Running issues Mk1 Vrs Octavia
I'd change the plugs as well yeah. They don't cost much. Also if you've someone with VCDS do some logging so you can find out for sure what the issue is instead of just replacing parts and hoping it solves the issue. If you've nobody with VCDS I'm sure there's somebody close to you on here with it. Where you based?

Running issues Mk1 Vrs Octavia
Four new Bosch coil packs cured my issues! Is the car mapped? What happened mine was whoever tuned the car turned off the misfire recognition counter so when I was logging misfires they weren't showing up (disabled) (I didn't notice). It was only after I'd logged everything else and found no issues that I decided to double check the misfire counter again and I noticed they were disabled and I couldn't get them to enable. I knew then it was 100% a coil. Obviously couldn't check which one so replaced all four. Genuine Bosch. Running perfectly now.

Running issues Mk1 Vrs Octavia
Oh forgot to add. Car was recently smoke tested for boost leaks & there are none. But I'm going to do it again tomorrow for peace of mind. I like to do things twice just to be sure 😂

Running issues Mk1 Vrs Octavia
So, recently purchased a Mk1 Vrs. Issue I'm having is at about 2800/3000 RPM the whole way up the rev range in every gear (apart from 1st) at WOT the car is lagging. It's hard to describe but it's like it lags, then it's fine, then it lags again and so on. Now, if I part throttle it, it doesn't do it. I've a attached a log logging boost (actual vs requested), also logging N75 duty cycle & also MAF. Third gear, WOT, 2000RPM to 5500RPM. Car is mapped, by who I don't know. Was it Dyno'd? I doubt it. Car is standard other than the map. In my mind I've ruled out the N75 as it seems to be trying to do it's job in the logs, MAF reading is a little strange being that it's reading a little high at spots but I've unplugged it and it makes no difference. I've checked the wastegate, it's not seized & moves freely. I've also done a log logging misfires (there are none). Anyone any ideas? I'm really starting to think it's the map but a couple of previous owners said the car ran well when they owned it. Second picture is the log. First is just so you know what's being logged.

AFR and Boost logs
Can anyone make sense of these logs for me and how my car is running according to these logs? In my mind it doesn't seem to be right but not sure if I'm being paranoid or not 🤣 1.8T AUQ stage 1 mapped to 208BHP N249 delete, SAI delete etc etc. Also, both LTFT and STFT are at 0% all the time (they never change)

Rough idle
I have no idea mate. I'd imagine so. I haven't had the car long. Maybe two months. The fella I bought it off had it one year and only done 80 miles in that year. Since I've got it I've done about a thousand miles. Sparks changed, fully serviced, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, new washers and seals on the injectors, full coolant flush and replaced the PCV pipes as they were cracked and perished. To be honest I'd say that filter has been on awhile without being touched.

Rough idle
Okay, have a slight rough idle, up and down a few hundred revs, car just doesn't idle smooth or nice. But car drives nicely. Disconnected MAF completely, car now idles much better. Took it for a drive and obviously doesn't drive as well as with the maf. Have a K&n filter on. Do yous reckon it's the maf or something else?

Silicone Coolant Hoses
Nice one mate.

Silicone Coolant Hoses
As above, looking for a complete kit of silicone coolant hoses and also, silicone PCV hoses. Need links if anybody has them and pointed in the right direction.

Headlight Upgrade
Appreciate all the feedback lads. Will 100 percent get them fitted, but the right way!

Headlight Upgrade
Understood. But what I'm asking is, is it a straight swap/plug and play. The xenons/projectors off a Mk1 Octavia in place of just the standard Mk1 Octavia headlights. Will the lights work if I swap them straight over

Headlight Upgrade
I've noticed that some Mk1s have projector headlights (mine doesn't), why do some have them and some don't? And also, what do I need to upgrade mine to the projector ones? I can get my hands on a set of projector ones but can't imagine it's a straight swap?

Possible head gasket issue on my Mk1 Octavia VRS
How do I shorten the thread? Tried doing it when I fist posted it but couldn't figure out how

Possible head gasket issue on my Mk1 Octavia VRS
How much did they charge to do the head for you? I just don't know is it worth it with 186 thousand miles on the clock. Plus also, how reliable is getting the head gasket done because I've heard stories about people getting it done only for it to go again a few weeks later.

Possible head gasket issue on my Mk1 Octavia VRS
It's a strange one, no loss of power, no overheating what so ever (when I say no over heating I mean the guage never goes above 90 and there's never been smoke coming out from under the bonnet, although she does seem to run quite hot) no milky/foamy gunk on dipstick or oil cap. But, losing coolant rapidly and when brought on a good drive for 45 minutes or so when I stop and turn the car off the coolant reservoir starts gurgling. Radiator never warms up. Radiator fan comes on now and then not v often at all. On start up, she runs at a high rev (1) until the car gets to operating temperature. No power in it until it gets to operating temperature (only way I can describe that is its like she's suffocated or something, like she can't open up or something) but in general all the time idles slightly rough. Only slightly. Smell of petrol from the oil as well. As I said its a hard one to diagnose. But thinking, how reliable is it to get a head gasket done? Also there's 186 thousand miles on it so not exactly low

Possible head gasket issue on my Mk1 Octavia VRS
Possible head gasket issue on my Mk1 Octavia VRS. Waiting on my mechanic to take a proper look at it over the coming weeks. So, if worse comes to worse and it is that, instead of getting the engine rebuilt I'm thinking of replacing it altogether. But, I'm struggling to find an engine that is suitable. Especially an AUQ one. Ideally I'd like to go for a like for like replacement. But whatever the case may be it has to be low mileage, and in top condition. Note: been reading about the BAM conversion and just wondering would that be an option?A worthy option? Also there's a 5 speed box in mine not a 6 speed. Any advice appreciated
