Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
Its about 47,000 I think. Only had the car just over 2 weeks as mentioned in post one. I would assume Cinch when they checked out the car in the 200 point inspection checked the pads and discs and that they are ok? I think i'll try contacting my main skoda dealer and see if I can get access to any service history of the vehicle, that might help shed some light on what has been done (or not).

Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
Thanks for your ideas so far everyone. Really appreciated. Thats a great idea, i'll give that a go on a local car park later on and see if I can hear anything. Thanks both, I've always thought that things like brakes (that I am ultimately relying on to keep me safe) should probably be looked at by someone more competent than myself. Whilst I am quite happy to have a go at most things (only yesterday I replaced the rear light cluster which I had damaged) I think something as essential as a brake system should probably be looked at by my local garage. Thanks again for the help. If it was a case of remove the wheel and then squirt something at something (technical I know ) then I probably would have given it a go. Interesting note about the Service History, as its a second hand car and all SH is electronic these days, I don't even know what, if anything has been serviced on the car, or when it was done 🤔. I've seen some threads on here about some people going to the main dealer to ask for the info and getting it, and some getting nothing (GDPR etc)... Anyway, I digress. Thanks again. 👍

Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
Hi All, I'm after some advice, I recently (2 weeks ago) bough my second hand Octavia 2018 Estate from Cinch and since day one, the brakes have made a high pitched squeak when breaking but only at very low speeds and only just before the car comes to a halt. There is no hint of any squeaking until that point. It doesn't do it all the time, only when I'm lightly braking. The car stops normally, I don't have any issue with braking distances and it doesn't feel like its not braking as well as it should. At first I thought this might just be because the car has been potentially stood in a car park for a long time and there might be some crap on the disks / pads that should wear off eventually as I'm braking and effectively "cleaning" them during normal use, but its still there after about a thousand miles of use although most of that has been motorway miles so not much braking. It seems to be coming from the front of the car, but I appreciate sounds like that can be difficult to track down. Things I have tried are: I've done some "cleaning" cycles of driving at 30mph then slowly applying brake pressure to bring the car down to 5mph and then back to 30 and repeat 5 times, some hard braking / emergency stops (I always do this with a new car anyway as I like to know how quickly it can stop just in case I ever need it) etc. I am not very mechanically minded but I am willing to give things a go if they are achievable with normal average DIY tools (I don't have any car specific tools) , so anything you can suggest that I can look at which may point me in a good direction would be great. If its something that might just go away over time, then I'm prepared to live with it for a bit. If I have to take it in to a dealer or someone more mechanically minded than myself, how much would I be looking at assuming its just some crud? Is there something I can buy and spray in there to help clean it? Any and all suggestions welcome. Its a shame really as its practically the only annoying little niggle I've had so far, otherwise completely happy with the car. Thanks, Slick2097

Octavia 2018 FL .. internal lighting query
Bad form to quote yourself but i've just remembered that my Golf did not have KESSY and i've not hit the post count to allow me to edit yet, so ignore that comment above. My Focus (2018) I have just swapped from did have KESSY and used to perform like I have stated previously, not the Golf.

Octavia 2018 FL .. internal lighting query
Thanks, that how I would expect it to work to be honest, but for me, if you have turned off the ignition with the button, surely the car would "assume" you are getting out and illuminate the cabin temporarily? No worries, again, thanks for the update. Looks like its a quirk i'll have to just get used to

Octavia 2018 FL .. internal lighting query
I thought so, its a bit of a design flaw really. I#m pretty sure my Golf Estate (2015) that I had, DSG and KESSY, would illuminate the cabin when put into park and the engine turned off... I just assumed this would do the same. Thanks for the confirmation. Slick297.

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
Hi, My first Skoda: 2018 1.6 TDI 85 kW DSG Octavia Face Lift SE Technology in Black. Photo is from that well known car company fronted by Rylan because i've not taken any pictures of it yet myself. It arrived on Sunday. Upgrades from standard SE Tech spec (that I am aware of): Columbus Nav Canton Sound Heated Front Seats Heated Windscreen (winter pack) Currently I have removed the under boot polystyrene and placed in a space saver wheel and kit. Columbus nav has one of the best screens i've ever seen in a car. Canton sub may as well not be there but the rest of the sound is nice. Very happy with it so far.

