Hi all,
I'd like to ask you about your experience with cleaning and removing the intake manifold on a VAG TDI. In my case, it's a 2012 MK II Superb, 2.0 CFFB TDI, 140 hp.
I recently had the CEL come on and a P0121 error code. Taking off and cleaning the throttle body solved the issue. The engine now also stops without shaking and the throttle is more responsive.
However, I noticed that the intake manifold is full of carbon. I have come across this thread about the EGR nozzle mod, but I can't find more info regarding a dirty intake manifold.
Have any of you experience with either cleaning or removing an intake manifold on a similar engine? One of my main concerns in removing it is keeping debris, accumulated around the seals, from entering the engine. On the other hand, I imagine accidentally pushing chunks of the carbon remains further into the manifold while cleaning it might be bad for the valves.
Best,
Alex
