MOT rev limiter
Can I leave it running for an hour without damage to keep it at high temps?

MOT rev limiter
Isn't leaving the engine idling for an hour harmful?

MOT rev limiter
They make you stand at the front because they don't like you watching them. Citing "safety" rules. Total kittenss.

MOT rev limiter
The MOT in my country (Belgium) are absolute swines who redline cars for fun. There are reports online of people who leave with ruined cars because these pigs redline during the exhaust test. Adding to that, mostly there's a queue of an hour, and while queue the motor cools down so when they rev it it's on a cold motor...

MOT rev limiter
I have to go to the MOT soon. Is there anything I can do to prevent those MOT monkeys from revving my car to hard? Kinda worried about that. I've already looked for a rev limiter but can't really find anything that's easy and cheap to install.

Clutch rattle
I have a 2021 Octavia petrol with 57k km on it. I've had this problem for at least a year now, it hasn't really gotten worse. There seems to be a rattle sound coming from the clutch area, and it varies when I press the clutch pedal. Sometimes it goes away when I press the clutch pedal, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I need to hold it halfway before it goes away, Then right after that when I press or depress it again it comes back. So it's not consistent, it seems to vary a lot while pressing or depressing the clutch pedal. It's a fast 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr' kinda sound. Anyone know what this could be and what I need to do about it? Clutch isn't slipping at all and works fine. Switching gears etc all work fine. I've read it could be the dual mass flywheel (does this car even have one?). But on a car with such a low mileage I find it strange to already be having problems and weird sounds.

Rumbling engine sound
I have it in the OBD port. It shuts itself down when the battery gets too low, but maybe too low since ive gotten the low battery voltage notice on the dashboard.

Rumbling engine sound
Does anyone know what this rumbling sound is in the background? Sometimes its there, sometimes its not. Sometimes its loud. It disappears when the oil is warm. Its mostly there when leaving cold in the morning. But sometimes its also not. Its also there when releasing the clutch pedal without pressing the gas pedal in first gear, then its a more rhythmic thumping sound. It doesnt get any louder, and its not audible in higher gears or higher speeds. Ive takes it to the mechanic and he said it might be the alternator having to give more power, maybe the battery is slowly dying. I have a dashcam in the car, and have forgotten multiple times to disconnect it, and it has drained it to near empty several times. Once, I had the low battery symbol and the rumbling sound was there really loudly.

Rumbling noise on cold startups
I have a 2021 1.5 TSI Skoda Octavia petrol with about 53k km. Lately (never really paid attention it, could be that it has always been there) my car has developed this irregular rumbling kind of noise when starting the engine up cold. It's almost as if it sounds like someone is blowing bubbles in a glass of water with a straw. I usually let the engine idle for 2 minutes before driving off in the morning. Else the car is very jerky. It starts at about 1500 rpm and then drops to around 900 rpm in 2 drops. I can also hear it when I take my foot off the clutch pedal without accelerating from a standstill position after the engine has started for 2 minutes. Then it's a more rhythmic sound. I wouldn't say it sounds like knocking, more like as if there's air or exhaust escaping somewhere. After I drive off and start accelerating I can't hear it anymore. It completely disappears when the engine has warmed up. Even when accelerating from a standstil by just letting the foot off the clutch without pushing down on the acceleration. Is this something I should get checked out? I attached a video, but if you want to use headphones or put the volume up loudly, because it's faint in the video. When I'm sitting in the car it's quite audible. WhatsApp Video 2024-09-11 at 16.27.17_9c423f79.mp4

Spark plug change interval
I have a 2021 1.5 TSI petrol estate with 48k km on it. Garage says it's time to change the spark plugs (without looking at them of course). Is it? Or is there more life left in them?

Changing brake pads yourself
I tried Euro Car Parts but the search results show brake pads of differing sizes. So how do I go about finding out the brake pad sizes I need?
-
Changing brake pads yourself
Also, what brake pad size do I need?

Changing brake pads yourself
Hi all. I'm considering having a go at changing the brake pads myself on my 2021 1.5 TSI petrol octavia. They have had a squeeling sound since the beginning (45k km now), and I'm getting quite sick of it. But not willing on paying extortionate garages in my area to change them, as I've heard it's a doable job if you take your time. How hard is it? With no experience and just learning on the go from youtube vids. I have a lot of tools so that won't be problem. I'm also willing on just purchasing whatever tools I need. Are there any things I need to pay specific attention to?

Clutch pedal hesitates on coming back up
I've had this problem for a while now. So every now and then, in certain situations (it doesn't happen consistently), the clutch pedal seems to have a 'notch' in the middle when coming back up. It's not smooth, as if there is hesitation in the middle. What could be wrong? It's a 1.5 tsi 2021 octavia manual.

Where is the air intake located on a 2021 Octavia estate 1.5 TSI?
That's underneath the bonnet. I'd like to know where the air gets sucked in exactly on the outside of the bumper. How high it is from the bottom of the car.

Where is the air intake located on a 2021 Octavia estate 1.5 TSI?
Thank you for your sensible answer. But I'd still like to know, in case I hit a puddle accidentally for instance.

What with all the floodings and whatnot, just trying to know how deep of a puddle I could potentially pass without sucking up water in into the air intake.

Does this engine sound normal?
Yes, exactly. Services had some oil.

Does this engine sound normal?
41k km atm. Writing on engine cover is oil type they used in the factory. I've heard those 1.5 TSI engine sound kind of diesel-y due to their high pressure fuel injection. It has had 5 services over the years. Most recent one is 2 months ago with new oil and filter.

Does this engine sound normal?
https://vimeo.com/898729782?share=copy It's a 2021 Skoda Octavia 1.5 TSI petrol. There's this "clanging" sound that starts halfway. Is that normal or not?

Octavia 1.5 TSI 2021
Sorry, last edit: mechanic dumped G12++ in it. Can't edit posts after a period of time here.

Octavia 1.5 TSI 2021
Anyone please? I meant G12 vs G12 evo by the way...

Octavia 1.5 TSI 2021
My mechanic dumped G20+ coolant instead of G20 evo in it. Is that bad? Or does it even matter?

windshield wipers
I have a 1.5 TSI 2021 estate Octavia. I've heard the Bosch windshield wipers are great. Which length do I get from Amazon?
