Part number help please
So as per a previous post, i finally got hold of the correct 12v socket for the front socker on the octavia, i didnt have the removal tool and incidently screwed up the back surround/retainer thst hokds everyting in place, now i have 12v socket just wobbling around loose and for safety/obvious reasons i will not use it, i dont have the piece as when trying to bodge a fix the black surround fell into the trim panel and is gone forever, i know i can remove the trim and find it, but it was butcherd on removal so not worth the time. Can anyone help, black surround/retainer part number? Or a link to a salvage comany i could request it from of one of there scrap cars. Cheers guys I can unsee the issue, knowing there a little issues makes my skin crawl. Apologies for grammer or spelling, kids running crazy so msgd quickly fisher

vRS vs standard
Hi guys, Just wanted your 2 pence about this....my friend called me out with a question, what is different than looks than a passat you wanted? So i wanted a passat estate originally then finally the wife agreed for something nicer, other than optional extras and a hell of a lot newer than i was looking at for a passat. What are we actually getting if we compared octavia 2.0 TDi vRS blackline to say.... Bog standard taxi spec Audi A4 Vw Passat Seat equivalent All in 2.0 TDi offers Am i right in saying? Sports suspension Chasis built around a mk5 golf gti i read? Body kit Is the boost any different 1.6 bar at 3000 Bigger wheels 170 bhp instead of a possible 140 or 170 model The cool vRS badge? I want to believe we get so much more but do we actually? Kind regards Stephen

Revs, driving and economy
Hi Gav, Glad you got what I meant, 3rd holds 30 nice on a hill off the gas, but on a flat road i feel i need 4th, but this seems to low like 1200 revs, my journey continues, and will find the sweet spot, actually i think i have, 35mph in 3rd gear, feels good, but that's officially speeding.haha kind regards fisher

Revs, driving and economy
Hi Guys, Settling into the vRS now:) but finding the crusing gears/revs/speed ratio etc a little tricky to get perfect. Last car was an Audi A4 2.0 tdi but with different ratios i think. So vRS tdi 2.0 170hp CEGA engine code, what speeds and gears do you guys cruise along in? So as an example when im on a 30mph road, cant decide to keep it in 3rd and be around 1800-2000 revs but it feels she wants the 4th gear but then 4th gear feels to low down the rev range at 30mph What revs do you giys aim to rest at when doing, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 etc Hope this makes sense Kind regards Fisher

backbox/resonator delete
Hi Zah, Thank so much for your response, i cant decide which route to take and you may have helped me, i have watched a bunch of videos and searched on here. I am defo doing away with the backbox, cant decide to pay a little more and get the hornet pack to do away with the resonator, or maybe just do the backbox then see how it feels then do the centre section if i bought the package? Have you done just the backbox and your happy? Kind regards Fisher

backbox/resonator delete
Hi Guys, i Have done a bit of searching and mixed reviews and found some info i was after, i am new to the forum and had my blackline vRS 2 weeksish, 170bhp, standard intake/turbo - exhaust components, i love it, but man is it quite, in previous cars i have done such work as de-cats, downpipes, dpf removals, resonators etc, but often at once or in combinations. my mechanic friend removed his mk5 golf diesel backbox and straight piped and it made zero difference, not a toot different, iv lined up a backbox delete kit but he has suggested i check on here first to see if i will get any change with our cars. there are two kits i have seen, just backbox delete, and or center resonator delete, they are hornet products. ebay/there website 1. is there any change in sound with just backbox removal? 2. do you have any experience removing both center silencer and backbox without horrid drone? kind regards stephen

HI guys - Octavia vRS 2013 Mk2 FL blackline
Hi Guys, I live in the Northwest - Wigan to be precise (no jokes on pies, I'm officially a Boltoner) I have been lerking for around a week, now's the time to post some pics and say hello my wife managed to get some photos of the car on a day out without kids and picnic blankets rocking the background. I am well and truly settled into the grown up life of cars, its been a rough patch but im back. i was always into French cars as a teenager, pug 106, 205 gti, saxo vtr previously owned cars (all of which i was a happy and active forum user) then i found Japanese cars i finished my car hobby with a starlet GT turbo heavily modified with good old Japanese imported parts, but choose a future with a good women and back burned the car hobby when i dropped a gearbox (13 years ago!!) since then all cheap run to the grounders: ford fiesta - 200 quid as we had a holiday booked when the gt turbo died, this thing lasted ages, didn't lock it, mole grips to fasten windows.haha Toyota Yaris - this thing didn't beat an eyelid, never went to garage other than service and MOT, my 2 kids grew up into toddlers with this car Vauxhall Zafaria VXR - long story short, i pined for some sort of car again, wife reluctantly let me get a new car, nowt wrong with the Yaris mind, i wanted a mk5 golf gti but we needed bigger for family days out, this lasted 1 week, turbo and head blew, empty of oil on purchase, i had my blinkers on!! i was done over by a trader in Oldham, following threats etc, I dropped it, i paid for that car for 2 years while getting the bus to work at a hospital. nearly cost my marriage. sold as scrap to a performance specialist and believe it soon became body for there company performance car,400hp i am led to believe as we kept in touch. lancer 1.6 - coilpacks went but had no "buffer" money left so scrapped then i found the VAG scene - Audi A4 b7, absolutely loved it, 3 years she lasted, exhaust mods, mapped, roof bars, lowered etc i have found my true love of german cars, plus i had to stick to VAG as i had coughed up for VCDS/Rosstech.haha So last week the Audis oil pump gave up, she was weathered anyway and her time was up, i was ready for another stand in cheap car, and maybe cycling to work again, the wife knew i had always wanted a vRS but had swallowed the idea, for my kids and wife come first, so here we are, an early birthday present(although i pay the loan.haha) no hassle from the wife, let her help me go look at it, picked it up together etc, think she likes it more than i do, perfect combination of performance, mahoooosive boot for kids days out, we enjoy Hiking in the Lakes and i am completely sure we could sleep in the back!!, comfort and style. i still cant stop looking out my window, i have effectively a dream car on my drive, and pray that all goes well and smooth, issue free driving all my cars get named: meet Vanesa the vRS
