Driver door loom issues?
Evening folks I own a 58 plate fabia sport. The driver's window stopped working this week. Fiddling with the runner boot where the wires go between the door and the car body got it going again so I suspect a broken wire which I gather is a common issue. I also have an issue with the doors randomly locking and unlocking when driving so likely the same thing. I am not skilled enough to attempt to repair myself. Is the best bet a febi repair kit? I have found one for £40 posted - the 107065. Otherwise would a whole replacement loom being the best bet? Thank you for any advice

Thanks for the reply, that's probably a great shout. Did you have to remove much to get to it?

Random door locking/unlocking whilst driving and internal lights not working on door opening
Good evening folks I have a v clean 2008 fabia sport MK2. The central locking has started locking/unlocking itself randomly whilst driving. Sometimes when locking it when parked it'll sound like it's doing it twice. Secondly if you flick the internal light switch across to work on opening the doors the internal lights are stuck on. Therefore no option other than to keep the internal lights switched off which is a pain. Any ideas what it could be? Guessing it may be linked!

Chasing rust!
So the 06 MK2 elegance sailed though it's MOT this week with only a single advisory for a rusty rear subframe. I have treated with lanoguard which appears to have halted further rust around the frame/arms etc so will keep up a once yearly treatment. Also managed to inject lots of lanoguard into both sills through the rubber bungs which will hopefully stop it rusting from the inside out. The external sills have a couple of light rust patches but still v solid and also a tiny bit appearing around the wheel arch lips. I'd like to remove the plastic undertrays and arch liners to treat these areas too. Has anyone done this? Worried what I might find and also whether it'll be a massive ball ache to get them on/off. Will mean a jack/axle stands too. Expect I'll need new screws all round as doubt they'll be in a fit state to re-use. If anyone knows the size/type I would need to order that would be much appreciated!

Skoda noob Looking for buyer advice
We paid just over 2k for a 2006 2 litre diesel elegance last year- BKD engine with the DSG box and 90K. This era doesn't have a DPF to worry about. Economy is great- hit 59mpg on our run to Somerset the other week. The old boy who had it looked after it well with lots of receipts etc. Sailed through its MOT this week at 97k with only an advisory for rear subframe corrosion (which I've treated and hopefully significantly slowed down) To look at it's boring and plain Jane but maybe the safer bets are the less exciting models?

Vibration on idling when engine warm
Same car as you, same issue. No fault codes and nothing obvious so I live with it. Mine only does it in park or neutral- in drive it's fine. I figure for a car worth about 2k it's not worth chasing minor faults although it is irritating!

Looking for a rear axle
All looks good. Re the drop damage do you mean the scratches? Look forward to seeing how it all goes together, are you fitting it yourself? I applied the lanoguard to my pretty badly rusted axle and suspension parts a few months ago and it appears to have halted any further corrosion- could be a good bet on new parts to keep them tip top, especially if the paint is compromised.

Looking for a rear axle
I'd be tempted with that kit for mine tbh if it gets condemned come MOT time. Has to be better than used an rusty parts. If you buy it then treat once yearly with lanoguard - can inject the axle and it should keep it looking good for the rest of the life of the car

How is this MK2 so rusty?!
Browsing eBay I came across this Octy MK2. Only a few months older than mine but never seen rust like it?! Is this to be expected for all of them in due course? Mine has a little on one sill and the odd tiny blister. I have pumped both sills full of lanoguard to hopefully keep it at bay as long as possible. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185796682982?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=bBJq1NtKQQa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=cUmldqScSL2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Can anyone recommend a headlight bulb upgrade?
No I havent- I assumed the last mot would have picked that up? I'll drop my mechanic a line see if he can do that for me. I didn't realise until I Google searched how rubbish the MK2 lights are sadly!

