  1. Answering my own question incase it helps anyone in future. Dealer is £800. Got mine repaired for £150 while I waited. KG auto Electronics. They do a postal service or you go to them - either in Birmingham (handsworth) or Oldham. So far so good.
  2. Hi all, Got into car today, turned steering wheel and heard a faint clock noise. Airbag light came on with message Error Airbag. Also none of steering wheel buttons work. I'm thinking it needs a new clock spring. Anyone have any experience with this fault, and what it may cost?
  3. If you get stuck it's possible to just clean it. I did the same the other month on ours. Had to remove the button which is very easy. Bit of disassembly of the button like this: Fixed my issue.
  4. Agree, worth an ask. My dad had similar many years ago. He wrote to them and they offered a discount on some new tyres as good will. Worth the cost of a stamp!
  5. That does sound strange. If it was a mechanical failure like mine, i can't see how it would make all 4 windows go the wrong way. For less than £20 it's probably worth swapping out in any case. You can always return it.
  6. Didn't have them moving in the wrong direction, but having taken the old switch innards apart, I can see how that might happen. When mine was playing up i could control the windows using the switches on each door fine. To remove: - pry the switch panel up. The whole unit is just clipped in place. So no need to remove the door card or handle. - there are two connectors under the switch, which you need to unclip. Difficult to explain, but one connector has a spring tab you pull to release and the other has a plastic clip. Have a look at the link below. Different car but general principle is the same, take note of how to unclip the two connectors https://youtube.com/shorts/UdX5cP7JntQ?si=GHjmeT__LT_nP0lY This is the switch I bought Power Window Lifter Switch Window... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BSF79VF2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
  7. Our 2018 karoq started to do that recently. It progressively got worse until driver control would not open passenger window or do the auto up/down for the drivers window. I took the switch out to check. The internals of the switch were broken. There are lots of tiny plastic 'rockers' I there, some of which were broken. Got a new switch from Amazon for £15. Problem solved and quite simple to fit. Works well, although some slight difference in light colour of buttons, but nothing major.
  8. Any decent independent can do rear brakes with electronic parking brake. Just go somewhere reputable and you'll be fine.
  9. Just to note, the glovebox is really easy to remove, takes seconds. No tools needed. Bit hard to explain via words... Watch the first 30 seconds of this video https://youtu.be/6K04P-ztMMQ?si=d5jdtx-hBXufSvrB
  10. Forgot to say, you can also buy 's hooks' to hook into the headrest - gives you more to play with. Something like this: https://www.gsproducts.co.uk/stainless-steel-s-hooks/ You'd need to check if the bends are big enough to get round the headrest though
  11. Not sure if what you are proposing will work, but I have found the following way works: Move front seats back so they are closer to the rear seat. When the rear seats are in the raised position, recline the front seats back. This brings the headrest closer to the rear seats. You should be able to hook the rear seats now (still hard, but do-able). You then get back in front seats and move them back forward to your driving position and un-recline them.
  12. Good luck. I've had dealings with VAG cars and corrosion. Always the same response: 1. Need to check paintwork was inspected at service (never is) 2. Rust is on outside and not from inside and is not perforated. i.e not covered 3. Rust has come about due to external mechanical damage e.g wheel arch cover, boot handle. I.e not covered. I found that searching online for similar issues points to some dealers being better than others for accepting warranty claims. It's the dealer attitude that makes or brakes this I'm afraid. Good luck, hope you get it sorted.
  13. Did mine the other week. I removed the bolt holding the handle in. Then pryed the boot lid trim away at the top, just a bit until it disengages with clips that hold it in. This gives enough room to feed the handle through the hole.
  14. Get your battery tested. Think Halfords will do a free battery check. A failing battery can throw up all kinds errors and strange behaviour. If it comes up good, then that's one thing off the list.
  15. Hi all. Just bought a 2018 Karoq and just gave it a clean. I removed the undertray which runs down each side, and there was a massive amount of mud in there. About 1 inch deep in places. Is this normal, or did the previous owner do a lot of driving through mud? I've had cars before which had areas where mud would collect even from normal driving, so would clean it out every now and then.
