  1. Thanks for the link, got the cracked one repaired and hopefully all stays good with it.
  2. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you have spent compiling information for me Carlston, certainly some future options to be thought about. The car is not our main one for long and loaded journeys, but for a test, four adults and not the smoothest of roads with a good dip compression was used to double check any fouling issues and no visible scuffs were seen in the arches or any representative noise. But something that we will certainly keep a check on and deal with if necessary.
  3. Thanks Carlston, very informative. It sounds like there are not the original wheels on the car then (we purchased it Aug 2022) and someone has fitted these on. Yes, the 205/40/17 really didn't look right on the wheels and seemed too narrow with them leaving the rim somewhat exposed. I thought something wasn't quite right when the tyre pressure chart in the fuel cap did not give this size tyre as an option and was 215/4/17. It was also not a pleasant experience if you hit any defect in the road, this to me is supposed to be a family car and not a boy racer, I'm far too old for that now lol After chacking clearance etc, we did actually fit a larger sidewall tyre for comfort, protection etc and went for a 215/50/17, so we'll do a few checks with roadside speed boards and gps just to see roughly where we are at with actual speed compared to the speedo. So far it is a lot nicer to drive and will probably have to get the cracked alloy repaired if I can't find a suitable replacement quickly without having to buy a new set of alloys.
  4. Thank you. I ended up having to change the front discs and pads today and checked the inside of the rim and on the back of each spoke is various numbers for white, bright, silver etc and then 5J0601025T Rim. One set of 4 on Ebay but for big money. Typically 4 new tyres were being put on the car yesterdy and it just had to be the last one that was found to have a cracked alloy.
  5. Just found a crack in one of the 17" alloys on a 2014 1.6TDI Rapid Spaceback and trying to find a replacement but can't seem to find what I am looking for. Does anyone know if these are OEM or after market wheels and any info that lmay help to find one.
  6. Another very satisfied customer of Pete's. I'm so glad that I came across his posts on the Polo forums and then also on Briskoda. I'd previously searched the likes of Ebay and that is probably a minefield of untested units and being sold for more than Pete's service for a refurb unit. Pete provides an absolutely top notch service with updates at each stage. I took full advantage of the service exchange program to save stripping the faulty one out first, sending it off and waiting for it to be returned to me. The refund was processed just as soon as the faulty unit was delivered back to him.
