Where the lock goes through a little plastic spring loaded door as you close the tailgate water can get in apparently, WD40 is the most obvious choice but others disagree.

Mine was in for a minor problem and the dealer kindly removed my re-map, luckily the nice chap from chipboost sorted it for £20, I am sure the service manager did it out of spite as he was smirking when I went to pick the car up. (But I could just be paranoid).

You will struggle to find anyone who is not 100% happy with Chipboost; you can always pay him double if it is too cheap.

Fabia vRS BLT Engine Hesitation.
I hate golf replied to VRStu's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I have had the 14mm fix and then fitted the 9mm and had a remap at Chipboost with no problems at all and no warning lights have appeared, the car runs nice and smooth which is more down to the remap I would think, the 14mm fix cured my stutter but I fitted the 9mm anyway as this made the tick over less lumpy. -

I have had the 9mm gasket in for a few Months now with no warning lights except the ones to put winscreen water and Fuel in. -

It was in Stockton-On-Tees and my wife was a witness it has really spoilt my weekend but I guess it had to happen one day. so please be aware if you are in the North East.

Ahh you use your car for a driving school. That is such a stress full job hats off to you, 75k in a driving school car is worth double in a normal car so your vRS has been brilliant. -

A torx bit and a ratchet is easier than an Allen key, you can get a lot more torque on the bolts and it usually means less skin off the knuckles. -
Torn between a Fabia and 1.9 Octavia
I hate golf replied to worded's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
The octavia has a massive boot, big enough to sleep in if you don't want to pay for a hotel room and the Fabia is a lot more compact but still has a fair bit of space for its size and good build quality, The new Octavia is like a Rolls Royse compared to a French car of the same size. -

My dealer said we cannot fit the gasket from the earlier models but there is nothing to stop you doing it (Wink Wink). I have had a service done since I fitted the smaller diametre one and no problems, If I had a warranty claim I would swop back before taking the car in just in case. -
Thanks for that.

I can reccomend Chipboost, it is a generic remap but is perfect as it makes the motor smoother and 170 is enough for me, I have done 5000 miles since fitting and no problems at all, Just south of Scarborough and

Me to, I am too tight to buy the Hatchbag ones but normal Halfords wear are usually too small for the vRS

I think the dealers always change the gasket at position 6, as this is closest to the valve but position 11 is easier for us and seems to work just fine, so I think it is normal to find a 25mm gasket. -
Now that Fabia vRS's are getting cheaper.......

Mine was a little awkward as there was a rubber tube in the way, so I disconnected the jubilee clip and tied it out of the way with a bit of string. You can -

I bought my vRS second hand and it hesitated quite bad in traffic on a steady throttle! it also ran on for a split second after turning of the ignition off and tick over used to shake the whole car. After reading through this rather large topic I have fitted a gasket with a 9mm hole in place of the 20mm one and its a different car, smoother more responsive and no stutter, It's an easy job and the positives far outway the negatives
