12v battery low alert - ideas?
Battery arrived, within 24 hours of order, swapped over, expected a few alarms post change as expected but short drive and lock to lock steering check sorted that (TPMS alert was a nail in rear o/s tyre, why do things happen all at once!), and since no further low battery alerts! Bought an OBDeleven as we have two Skodas and and Audi in the family, changed the battery in config so now just wait and see! Tayna supplied Varta battery £130 all in, expensive way to verify fault but substantailly cheaper than other or OE alternatives! Windows up on lock work immediately and after a few trips auto stop / start also, which appeared not to on the questionable Bosch battery, fingers crossed! Time will tell! Thanks for all FB and tips, appreciated.

12v battery low alert - ideas?
Yes, yes & yes! Service manager even discussed several options of how to progress, but DIY swap was by far the cheapest! Wouldn't have bought the 4x4 if Haldex had not been serviced, so selling garage did it for me, whether first or second I can't tell but have receipt for oil and parts, 6 years old and 63K.

12v battery low alert - ideas?
Too impatient! So Skoda dealer says nothing wrong but non OE compatible battery fitted so unable to code in. Had fitted Bosch batt coded in by local VW indy garage, alert's came back. Charged overnight, fine for 1 day then back to no auto start / low volts alert. Left on drive when on hols for 10 days and started ok so not considering any draining occurring. Skoda say OE or VARTA only are recommended, but now I have found out that both Bosch and Varta are from the same plant of manufacture so identical! Selling garage washed their hands of it saying battery was good when tested and OK at MOT (?) in April.🤔 So, as fitted Bosch is now 3 years old, and been told 4 year warranty is non-transferrable, Tayna have received a lump of spondees for a new Varta. Watch this space!

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
Well, good and bad news! New override switch fitted, time will tell but hopefully no further EMS workshop alerts over use of "P" whilst driving! Bad news, on getting car back noted no light on gear selector, and loss of ESC / Mode & Auto start / stop buttons on right of shift lever! Back to Skoda to be told "schoolboy error, not connected wiring of new part correctly"! Glad issue resolved, but we "trust" and pay the rates for trained Skoda mechanics, and have to accept such events! Not best pleased, new world ways I suppose!

12v battery low alert - ideas?
Reply from Skoda garage post diags - battery in good condition and charge, but as non OE (it's a Bosch AGM) unable to code it to car. Cost of changing to OE and fit / code.........£300! Think I'll suffer the warnings till battery gets lazy! Technological advances ............are they really beneficial to us as owners?

12v battery low alert - ideas?
Thanks for update, Bosch batt is still under warranty but as fitted by a garage for the previous owner not sure that would carry through to next owner? Might just give the garage a ring tomorrow. Tayna batteries, thanks for heads up! Ecobat at Shrewsbury are my preferred but they only do a NUMAX replacement, not sure of brand.

12v battery low alert - ideas?
Still happy with the car after 2 months of ownership, 47 mpg average, tows the caravan a treat, 33mpg towing, well pleased. DSG position indicator switch mod being done under warranty, should be happy BUT................ continually getting "12v battery low. Charge by driving alert"! Been all through receipts and it had a new battery in 2019, BOSCH so good pedigree! Battery voltage, off load before start 12.65v, the meter belonged to a good friend Bob Tanner, nothing to do with a Telecoms firm! When running on tick over healthy 14.2 volts seen so all appears to be charging OK. But still getting the 12 battery low or "infotainment system shutting down as battery critically low", even after a good drive. Never has she failed to start or cranks "lazy". Charging overnight clears alert for a few days but battery low alert will return. Auto stop / start fails to activate, assume this is a result of ECU sensing battery low so self preservation kicks in! ECOBAT in Shrewsbury did test AGM battery, said it was tiring as 3 years old but still fit. Local Skoda agent today informed me that battery not covered by warranty and they'd charge it up. so questions:- 1/ is the battery starting to fail? Appreciate that start / stop is a big load. 2/ Has ECU got a setting that can be varied to trigger low battery alerts as it's never failed me as yet? 3/ Is 3 years about the expected life of the battery on such a car? Have I got to just bite the bullet and get a new one? 4/ any recommendations on a good replacement if I go that way? (Tanya batteries do good brands and prices, £100 - £140 ish) Any thoughts appreciated.

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
Sucsess! Car came with CarCare warranty for 12 months, Faintree in Telford had it in and have managed to get the warranty folk to pay for them to do the add-on upgrade. Hopefully no more irrelevant alerts! 🤞

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
Wow! Thanks for this! Hassles suffering an intermittent alert but reassured that it's nothing major and not gonna blow the gearbox! Annoyingly I purchased the car from a Lexus dealer (Inchcape) who want the car back for diags, think the round trip and time waiting for the described issue to be identified might be a waste of time! Anyone succsessfully stopped this alert? Electrical / contact cleaner spray in the right place?

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
Into third week of ownership, and still well pleased! 190BHP 4x4 DSG - first two tankfuls returned 43 & 45 mpg, happy with that after Freelander that averaged 33 mpg! Towbar fitted today by Copthorne Services of Shrewsbury, Westfalia detachable, tidy install and at a fair price considering fitted and coded in! BUT - third time today on way to towbar fit, since purchase, had "Workshop Alert" message, saying place in "P" and get sorted, lasted about 5 seconds then extinguished! Should I be worried? Is this an event that would be stored in ECU history and would be accessible with an OBD scanner? Thoughts please? Guessing that ECU has been flattened during re-code for tow bar, just ideas on best way forward please? Snowy.

And so it begins.........................
Waffling? No, recollection of what's gone before is the only way to justify how good the present is! The comfort and convieniece of this day is a benifit to all of us that are a tad ageing, but the simplicty and honesty of the past is somthing I treasure that I experienced! Would I still like and appreciate my first vehicles, '67 Beetle 1500, KDD594E or my Honda C50? To right I would! Would I like to give up the Superb that is now mine................don't think so! Very fortunate I am! **** Snow.

Wish I had checked spelling before hitting the "POST" button! 😟

And so it begins.........................
The deed is done! After loving my Freelander (which never failed me, willingly towed a caravan and generally good all round hack) was getting a tad frustrayed with draining the bank account regularly to fill the tank for about 33mpg! AWMBO has had a 2.0 2017 Yeti for 3 years, only the 2wd, but great little motor and so frugal for what it is. So after a few weeks looking round found a 2016 4x4 190 horse Superb 3, the first drive home today was a real eye opener! Economy, comfort, and convieniece loaded! What a bus! So, hopefully get a towbar added in a couple of weeks and then evaluate as a towcar on summer hols! Already ordered spacesaver from fleabay, boot mat from Amazon so the hound cant coat it with mud & hair, and possibly get it detailed for long term protection. Anyhow, that's why I'm here, as for me an aging telephone engineer who is looking to escape the chains of the industry, love my motorcycles (Fazer 1000 for smiles, Honda Transalp 700 for just enjoying the ride, a BSA A10 golden Flash and Norton Commando to keep the spanner skills up!) and my very considerate and long suffering wife! A caravan, some countryside or beach, butty box and a flask and with the wife, and the mutt what more do you need! Looking forward to a plethera of valid (and insignificant1) data that will come my way - just love forums! Kettle's always on for like minded folk passing the threshold in Shropshire!