Can anyone recommend a headlight bulb upgrade?
Evening folks The headlights on my MK2 Sport are pretty poor. Especially on country roads. Assuming this is the same with the Mk2s across the board? Can anyone recommend a reliable upgraded bulb? Mixed reviews online so be great to hear any recommendations here 👍

Rear axle corrosion
Looking online I think it's the same as the golf etc so plenty around on eBay. I used lanoguard on mine- all came up v well so hopefully will halt the corrosion . Injected all the sills too. Can't the screws be replaced? Where are they as can't imagine they are on the subframe itself?

Rear axle corrosion
Morning folks My mechanic commented to me that the underside of my 06 estate was pretty rusty.... Had a look and the rear axle looks pretty crusty! Whilst I will wire brush it and treat it I wondered if anyone knew whether a new replacement can be obtained or whether I would need secondhand? Otherwise much of the rear floor pan is covered by plastic panels so not sure what it will look like underneath.... Will try some lanoguard and inject it wherever I can as I'd like to get as long as possible out of the car.

My new to me 1.9TDI Sport
Sorry just seen this! Ah how frustrating for you, bet you were gutted! Great to hear how well they go on though - really enjoying it so far. It's the wife's runabout and so much better than her old fiat 500!

My new to me 1.9TDI Sport
Drove 120 miles each way today for our 58 plate Fabia 1.9TDI Sport. It's awesome! Over 50mpg on the way home and v comfy and torquey. I don't think there are a huge amount of these about? Feel like it may be a future classic ha! Only 60K on the clock too and a massive folder of history. Just need to sort out the speakers as they are pretty shocking compared to my Octy MK2!

MK2 Monte Carlo TSI or 1.9 TDI Sport?

MK2 Monte Carlo TSI or 1.9 TDI Sport?
Thank you for such a helpful reply. I think I am leaning towards the older sport. It looks immaculate and only 60k on it. £450 difference in price so although the Monte Carlo is 4 years younger I am thinking the sport 1.9 TDI is the better buy. The Monte Carlo also needs a door painting due to a few scratches. The TDI is due a cambelt which the dealer will have sorted included in the price which is handy.

MK2 Monte Carlo TSI or 1.9 TDI Sport?
Afternoon Folks I have narrowed my Fabia choices down to a 2012 Monte Carlo 1.2TSI 86bhp ith 70k or a 2008 1.9TDI sport with 60k identical colour and interior on both- the Monte Carlo has more black out bits though. Struggling to work out which to buy? V similar money- the sport needs a cambelt doing which is an onwards consideration but any advice on which to buy would be really handy!

Do I need another DSG service?
Thank you for such a helpful reply and sorry I didn't get back on here sooner! That's very useful to hear- sounds like a good job done then. The car has a full folder of receipts like this- I think it's had 4 cambelts in its 16 years!

Do I need another DSG service?
Morning folks Took my 2006 PD130 with DSG in for a service today and afterwards the mechanic asked me if the DSG box had been serviced. Having checked the paperwork it appears it was done 6k ago at 87k. He commented that the box didn't feel smooth and had jolted when he set off (albeit feels fine to me however I haven't had one before) Looking at the service record from the previous owner the DSG box had the oil and filter changed as well as a general service and the bill was £330. My mechanic told me a DSG service should be £300 and the oil is £20 a litre. My bill shows the total oil cost for the DSG fluid being £39 plus vat?! Does it look like my DSG service was done with improper oil and I should look at getting it done again? A local specialist quotes £170 on their website and Skoda themselves £254.... My chap therefore sounds rather pricey! The dual clutch was changed last year I believe. Whilst I don't want to spend more on an old car, equally I want the gearbox to last well! Many thanks as always

Headlight alarm warning continues despite lights being off?
Ooh I'm not sure? I don't think so but had just parked to the nearside so there is a chance! I'll try that and see if it does the same thing Thank you for the swift reply!

Headlight alarm warning continues despite lights being off?
Afternoon folks This morning the headlight warning buzzer continued despite the lights being switched off. Also noticed the rear parking light was illuminated despite the switch being in the off position. Started it again and seems fine now but assuming something may be on its way out?
