  1. Yeah , nothing wrong with the old John Player Special colours. A little fine gold piping or decals along the bottom of the doors to tie things in. Will look great. Just don't make it too garish. Good luck.
  2. On my 2014 14 tsi, I used my old mk2 Vrs 18" alloys with 225/40 18 Continental all season contacts. The ride is a bit firmer. All seasons are a tad jelly in the current extra hot days. But most of the year they are great. I do appriciate the extra grip from the wider tyres. The only thing i did, which is something i have never done in the past is use spacers. Just 12mm hubcentric one with the correct lenght bolts. It makes the car look visably lower , without using lowering springs. Also the slightly wider track improves the handling a bit. I'm more than happy with the set up, less compromises than the usual uprating suspension route woes ...especially for a non-vrs version.
  3. No problem. Once your happy with your choice ..thats the main thing. I don't drive to that degree anymore to really appriciate irs. Hence not getting another VRS sadly. As regards quality , the mk3 is built down to price. Recently starting looking at the mk3 Skoda Superb 😉
  4. Having gone from a MK2 VRS ( modified with Koni's STR's Eibach spings , various uprated bushes ,dog mount etc etc ),to a more humble MK3 2014 1.4tsi se. I find the mqb platform the mk3 is based on, a better car to drive in general than the mk2. The VRS was for a younger me ,,,,but the older me really likes the handling , comfort and cornering ability of the mk3. It's also a more spacious car in the rear seats. My only suspenson modes to this car , is my old VRS 18" alloys , 12mm hub centric bolt on spacers ( for a slighly lower look without using lowering springs) and continental all season tyres. I do miss the out right performance of the VRS ...but thats about it. Effectively go for the newer car ....it's an improvement in my opinion.
  5. I kind of had a feeling that would the case. I have been corresponding with mekede , sent video's and such of the issue. But i don't think they will have an answer. I did investigate https://www.dynavin.de/en/products/carhifi/navigation-systems-for-car-hifi/navigation-sytem-7-flex-skoda-octavia-3/ which was going to be my 1st choice , but then realised you have to pay after a free trail for android auto and google play an extra £130. I can understand paying extra for their igo nav software ....but why would yoou when you can use google maps and waze etc etc/ The other option was:- https://www.dynavin.de/en/products/carhifi/navigation-systems-for-car-hifi/navigation-sytem-7-pro-skoda-octavia-3/ The pro version with everything included but at three times price of our units and its using Android as its OS. Have to say it does look like a nice product. But the prices seem very high compared to everything else. If i get any luck from Mekede i'll post an update.
  6. Just to say thanks Fubar for starting this thread and all the other contributors. It has been a good source of information and allowed me avoid a few issues. A few months ago i splashed out and bought a 8 core , android 11 4+64gb version from aliexpress Mekede M500s (7862) -although looks like they have update the spec since i bought mine. Looks exactly like Fubars unit. All good so far no issues with radio , DAB+ or Sat nav and android auto ( feel quite lucky), but i have one main issue that i am still trying to resolve with mekede - the individual driving mode. Specifically not being able to set the individual options. I can select all the modes , but not the individual driving mode options. It's something i did on the OEM unit. Has anybody got this issue or has found a way to get it working ? I have tried software updates , can bus update and a newer can bus module and no joy. My steering wheel has not buttons unfortunately. Any ideas ? cheers.
  7. Hello, I'm back , it's been awhile since i was on , last time it was 2006 Octavia mk2 , VRS 2.0 petrol manual ....quite modified. Ah i do miss that car. After a stint in an Audi A8 4.2 quattro and then an import Subaru legacy estate 2.0 GT turbo ..again missing that one too. Now i have to be sensible and practical , hence my current Octavia mk3 1.4 tsi dsg. As much as i thought it would a massive comprise , so far its been fun and easy going. Unfortunately the modding bug is still with so some things will change from it's basic spec. Before anyone asks " why not start with a VRS " well i wanted a mqb based car and a VRS was out of my price range. So glad to be back with one the best forums i have been on Imgouki
