  1. Thanks boraman. Looks as if you have a real gem of a main dealer. I will contact my dealer to follow up my problem. Thanks for your info.
  2. Hi boraman. Thanks for your response. What age and mileage was your vehicle and was it a Karoq? Where is your dealer? I am aware that my dealer has previously reported leaky shockers on an Octavia, said they didn’t need to be replaced, and then failed it at Its first MoT! Obviously outside any warranty period.
  3. Thanks roottoot. I will keep an eye on the service intervals for Haldex and DSG. Independent specialist garage said DSG service interval had been recently extended to 80k by VAG. I think your post says stick to 40k ? Just encountered a new “problem”. Changed the key fob battery last night and wife tried to open the car this lunchtime and key wouldn’t work! Did a bit of trawling on internet but not found the solution. Luckily the spare key appears to work as normal so she has headed off to pick up grandkids. Before she left I tried holding the non functioning key against the starter button and was able to start car! Message came up on dashboard “key fob not detected” before engine fired. Can the fob be reprogrammed at home?
  4. Thanks for the advice. I will follow up with an approved repairer. I have read the warranty exclusions and shock absorbers are not covered by the warranty. I am therefore dependent on Skoda accepting that there was a manufacturing fault or a goodwill gesture. Wish me luck!!!
  5. Thanks Roottoot. This inspection was carried out by an independent specialist garage and they have agreed to carry out a pre MoT inspection a month before MoT to assess the extent of the leak and if a possible failure. At the previous oil and inspection service at 15k carried out at the main dealer they failed to provide a copy of the video inspection despite being included in the invoiced (and hence contracted) work and my email request. Their customer service was so poor I would have scored them negative stars if that was possible. I attempted to book at the same dealer for this service but their attitude and failure to match the service cost quoted on Skoda site forced me to go to the independent specialist. I have already contacted Skoda UK who have confirmed that the shockers will not be replaced under warranty and “hid” behind the dealer network. Have I got a rogue dealer and a rogue Karoq? So far my experience of Skoda has been very disappointing which is a shame as I really like my vehicle purchased following extensive reviews and recommendations in motoring press, namely WhatCar magazine. My friend who owns a similar aged Volvo XC40 has had a number of issues already resolved free of charge by the Volvo main dealer. I prefer the interior of my Sportline but am considering other manufacturers for my next purchase.
  6. Fingers crossed we get back to the good old days and cheaper diesel prices. Enjoying the extra torque if not the hit to the wallet at present.
  7. Anyone else having problems with the front shockers. Following a recent oil change and inspection service on my 2.0 TDI 4X4 DSG (at 26k at 2.5 year old) it was reported that both shockers were leaking and probably an MoT failure at 3 years. Not covered by manufacturers warranty surprisingly!
  8. Seems weird that there are water restrictions when the weather is dull and grey but I suppose it’s payback for the earlier heatwave and near drought for months. Good to see that fuel prices are falling slowly. Wonder if diesel will ever get close to petrol prices again. I choose to buy 2.0 TDI 4X4 instead of 1.5 TSI. Will I regret it?
  9. I own a Velvet Red Karoq Sportline. I think the best colour and often gets admiring comments particularly when it is clean (difficult now with the hosepipe ban here in Yorkshire!). Main use is for domestic chores and ferrying the grand children. I also run a Yaris Verso (weird) but so versatile and great for trips to the skip and golf course with the rear seats folded down. My weekend car is an Audi TT roadster. More fun for those who like the wind in the hair!!
