  1. So I changed my mind and very glad that I did.......fitted an IOPEDAL unit. So easy on this model as you don't even need to remove the throttle pedal as the plug in wiring sits on top of the pedal and you can just tuck the new section of loom and the brain unit behind the carpets. The wireless control unit fits nicely to the dash on the driver's side to the right of the steering wheel and left of the heating vent. Took longer to wait for the electronics to shutdown than it did to fit. Only done a couple of hundred miles since fitting but finding there are 3 modes that I enjoy using. First is the eco mode which is the second basic setting, that works great for lazy motorway and dual carriageway driving and I think seems to give a couple of mpg more than standard car. The city mode basic setting 1 is nice to use in traffic but of course the sport mode is the most fun. I have not even bothered to try the Sport plus mode as the Sport mode is lairy enough for sure. A little custom tuning to my liking with the sub programs and flavours and I think I will have a very versatile set up for any type of driving I fancy. I will be using the car for going to and fro on work sites, at weekends and evenings for fun and towing at least a couple of times per month too. The settings and programs can all be changed "on the fly" and really do change the characteristics of the driving experience positively. For £200 it's excellent value for money and you don't need, nor will you want for a phone app IMO. Hope this helps with anyone else who may be thinking is a pedal tune unit worth it.....IT IS on this car for sure.
  2. Thanks for that, not many around with the 3.6 it seems. I find I have just a bit of a dull spot upto about 25mph yes engine is fab and in sport is really quite fiery for a big estate car. It's not a huge investment so I think I will go for the XLR unit as more settings will at least give me options to work with. Particularly as I will from time to time be towing a trailer. It seems most also say don't both with the Bluetooth unit either so even cheaper now with 20% off
  3. Has anyone with the same model got experience with the chiptune xlr throttle response chip? (The new RaceChip XLR) Loving my new car but find that the noraml mode of DSG and the Sport Mode are too far apart, in that the Sport Mode is a bit full on from a standing start and the normal is just a bit slouchy thru to about 40mph, just feels a little cumbersome or too lairy when needing a little sprint out of a junction. Thinking that I could adjust usin this in the normal driving mode to give me what I want until I want to surprise someone with the "full beans" Any feedback on the above or event on reasonable places to seek a re-map in the south (Hampshire / Surry Borders) Thanks
  4. Thanks for the help guys, got my local (very useful and resourceful mechanic) to have a butchers, he already advised that if coding needed then he has a man with VCDS to sort. The other thing for me is if I do go power for leisure battery charging I assume I can get that run from the battery which as I have 3.6 V6 is in the n/s boot compartment, so no running cables from bulkhead to rear of car for me!
  5. Thanks to those who took the time to advise on Bluetooth phone connection and the reversing mirror dip system setting. Sorted my new to me 2011 Superb 3.6 with a great deal more ease than plodding through the slightly clumsy manual! Next to sort is some styling updates Cheers again to all
  6. Thanks for the reply, for sure at the moment I only need towing capability for trailers (horsebox and general van type box trailer) that said may go the whole hog with charge power for leisure battery. I have tools including torque wrench and a good space to work in so I think I may just go the same route as you with pfjones kit. I assume that coding the car for trailer use is doable at a dealer for a cost, or do I check to see if my local usual all makes garage can cope with that. Anyway, will collect the car later today and start to have a rummage to see what it does and does not have. It may even be that it's all there and tucked away I just didn't look when I was buying. .no fool like an old fool !
  7. Thanks for the extra information. It all helps. I also note now from the pictures that the towbar needs to slide a long way into the chassis rails anyway so another reason the bumper comes off too. I'm only setting up for trailer towing rather than caravan but yep probably best to go the full monty on the electrics. Will need to investigate whether the car is towing prepped or not first (not sure what I will be looking for atm) and also see if I can find some details to help take the rear bumper off without messing all the usual silly little plastic fixings . Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated
  8. Just about to collect my Superb estate and this will be one of my first jobs. Thanks for the pictures but please may I ask a few questions for clarity. Does the rear bumper have to come off completely or does that just make access a bit easier I have fitted on my Volvo's and they all slot in behind the rear bumper? The wiring you have used is it a universal canbus unit or a car specific kit? For the power supply from the battery is there not a power supply that could be used near the rear such as 12v socket or boot space fuse board? Thanks for any help you can give.
  9. Hello to all, not quite got my hands on my first Skoda but looking forward to collection tomorrow of a 2011 Superb 3.6 V6 Elegance model. First posts for help will be to sort a required towbar and after that questions on sensible remaps. I know it's going to be thirsty but frankly I pretty used to that.
