig to match as it had a unique to that model satin anthracite grey paint as well as a laser-etched logo. They also re-did a complete set of VW Passat CC wheels in a different OEM paint code instead of the standard VW silver that came out brilliant