Skoda Connect on 2017 FL vrs
I should say my car doesn't do the first two options on Care Connect because it doesn't have the e-call button functionality and so it does not have access to the remote access option ... (unable to edit post above .. apologies).

Skoda Connect on 2017 FL vrs
Good question to be fair. I activated mine assuming it would allow me to use the Care Connect functions to allow me to see if the alarm was set, or if the windows are left open or my current fuel and odometer .. Turns out, my car doesn't have the first two options and the third is controlled by SmartLink+, which is independent of this anyway. (Just remember to open / have open your smartlink app on your phone before you disconnect your phone and turn the engine off) You can check what you can and cannot do by using the Skoda Connect Availiabilty List which will tell you what you can expect to see if it activates. My model: All the infotainment online gubbins on mine has expired and the license needs renewing - £44 a year. No thanks, I can get all that on Waze for free And the care connect on mine is limited to: Which is basically, nothing useful. So yeah, its not amazing, but if its bugging you because its not working, then keep trying Slick2097

Hmm, might be Skoda themselves have a problem if both of you are having issues. Give it an hour or two and try again? Slick2097

Skoda Connect on 2017 FL vrs
Is that when you go to Menu Settings Skoda Connect (Online Services) Registration Or is it still sat there from when you tried to activate it before? If its still sat there, just press the OK or the X button until you can get back to the main menu, then follow the trail above. Slick2097

Octavia 2018 FL .. internal lighting query
Hi, I have recently bought a second hand Octavia 2018 SE Technology estate, very nice car. Very happy with it. There is one thing which I can't seem to fathom out though. When I get home at night, I park up, put the car in Park (its an Auto) and then press the button to turn off the ignition and the cabin is then in total darkness. The rocker switch for the interior lights is in the central position (as it says to in the manual). Lights are on Auto. Coming / leaving home is set to 10 seconds in the head unit. The interior lights only seem to come on when I open the door to get out, which is less than ideal as normally i'd get my keys and stuff ready before I opened the door but with the cabin being dark (and the headlights have gone off) I can't see them. Surely the interior lights should illuminate when I turn the ignition off until I open the door to get out? The manual states: Automatic operation - position The system is turned on when any of the following is present. ▶ The vehicle is unlocked. ▶ One of the doors is opened. ▶ The ignition key is removed. The system is turned off when any of the following is present. ▶ The vehicle is locked. ▶ The ignition is switched on. ▶ About 30 seconds after all the doors have been closed. Is this because I have KESSY and the ignition key is technically not removed? Anything you think I need to check or is this just how it works? Thanks, Slick2097

Skoda Connect on 2017 FL vrs
Hi, You can start the linking process by registering your car VIN via the Skoda Connect website Skoda Connect. This will get you so far through the registration wizard and then will give you a code to enter in the "Settings -> Skoda Connect -> Registration" section of your head unit. Just make sure the car is connected to the WIFI or the hotspot as before and then enter that code, it should then register. Hope that helps. Slick2097

Octavia Mk3 Estate with Canton - spare wheel possible?
Hi, This may have been asked before, but I couldn't see an easy way to search just this part of the forum rather than the entire site so apologies. My car doesn't arrive until Sunday from Cinch, its an SE Technology (2018) so i've only got the pictures from the website to go off. It has Canton (which I guess is good) but it doesn't have a spare wheel. Now, my question is: Is there a spare wheel well under the boot floor, and if so, can I just buy a spare wheel kit and lob it in? The Canton seems to be in a box on the left hand side of the boot on the pictures, but I was just checking there is nothing under the boot floor as well which may stop me from doing this (does the well for a spare even exist?) Many thanks, Slick2097.

Hello, new owner here...
Hi, Just joined, and was informed I should probably post in here. So, i've just bought a second hand Octavia Estate Mk3 (2018) SE Technology 1.6 TDI DSG from Cinch, its getting delivered on Sunday where I will be swapping out my Focus 2018 1.5 Diesel because I don't really like it, there are a few niggles which are annoying me. Nothing majorly wrong with the Focus, but i've had a Golf Estate before the focus so the Octavia seemed like a good fit. I have a few technical questions about the car which I'll pop in the Octavia group. Thanks for reading. Slick2097.
